Also there's a Lime in the chapter, it's marked for those uncomfortable with that. So, without further ado.

"Hey Nurse Joy, I just wanted to have my Pokémon looked over and healed. My name is May by the way, for when they're ready to be picked up." Said May, with the pinkette nodding as she grabbed the Pokéballs.
"Of course, I'll check on your Pokémon right away and call you once I'm done, May." Said Nurse Joy as she and Chansey went to go examine Torchic, Ralts and Lillipup.
Once they went further into the Pokémon Center, May went over to the video phones wanting to call her family and Professor Birch to let them know where she is. With her calling Professor Birch first, so he knew the progress she's made and the Pokémon she's caught. Dialing his number, May waited a few moments until she saw the Professor appear on the screen.
"Hello? Ah, May! It's been a while; I take it you've been busy on your Journey." Birch said when he saw the new Trainer.
"Hey Professor Birch, and yeah, I've been busy. Though mostly with training and getting ready at home, I only left the other day once I felt a I was ready. But I did catch two new Pokémon while training, a Ralts and a Lillipup." Replied May, with Birch looking at her in surprise before smiling widely.
"Really?! That's incredible! Ralts are incredibly difficult to find with how rare they are, along with their shy disposition making them likely to hide from humans. And a Lillipup, that's a Pokémon all the way from Unova! You've certainly got a good start on your team May; I'll be eager to hear of any other new Pokémon you catch on your Journey." Said Birch as the brunette nodded at this.
"I'll be sure to call whenever I find any new or rare Pokémon. Right now I'm on Dewford Island, so maybe I'll find some here." May said, seeing Birch perk up at hearing where she was.
"Dewford Island? Huh, that's funny since I'm planning to head there in a couple days to do some field research on the Wingull nesting season. Maybe we'll see each other in person sooner than expected, if you're still there." Birch said while smiling amusement that she's on Dewford the same time he'd be going there soon.
"Maybe. I am planning to challenge the Dewford Gym so that might make it to where I'm here for a while, if they're really strong." Said May, knowing while she might have the type advantage against Brawly with Torchic and Ralts, that doesn't mean it'll be an easy battle.
"Well I wish you luck in challenging the Dewford Gym, May, and good luck on the rest of your Journey. Until next time, take care." Said Birch as he waved to the brunette, which May returned before ending the call.
Dialing her family's number next, it didn't take long for May to see her parents appear on the screen.
"May! Oh, I'm so happy you've called so soon! Tell us, how are you right now? Have you made it to Rustboro already?" Caroline said while smiling at seeing their daughter.
"Hi mom, it's nice seeing your guys too. I'm doing pretty fine, aside from nearly getting caught in a storm yesterday while on the beach. And no I'm not in Rustboro, I'm actually on Dewford Island." May said, surprising Norman and Caroline.
"Dewford? Why did you go there rather than stay in Rustboro?" Asked Norman, assuming she took a ferry straight to Dewford after reaching Rustboro City.
"I actually got a ride from a nice old man, named Mr. Briney, on Route 104. I figured since Roxanne specializes in Rock-type Pokémon; I should wait to challenge her until I have a Pokémon effective against Rock-types. And I remembered the Dewford Gym Leader, Brawly, specializes in Fighting-types. Which Torchic and Ralts would be super effective against." Explained May, surprising her parents again before they smiled proudly.
"You've certainly thought this through, May. You're really shaping up to be a splendid Trainer." Stated Caroline, with Norman nodding in agreement.
"Your mom's right, May, you've put a lot of thought into the first Gym you want to take on. But if you're going to battle Brawly first, May, then you should know that he's a very strong Gym Leader. Even against Pokémon that Fighting-types are weak against, he's still a challenging opponent, along with having trained his team to use the environment to their advantage. He's also studied under Chuck, the Cianwood Gym Leader in Johto, so he's very proficient in using Fighting-type Pokémon." Norman warned, making May gulp at hearing how strong Brawly is.
"Oh, I…didn't know all that." Muttered May, starting to wish she did go challenge Roxanne first rather than deciding to face one of the stronger Gym Leaders in Hoenn.
"But that doesn't mean he's impossible to beat for fresh Trainers since a good number of Trainers that have beaten Roxanne as their first Gym Battle usually challenge Brawly next. Given how Dewford Island is just a ferry ride away from Rustboro City. So while he'll be a tough battle, with enough training, I'm sure you'll be able to win." Added Norman, assuring May that it wouldn't be impossible for her to challenge and beat Brawly.
"Okay, that's good to know. Thanks for the information, dad." May said, smiling gratefully at her father.
"Trainer May, your Pokémon have been fully healed and waiting for you at the counter."
"Oh! Sorry to cut the call short, mom, dad, but my name was just called at the counter to grab my Pokémon." Said May, with Norman and Caroline nodding in understanding.
"It's fine dear, go get your team and get some rest. Be sure to call again soon, let us know when you've gotten your first Gym Badge." Said Caroline as she smiled encouragingly at their daughter.
"Or call if you need help with anything else, we'll be here if you need it." Norman said, making May smile at them.
"I will guys, talk to you again soon. Bye!" May said while waving to her parents as the call ended and she hung up the phone.
Returning to the counter, May saw Nurse Joy and Chansey back along with a tray holding her Pokéballs.
"Here you are, May. Your Torchic, Ralts and Lillipup are all rested and healed. And here you go, I took the liberty of grabbing a room key for you since I'm sure you're eager to get some rest of your own." Said Nurse Joy, smiling as she handed May a room key, much to the brunette's gratitude.
"Thank you so much, Nurse Joy. Both for healing up my team and the room." Replied May, with the pinkette nodding in response.
"I'm happy to help, be sure to stop by again if you need anything else." Nurse Joy said as May returned the nod as she grabbed her Pokéballs, before going up to her room.
Checking her room key to see what number room she was in, the Trainer soon found it and went inside, closing and locking the door behind her in relief.
"Thank Arceus." May said, dropping her bag beside the bed and placing her Pokéballs on the bed itself.

Going towards it, May mentally prepared herself for whatever Pokémon Brawly would use and any strategies he had in store for her. Only to be shocked, and honestly a little disappointed, when she reached the Gym only to see a note on the doors.
'It's closed? Oh man…and I was actually starting to feel eager to battle a Gym Leader.' May thought, seeing that the Gym is closed because Brawly had gone out surfing with some of his Gym Trainers and pupils.
Looking the note over, May felt a little better to see it also showed the best times Gym Challengers could stop by to battle Brawly. Glad that she won't have to just keep coming back to see if he's here or not.
'Well I'll just have to wait until he comes back. Until then, I'll get some shopping done.' Thought May, figuring she could use the time to do some shopping.

Lillipup yipped while wagging his tail, eager for whatever May had planned for them.
"Alright, so we're on Dewford Island now. Which means we'll be battling the Dewford Gym Leader, Brawly, who specializes in Fighting-type Pokémon. That mean I'll be using you two, Torchic and Ralts, since you both have moves that are super effective against Fighting-types. But the Gym is closed at the moment, so until it's open again we'll be training." May explained.
"Tor!" Torchic jumped up with a determined look on her face, ready to battle anyone.
"Ra-Ralts!" Ralts nodded at this, though still avoided looking at May, something the brunette noticed.
"Is everything okay, Ralts?" Questioned May while crouching down and looking at the Psychic/Fairy-type, with Ralts quickly nodding her head.
"R-Ralts! Ralts-Ralts-Ralts-Ralts!" Ralts nodded with her blush growing as she looked at her Trainer, quickly looking away as May kept looking at her.
"O…kay? Anyway…since I'll be using you two, for training, Torchic will be working on making her Peck attack even stronger, along with improving Quick Attack and Flame Charge. That way you'll be able to hit fast and hard, while being able to dodge just as quickly too." May said, with the Chick Pokémon nodding in response.
"And Ralts, Brawly's apparently good at having his Pokémon use the environment to their advantage, so Confusion will be a good move to use the environment against them. So, you'll be working on improving Confusion and the amount of objects you can lift, as well as having a stronger grip on opponents." Said May, before frowning in concern when Ralts simply nodded without looking at her.
"Right… Okay then, so Torchic you'll practicing Peck and Quick Attack on the trees, rush at one as fast as you can then hit with Peck, but then I want you to immediately go to another. As for Flame Charge, target some of the rocks around here, and see about combining them with Peck as you hit them." Said May as the Fire Starter nodded before she quickly used Quick Attack towards a tree.
"Ralts for you, you'll be using Confusion on anything you can lift up. Do that to lift as many objects as you can until you reach your limit, then keep them in the air for as long as you can. Once you feel yourself unable to keep them up any more, start using Disarming Voice to destroy them. Then repeat the process to build up your mental powers and the strength of Disarming Voice." May said, watching Ralts in confusion as she simply rushed over to begin lifting things up.
Before the brunette's attention turned to her third Pokémon, seeing Lillipup at her feet pawing at her legs and looking at her hopefully, making May smile as she patted him on the head.
"Don't worry Lillipup, I haven't forgotten about you. While I won't be using you in the Gym Battle, you'll still get some training done. But rather than working on any moves, you'll be working on your physical abilities, improving your strength, speed, endurance and stamina. I'll be working right alongside you, too!" May said, making the Puppy Pokémon yip excitedly at training with his Trainer.
"Alright, let's start with some laps!" Said May with Lillipup immediately taking off running, much to May's amusement before she followed after him.
As she and Lillipup ran around the clearing, May looked at Torchic and Ralts to see how they were doing with their training. Smiling proudly as she saw Torchic rushing around between the trees, pecking at them with her beak once she was close enough before immediately jumping off of them. Along with occasionally landing on the ground as she was covered in flames before charging at some rocks.
Though when she looked at Ralts, the Trainer was confused and worried at seeing the Feeling Pokémon actually seemed to be struggling lifting up some rocks and logs. The sight worried May since she's seen Ralts be able to lift the training posts at the Petalburg Gym without any problem while using Confusion.
"Ralts? Are you sure you're okay?" May asked as she ran over and crouched down beside Ralts, making her jump in surprise and lose her concentration, cause the objects to fall to the ground.
"R-Ra-R-Ralts!" Ralts quickly nodded, fidgeting nervously under her Trainer's concerned looked, only to blush brightly when May touched her forehead.
"Are you sure you're not feeling sick or anything? You feel pretty warm. Do you need to go back to the Pokémon Center?" May asked, wondering if Ralts was getting sick, only for the Psychic/Fairy-type Pokémon to quickly move back and shake her head.
"Ralts! R-R-Ra-Ra-Ralts-Ralts-Ra-Ralts!" Ralts forced herself to look at May without blushing, finding it difficult when she could sense the brunette's emotions and the concern she felt towards her, as well as her desire to make sure nothing's wrong.
"You really don't need anything? Any help at all?" Asked May as Ralts nodded shakily, smiling reassuringly at her Trainer to show she's fine.
"Well…if you're sure. Just let me know if you need anything, I don't want any of you hiding anything. Especially if you're hurt or sick. You're part of my team and I want to make sure you all are perfectly healthy and comfortable, okay. So don't worry, if you need something or want to rest, just ask." May said while smiling and patting Ralts on the head.
"Ralts." Ralts smiled as she leaned into May's touch, only to freeze and blush brightly when she remembered where May's hands had been not too long ago.
The brunette was confused when Ralts quickly moved back and went back to her training, looking to still have trouble for a few moments before managing to lift some objects into the air.
'I think I still have a lot to learn about how Pokémon behave.' May thought while shaking her head, before returning to her training with Lillipup.
*Later*
May and her team continued training for a few hours, only stopping once the sun began setting before she returned them to their Pokéballs and headed back to the Pokémon Center. Feeling please at the progress they made, but was still confused at Ralts' behavior. Having seen she still seemed to have trouble concentrating, even more so whenever she checked on her. But no matter how many time she asked, May couldn't get an answer from Ralts if she was alright.
After arriving back at the Pokémon Center, May went over to one of the PCs to look up new moves she could teach her Pokémon. Not wanting them to be reliant on the moves they had since it'd make them predictable.
'Let's see…Torchic can learn Detect, that'd be a good move to help protect her from powerful attacks. Sand Attack, I know, is good to make it difficult for opponents to attack… Oh, Aerial Ace! That'd be a really good move for Torchic to learn, giving her another Flying-type attack. There's also Sunny Day to boost her Fire-type attacks and her Egg Move, Feather Dance, to make opponents' attacks weaker.' May thought, smiling at the moves Torchic could learn.
'Then Ralts can also learn Hypnosis, that'd be really useful to put Pokémon to sleep. Draining Kiss, another Fairy-type move that not only damages opponents, but helps heal the user too. Wow, she could also learn moves like Shadow Balls, Magical Leaf, Icy Wind and Thunderbolt?! Ralts could really have a wide range of attacks, but some of them look like they should be saved until she evolves and grows stronger. But some other moves, I could see about having her unlock Confuse Ray and Mystical Fire. Psybeam would be a good move to get her started on, giving Ralts another Psychic-type move. She can also learn Sunny Day along with Rain Dance, both would be good moves. There's also Reflect and Dazzling Gleam.' Thought May, amazed at the wide variety of moves Ralts can learn before picking out the ones she felt would be best to have Ralts learn at her current level.
'And Lillipup has Play Rough, Crunch which seems like just a stronger version of Bite so it shouldn't be too difficult to learn. He can also learn Dig and Rock Tomb. The Elemental Fang attacks dad told me about, those are definitely some moves that I need to teach Lillipup. There's also Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Snarl, Hyper Voice, Uproar. A lot of these moves seem like they'd be too strong, but Lillipup should be able to learn Dig, Snarl, Rock Tomb and Crunch to give him plenty of coverage moves. And if I can teach him the Elemental Fang attacks then he'd have moves for basically any opponent. I should also keep an eye out for the TMs for the Elemental Fangs to help Lillipup and other Pokémon that I catch to learn them faster.' May thought upon seeing while Lillipup can learn a good variety of moves, they're also really strong, too strong for him at his current level.
'Is there anything else…Will-O-Wisp? Oh, that looks like it'd be perfect!' Thought May as she saw that both Torchic and Ralts can both learn Will-O-Wisp.
Remembering Max's lessons on status effects, most notably how burning a Pokémon can also weaken their physical attacks in addition to burning them as long as they were in battle.
'And since Brawly is a Fighting-type specialist, that means the majority of his moves should be physical attacks. Which would be weakened by Will-O-Wisp. This is definitely a move I need to teach Torchic and Ralts.' May thought while smiling as she wrote down all the moves she wanted to teach her Pokémon for the time being.
Once she had all the moves written down, May left the PC and went over to the meeting area.
"Hey, do any of you know any good training spots around here? Or any good places to catch Pokémon?" May asked, getting the Trainers' attention.
"A good spot to catch some Pokémon? You'd definitely want to check Granite Cave, it's got plenty of Pokémon inside like Zubat, Aron, Sableye and Makuhita just to name a few. You might even see some rarer Pokémon, like Mawile and Abra, though Abra are difficult to catch since they usually teleport away if you aren't fast enough. It's also a good training spot too, with the variety of Pokémon. Especially if you're planning on challenging Brawly as you can get plenty of experience battling the Makuhita in the cave." One of the Trainers said, with the others nodding in agreement.
"If you're looking for Water-types though, then they're pretty easy to find while fishing or on any of the beaches." Said another Trainer.
"Though be careful if you go fishing, there's also hordes of Carvanah and Sharpedo around Dewford, and they're pretty vicious. But if you're feeling daring, you could try catching one since they can be powerful Pokémon." A Trainer warned, making May gulp at hearing this.
'Catching a Water-type Pokémon would be good though, but preferably one that can be on land.' May thought, knowing a Water-type would be a good addition as long as it could be on land, otherwise she'd be pretty limited in where she could use it.
"If you plan on training in the forest, be careful about where you go. Otherwise you could end up on Mr. Swampy's property." Said a Trainer, making the brunette look at them in confusion.
"Mr. Swampy?" Questioned May, confused at the strange name.
"He runs a shelter on Dewford that raises Mudkips, the Pokémon League send him tons of eggs to hatch and raise as Starter Pokémon for new Trainers. And he can be really protective of the Mudkips he raises." A Trainer replied, with May nodding in understanding.
*Later*
May stayed in the meeting area until the sun had fully set, asking more about places to catch Pokémon and where to train. As well as other information like the best beaches to go to, and any other interesting sights to see on Dewford.
After learning everything she wanted to know, May had gone to get to some dinner while letting her team out to eat as well, before returning to her room once they finished. Taking another shower to get cleaned up from her training, while being able to focus on just cleaning up thanks to having already gotten her release earlier.
'Even if I didn't get to challenge the Gym, today turned out pretty productive. I did some shopping, got some training done, learned plenty of new moves to teach my Pokémon and I learned more about Dewford. I'd say that's a successful day.' May thought as she put on her pajama's.
Once she was dressed, May crawled into bed and drifted off to sleep, feeling eager about what else she'll be able to do during her time on Dewford.
So, what did you think, good. Yep we see May leaving her Pokémon with Nurse Joy to be healed while calling Professor Birch and her parents, learning more about Brawly and how strong of an opponent he'll be. Before she retrieves her Pokémon once her name is called and going up to her room, where she's takes full advantage of the privacy, unaware Ralts watched her while she was in the shower.
Then we see her heading to the Gym, only to find it closed much to her disappointment as she'd started looking forward to battling Brawly. Before she decides to go shopping, picking up some supplies and several new bikinis, which she admires herself in.
Before she then gets some training done, having Torchic and Ralts prepare for when they'll face Brawly, while also getting some physical training done with Lillipup. Though May is confused when she sees Ralts having trouble focusing and becomes flustered when she gets near her, only for Ralts to assure she's fine and tries focusing on her training.
Finally we see May looking up some moves to teach her team, finding some good ones they'll be able to learn. Before asking around about places to train on Dewford and where she could catch some Pokémon, as well as other interesting spots including the best beaches. With her returning to her room after dinner to shower from training and go to sleep, feeling eager to further explore Dewford. So, for those that like the story, thanks for your support. For those that don't or at least don't like the direction taken, you're more than welcomed to drop the story. But thanks for giving the story a chance anyway.
