I tried to hold my feet in place firmly and looked around the hall for something to grab onto, also hoping the ship wouldn't fall apart. Rebel's head poked out of the escape pod, glancing around, wanting to ask someone why the ship had stopped, but the only other passenger we knew of was the broken droid laying on the ground. Rebel started to get out of the pod thinking maybe everything was over, but then we heard a lightsaber sound. I flinched, wondering if I could ever hear a lightsaber without getting scared again. I turned around, unprepared for what I knew I was about to see. Savage held his tall double lightsaber in his hand as it wrapped around the hilt tighter like a snake choking it's prey. I flashed a look down the hallway, knowing there was nowhere to run this time and he looked prepared to slash us down. Rebel fidgeted with her blaster with shaking hands as adrenaline kicked in and she took a precise shot to his head with a stun blast. I almost wished it hadn't been on stun, but it wasn't the Jedi way to kill without a trial first, besides they held vital information. He swung his saber at us, not holding the same morals, inclined to kill us and face the consequences rather than go through the trouble to spare us. We took a quick step back, but didn't have anywhere else to go when he swung again. Our armor protected us from most damage, but I was surprised to see the fresh slice in the seemingly brittle armor. Everything seemed to freeze for a moment as I wondered why the Jedi hadn't enforced our armor with the Zillo Beast scales when they had the chance. According to General Skywalker's report, it was impervious to lightsaber cuts. I suddenly found myself doubting the Jedi and thinking even they were untrustworthy. I thought about my leg, it was only numb for now, but like the quiet before a storm I expected for the pain to come flooding in any second now. I felt the gravity of the situation come rushing back to me and with it the agony in my leg. I wanted to scream but I glued my lips shut and started to crumple to the floor but I stopped myself and started thinking of how much worse it could be, we could be dead. I didn't even look at Savage, I didn't want to look at that monster ever again. I thought about Rex and abruptly remembered we were stopped and could give him our exact coordinates. I pressed the buttons again, my fingers doing the motions involuntarily as the muscle memory took over. I took hold of Rebel's arm and helped her as gently as I could to the pod trying to ignore my leg's resistance to movement. I laid her down on the ledge of the sleeping pod. I sat in the control seat feeling the pressure on the back of my leg as I rested it on the uncomfortable seat and felt more blood come out. I powered up the miniature ship, flipping switches and pushing buttons in a frenzy. I pressed the launch button on the control panel. "Here goes nothing." I muttered to myself, however the ship made no move. I pounded on the button again with my fist putting all my weight into it, expressing the urgency of the situation. I felt us break away from the main ship and jettison into the vacuum of space feeling weightless. Really weightless, I'd forgotten how that felt, I hadn't space walked since we rescued that holocron from Cad Bane. I felt myself start to drift upwards, I looked around confused and realized I'd forgotten to turn the gravity generators on. "Oh!" I said laughing and reaching for the switch. The pressure resumed to normal, I was surprised that the gravity didn't feel forced or like a burden, it felt normal, like home. That's how I wanted to feel, I wished everything would just go back to normal. I'd appreciated the brief moment of humor but it drifted away like a fleeting thought. All that was left now was to wait for Rex to arrive, that could take a while I thought to myself, checking how many hours of life support this thing had in it. 6 hours wasn't terrible but then again I had no idea how far away Coruscant was from here. I ransacked through cupboards looking for any medical supplies, springing into action. I found some bandages but not enough to stop our level of bleeding, the resources on this capsule were scarce. I looked down at my leg and then to Rebel, who at first glance appeared to be sleeping but I noticed her eyes were too tightly shut for her to comfortably fall asleep. She was frozen and had bravely been silent the entire time, I rummaged around some more for a rag realizing she was in more critical condition than I. Despite what she may have told us, she wasn't fine, I don't think she'd had enough time to heal. I wasn't upset at her eagerness to return to service though, in fact I admired it. She powered through not because she had to but because she wanted to. I wiped off the blood that had soaked most of her armor quietly, I knew she didn't want me to know she was hurting more than she'd admit. "You don't have to do that." She said, deepening her voice to hide her sniffling. "I don't mind." I said without looking at her, knowing she'd be embarrassed. "Okay, if you want to." She laid back down, clearing her throat when her voice cracked. I smiled and patted the ground searching for more towels. There was none though, so I picked up the gause and went to wrap her leg. "What are you doing?" She sat up sounding apprehensive. "Don't worry, I'm a professional." I said mocking Pouch. We both giggled and I carefully swaddled the armor around her leg, not as tight as it should have been but I didn't want to hurt her, I knew she wouldn't tell me if I'd done it wrong. She watched me closely as I limped off to the front seat. "Are you okay?" She asked. I turned the creaking, old chair around to face her. "It's just a scratch." I shrugged. She wanted to say something else but her eyes looked past me and towards the window with relief. I turned and jumped back when I saw the Venator spring at us. "Are you guys okay?" I heard Rex's sharp voice through the crackly com. "Well, it certainly took ya long enough." I said pressing the button to respond with one hand, the other on my hip sarcastically even though he couldn't see me. "Yep, that's them." I heard Rex say, forgetting to turn off the message stream. The cruiser locked onto us with its tractor beam and reeled us in as Rebel and I cupped our hands over our ears to shield them from the screaming walls of the pod. The bridge came out of the cruiser and met with the back of our ship. I felt it latch on and I got up to help Rebel to the door. I pushed a button that slid the door open, that's how old their ship was, it didn't have automatic doors. Rex, Wrecker, General Kenobi and Commander Tano met us on our way out and Rex let me lean on him as Wrecker took Rebel's weight off of me and carried her to the Jedi. She gave him a look that told him she did not like that so he set her down. General Kenobi stared at Rebel's wound looking disturbed for the first time. "That's a lightsaber mark." He whispered. Rebel nodded to him. "Maul and Savage are working tog-" her words faded as she passed out.
