"My name is Amy Rose. I'm a hedgehog from Christmas Island, well known for its Kingdom of Snow region. I'm writing this journal to recount the events present here. I will update as accurately as I can based on what I find or hear. Never Lake Island is a very unknown island - no inhabitants, no real civilization, just a large lake in the center of the island where something appears every one hundred years. Having read about it at my home's local library, I decided to invite Tekno on this trip in hopes her scientific know-how will get me through this expedition. Wish me luck! - Amy Rose, Soon-to-be Archeologist"
At the Egg Citadel in the renamed Robotropolis, Sage was analyzing the files she had taken from the destroyed Death Egg. Some were unfortunately destroyed during the crash, corrupting them, but the few files that did remain did feature plans that her father would likely find pleasing. Nearby, Metal Sonic leaned against the wall, arms crossed. As he stood there, the doors slide open as Omelette walks in.
Omelette: "Ugh! My project is on hold because I need some really good power sources to power my new toys! Frustrating! So very frustrating!'"
Sage: "Omelette, have you ever heard of "inside voice"? You should try it some time."
Omelette: "Oh shut up, you glitch in the matrix. Anyway, what are all these files?"
Sage: "These are from the Death Egg. Some were unfortunately corrupted, but the rest remain intact. Father will surely be pleased by this news."
As Sage goes through the files, Omelette sees one labeled "Mysterious Planetoid". She stops Sage and opens the file.
Omelette: "A mysterious planetoid? What's this about?"
Sage: "Oh. Very little importance. Our father simply planned to turn that into a potential base of operations. Perhaps if Mobius ended up becoming a lost cause after all. Unfortunately, the planetoid's appearance is often considered inconvenient."
Omelette then gets a bright idea, causing her to smile evilly. She then turns to Sage with an innocent child-like look.
Omelette: "What if someone else makes that base of operations for Papa instead then?"
Sage just lazily moves her eyes to Omelette, barely paying attention.
Omelette: "I'm in the market for a new set of materials and what better place to start a simple mining operation than on an unknown planetoid? I get my materials, set up a base for Papa to commune with, and everything goes hunky-dory! Of course, I'd need to borrow your hedgehog bot over there to-"
Metal Sonic: "Not interested."
Omelette pauses before she turns over to Metal Sonic, walking over to him, glaring at him with intense fury at his rejection.
Omelette: "What do you mean "Not interested"? I don't remember asking you to come; I am ordering you to come, you piece of-"
Metal Sonic makes a quick motion to grab Omelette by the mouth, lifting her off the ground. Sage is paying very little attention to this scene, but does glance every so often to see what was happening. Metal's grip tightens as he glares deeply at the brat robot who tried to order him around.
Metal Sonic: "My interest does not concern some stupid planetoid for your dumb, inferior machines. My only interest is my inferior copy, Sonic. Nothing else. You want my attention, you bring me Sonic. Otherwise… Order me around again, and I will eagerly turn your head into a volleyball. Do I make myself clear?"
Omelette desperately nodded, not wanting to lose her head to a rogue robot. Metal Sonic then tosses her to the wall across the room, denting it before he returned to his more relaxed posture. Sage then finally spoke up.
Sage: "I should have warned you that Metal Sonic seems to have a unique form of AI. An almost free will type like yours or my own. However, his loyalties to our father are… yet to be seen."
Omelette: "Yeah, thanks for the warning after I almost lost my head, you stupid piece of software!"
Sage just rolls her eyes as she continues to scan through her files. She then notices the Egg Robos beginning to mobilize elsewhere. Considering she's making note of this, she finds that more entertaining to herself than listening to Omelette.
Omelette: "Fine! I have an alternative to your stupid hog bot there anyway. And with it, and my own selection of robots and mechs, I'll be able to construct the ultimate base… Minions! Prepare the Metallic Madness Base for take-off!"
Omelette begins to laugh as she leaves the room, Sage just sighing in relief that she was gone.
Sage: "...Running Anti-Headache Protocol."
Outside the citadel, an egg-shaped portion of the base detaches from the building before hovering over the city. With rockets, the egg-shaped base flies off in a direction, heading straight to Never Lake Island.
On Never Lake Island, a pink hedgehog is seen dragging her and her green bird friend's boat onto the beach front, just far enough away from the water that a high tide won't just steal their ride off.
Green Bird: "Okay, Amy. We're here, but… Why are we here again?"
Amy: "Exploration. Discovery. And adventure!"
Amy poses, pointing her finger forward as she smiles with excitement. The bird could only stare with an unethusiastic look.
Green Bird: "...And what does that have to do with me?"
Amy: "Aw, come on, Tekno. Don't be such a grouch. You know I like having you have my back. Especially when it comes to smarts."
Tekno: "Ugh… Ruffle my feathers why don't you… Fine, I guess there could be something of value here…"
Amy ties up their boat to a nearby tree before pulling out a book, reading a passage out of it.
Amy: "According to the Book of Myths… "On the island of Never Lake, a planet of mysterious origin appears every one hundred years. My studies of this planet show that it has strange mystical properties. Some even state that it exists in a perpetual past, present, and future, as if it exists in a temporal space of its own." Weird, huh?"
Tekno: "That is scientifically impossible. Existing in the past, present, and future would make it a paradox. It can't exist in all three at the same time."
Amy: "The book doesn't claim it exists in all three at the same time. Just that it can exist in them at all."
Amy pockets the book before raising an outstretched hand to the heavens. Light particles start to gather, taking a shape before a red and yellow hammer poofs into Amy's hand.
Amy: "Ready, Tekky?"
Tekno: "Sigh… We've come this far…"
Tekno grabs Amy by her hand. The two get a running start before Amy slams her hammer to the ground, vaulting her into the sky. Tekno quickly moves above Amy as her arms turn into bird wings, allowing her to maintain flight. Amy grabs onto Tekno's feet as the bird flies them over the island to the titular Never Lake the island is named after.
At the Never Lake, Amy and Tekno land to find the lake itself in the midst of a green mountainous range, the beautiful blue lake sparkling under the sun's shining rays.
Amy: "Whoa… So beautiful…"
Tekno: "No kidding. Okay, even if the planetoid doesn't exist, the lake alone is worthy enough for the trip."
Amy: "Oh NOW it's worth it?~"
Amy smiles teasingly as Tekno just blushes, looking away as she clears her throat.
Tekno: "Ahem… So where's this planetoid we're looking for anyway? According to my calculations, it should have been the one hundredth year since it last appeared on Mobius yesterday."
Amy: "Hmm…"
Amy takes out her Book of Myths again, turning to a page showing the planetoid appearing high in the sky, slowly descending to show that it would vanish soon on the third day of its century visit.
Amy: "Well… If it appeared yesterday… Then it should be high in the sky."
Amy looks up, but something else catches Tekno's attention; a mountain in the distance with a chain connected to it, going upwards. Tekno follows the chain, looking up with Amy to see… The planetoid, but with lights forming a large smiling face. Unknown to them, this face resembled Omelette's own, indicating her presence on the planetoid. Amy and Tekno stare in shock at this for a moment before Amy looks at the picture of the planetoid, to compare.
Amy: "Something's wrong. That's… That is the Miracle Planet up there alright. But it looks… wrong!"
Tekno: "Not just wrong. It looks evil… Come on. We need to leave."
Amy looks at the planet before glaring, running quickly to the mountain, causing Tekno to call out to her.
Amy: "If you want to leave, go ahead, Tekno! But whatever is happening to Miracle Planet, I won't abide by it!"
Tekno: "B-But Amy! …Aw, tartar sauce… Why does she have to be so difficult…?"
As Amy ran toward the mountain, Tekno flew after her, catching up easily to talk to her.
Tekno: "Look, if you're serious about heading up there, then you know your mom would KILL me if I let you go alone!"
Amy: "So you'll help me?"
Tekno: "We'll check the situation and see if it is worth sticking our noses into. If it's nothing, we leave right away. Deal?"
Amy smiles at Tekno before jumping and grabbing Tekno by her legs again, the two flying up the chain and towards the Miracle Planet. As the two fly up the chain, some buzzing could be heard as a bug-like robot appears shortly after the duo were gone.
Bug: "Hm? That's not good… Better follow and hope they don't get into trouble…"
The bug-like robot then follows, keeping their distance away from the duo of explorers as they all head towards the Eggman Occupied Miracle Planet…
To be continued…
