Author's Note: Stage one! Other than few changes, I feel that this stage has pretty similar feel to the original game. Without further ado, please enjoy the chapter!

Sanae was flying over the mountains near the Mayohiga.

She was being slowed down a bit by the cold weather and snow, but it was nothing she couldn't handle.

The wind priestess was a bit surprised that it was relatively peaceful for now. She expected to be attacked by now, but it appears that there was nothing?

Then danmaku flew right past her. Speaking of the devil.

She was attacked by the fairies, it was to be expected though, fairies are connected by the nature, and the nature was out of whack now by this winter overstaying its welcome. So it wasn't any surprise that they were going crazy.

The wind priestess quickly dodged the incoming projectiles and fired danmaku of her own at her attackers.

She was exterminating the rampaging fairies and moving forward, after a while, there was nobody firing at her anymore.

Sanae stopped to take a small breather.

-I guess that's all of them.

But suddenly she saw an icicle flying towards her, she quickly dodged it.

An icicle? Would that mean that, the ice fairy is also here?

She looked in front of her, and sure enough the self-proclaimed "strongest fairy" was flying towards her.

-It's you again, human!

Sanae nodded in acknowledgement.

-Ah, hello there. Your name was Cirno, right?

The ice fairy looked proud at mention of her name.

-That's right! But how do you know my name? I haven't told you before.

The wind priestess sheepishly scratched the back of her head.

-Ahahaha, Meiling told me that you kept trying to invade the mansion, and after you got defeated you would every time say that "the strongest fairy Cirno will be back to exact her revenge!"

Cirno put hands on her hips.

-And I will eventually take that mansion for my own! I just need to figure out how to get rid of that gatekeeper first.

-I think the gatekeeper is the least of your issue in your plan to claim the mansion...

The ice fairy then pointed a finger at Sanae.

-But enough of that! I haven't forgotten how you humia- I mean humilie-

-It's humiliated.

-Yeah! That! Humil-something me!

-But it was you, who wanted me to use my strongest spell card.

-You didn't tell me that you were that strong! But that doesn't matter now, because I'm even stronger than before! I'll show you just how I improved!

The ice fairy declared Frost Sign "Frost Columns"

The ice shaped danmaku filled the sky and was flying towards the wind priestess.

Sanae dodged it with ease, however, she had to admit that it was a definite improvement from the previous spell card that the ice fairy used back in that incident.

-Nice try! But you're not the only one that was training hard during this time!

The wind priestess declared Esoterica "Secretly Inherited Art of Danmaku"

Cirno was absolutely bewildered at the amount of danmaku that the wind priestess fired. She tried to dodge it, but she was quickly overwhelmed and pelleted by the danmaku, causing her to explode in "pichuun" explosion.

Sanae quickly dissolved her spell card.

Uh-oh. I think she went a bit overboard again. But thankfully the ice fairy would regenerate in a bit anyway.

The wind priestess mentally noted that next time she should use her weakest spell card and hope that the ice fairy would be able to dodge it, so she wouldn't feel bad for trying too hard on her.

She then continued flying towards Mayohiga.

Sanae was flying for a bit, when she noticed that it started getting colder all of a sudden.

She stopped and rubbed her hands against each other to warm up.

-Brrrrrrr. Even though I'm wearing my winter clothes, it's still really cold.

The wind priestess then heard a voice behind her.

-Then perhaps you should take a nap to warm yourself up?

She stopped rubbing her hands and faced the person behind her.

She had lavender eyes and curly lavender hair. She was wearing a blue and white dress with a white apron in front of it. Furthermore, she was wearing a white cap and a cape.

-I think I would most likely die from the cold than warm up, though.

-Then you're a type of human that only sleeps when it's warm?

-Well, I don't mind a little bit of cold, but this is just too much for me.

The woman grimaced.

-What a needy girl you are. And telling right in front of winter youkai that it's too cold for her.

-Winter youkai? Then you're the one behind this incident?

She chuckled.

-And what would you do if I told you that I am?

Sanae frowned.

-I would ask you to stop this. You're disturbing the natural flow of nature.

The youkai laughed.

-That just wouldn't do to convince me now, would it?

The wind priestess fumed over this. She was getting tired of this youkai's games.

-Then I would just beat you up for endangering the Gensokyo!

-That's more like it!

The winter youkai declared Cold Sign "Lingering Cold"

The snow-shaped danmaku appeared around the youkai and started flying towards the wind priestess.

Sanae noticed that the temperature dropped even more during this spell card, that she was shivering. It was really hard to focus during this kind of cold, but she managed to dodge it with some difficulty.

-Very impressive. I wouldn't have thought that a human would be able to withstand this kind of cold.

-After training for so long, I wouldn't lose to just any youkai!

The wind priestess declared Miracle "Daytime Guest Stars"

The youkai was dodging through it without many issues, however Sanae noticed that she was moving a bit sloppily, just like she was tired.

-Same goes for me. I don't plan on losing to just some simple human anytime soon!

She then declared Winter Sign "Flower Wither Away"

Sanae once again dodged through it, the youkai was still decreasing temperature during her spell cards, so it wasn't that easy, but the danmaku pattern wasn't that terribly hard to dodge through even with that disadvantage.

The wind priestess decided to use something that required mobility, so she would strike at her opponent's weakness.

She declared Sea Opening "Moses's Miracle"

The winter youkai was trying her best, but she quickly was overwhelmed by the fast pattern of Sanae's spell card and got pelleted by the danmaku and fell down to the ground.

The wind priestess quickly dissolved the spell card and landed on the ground to check on the youkai.

-Are you okay?

The youkai slowly nodded.

-Yes, yes. I'm fine.

Sanae was glad that she defeated the mastermind, she was surprised that this incident was much easier to solve than previous one, who could have guessed that the youkai that could extend the winter was that weak at fighting.

-Since I defeated you, could you stop this winter?

The youkai chuckled.

-Sorry to say, but I was just teasing you. I have no connection to this incident whatsoever. It's really painful for me too, to have this long winter, you know. I can't even hibernate to regain my strength.

The wind priestess was really disappointed to hear, that it was just a ruse.

-Wait, so I got worked up just for nothing?

She nodded.

-Yep.

Sanae groaned, then flied up and started flying towards Mayohiga again. She shouldn't waste any time on detours, and playing games. She had limited amount of supplies and didn't want to be sick because of too long exposure to cold weather.

The winter youkai got up from the ground and brushed snow from her dress.

She looked at the girl that was flying away in the distance.

-What an odd girl.

She then too flied away in a different direction.
