Chapter 7, Tea with Hagrid.
Harry was in the Slytherin common room, it was almost time for his visit to Hagrid.
Harry was about to leave the common room when he heard a voice, "Where are you going" asked Millicent looking curious, she was sitting alone on one of the sofas stroking her pet cat.
"I'm going to Hagrid's, he invited me to come and see him" explained Harry he didn't want to be late.
"Hagrid, isn't he the groundskeeper" asked Millicent.
"Yeah, he's the one who told me I was a wizard and he took me to Diagon Alley" said Harry.
Millicent stood up, "Can I come too, I heard from the older students that Hagrid knows a lot about animals" she asked, there was a light of excitement in her eyes.
Harry was surprised, he hadn't heard Millicent sound so giddy before, "Sure, you can come" he said, he didn't want to upset her by saying no, and Harry did like Millicent anyway, at first glance you would think that she was mean, but she was actually a little shy and self-conscious once you bothered to talk to her.
Harry and Millicent left the castle and walked to Hagrid's hut, when Harry knocked on the door the two heard several loud barks, "Back Fang, back" came Hagrid's voice, Hagrid opened the door a crack, "Hold on, back Fang" he said.
Hagrid let the two in, he was holding back a huge back boarhound, Millicent's face light up like a child on Christmas when she saw the dog, "Make yourselves at home" said Hagrid as he let go of Fang.
Fang jumped straight into Millicent's lap and started licking her face, "Good doggy, who's a pretty doggy, who's a pretty doggy" said Millicent happily as she pet Fang, she seemed to have gone to pieces the second that Fang was near her
"This is Millicent" said Harry as he took a seat and took a cup of tea and a rock cake that Hagrid offered him.
"Well it seems young Millicent has taken a liking to Fang" said Hagrid, Millicent was now playing with Fang, she seemed to have lost interest in what Harry and Hagrid was doing, "She reminds me of another couple of Slytherins who loved animals" laughed Hagrid.
The rock cake was so hard that it almost broke Harry's teeth but he pretended to enjoy it, as soon as Hagrid was looking away Harry throw his cake out of the window.
Harry told Hagrid all about his first week at Hogwarts, he also mentioned that the other students was acting strangely around him as if they was afraid of him, he told Hagrid about what had happened with Ron.
Hagrid sighed, "I should have know this would happen, some people believe anything they hear" he said.
Harry was confused, he didn't know what Hagrid was talking about, "What do you mean, why are people acting like this around me" he asked.
"I'm afraid there's some bad rumours about Slytherin, the house has gained a bad reputation over the years" said Hagrid, he was clearly thinking of a lot of things.
"Gamma mentioned something about that, she said that people think all dark witches and wizards come from Slytherin, but she said it's not true" said Harry, he was hoping that Hagrid would confirm what Gemma had said.
"Well the truth is, You-Know-Who was a Slytherin, and a lot of his followers was too" said Hagrid, Millicent looked up at the mention of Voldemort, Harry felt a lump form in his stomach at the thought of being in the same house as his parents killer.
"But not all of them was Slytherins, there was others" said Millicent, she seemed desperate to defend her house.
"Yeah, yeah there was others" said Hagrid, he seemed to be thinking of a painful memory, "There was one really nasty one who was a Gryffindor, he sold out his friends to You-know-who" Hagrid was clearly sad by this fact.
Harry quickly changed the subject, "So, you mentioned a couple of Slytherins who liked animals" he said.
"Oh yes, their names was Liz and Barnaby, shame they graduated last year, you would have liked them" said Hagrid, he seemed to be in a much better mood now.
As Hagrid talked about these passed students Harry noticed a piece of paper on the table, it was a cut out of the newspaper, the paper said the someone had broken into Gringotts on the 31 of July, but they hadn't stolen anything.
"Hagrid, the Gringotts break-in happened on my birthday, it might've been happening while we were there" said Harry, Hagrid didn't answer he just looked away and offered Harry another of his deadly rock cakes.
Harry reread the paper, it said that the vault had been emptied earlier that day, Harry remembered that Hagrid had emptied a vault that day, could it have been the same vault, did Hagrid get there just in time.
