Maverick Thorn is from a military family, he is the oldest among the four siblings. His father and the fathers before were all the heroes of the imperium. Due to the recent unknown origin series of disasters, they are finally putting their training into use. The smallest brother's name is Kamin, who is currently stationed in the Northern HQ of the imperium air force. Antony works for the special forces, at last Robert works for the Ground force division. All of them play an important role in their divisions, and all of them are honored to serve the emperor.
Even Maverick is the biggest brother in the family but he's not very "family attentive", just like in his name, in real life he's a loner. Of Course, he sometimes feels lonely as well, but he usually channels all of those emotions into work, therefore making him a great covert operative. Despite being only a lieutenant, he's always engaging in different types of missions, making him a real veteran during the combat, his greatest story that has been told in the force is the mission in the Eastern desert, where he single-handedly took down a terrorist group with a handgun that has only a single clip of ammo. Despite being one of the top stars in the army, he's still not very happy about the current situation. His model is efficiency, he usually prefers the best way to end a fight, whether through lethal forces or through basic negotiation.
Maverick had friends and they were all close friends of his, but now most of them are now gone, either killed or moved away due to various reasons. But his friends usually describe that he's a sensitive person and things like that. But to be honest, not even Maverick himself believes it. That is until he's moved to the high command of the Naval forces. Where the person who's in charge is Nova Terra. Maverick was always a 'fanboy' of Nova, not only because Nova is like a military legend among the newbies, but also her personal charm. That charm froze away hundreds of young advancers, yet it attracted Maverick like a moth to fire.
The first time Maverick met Nova in person was at the time during a daemon repel mission, where they had to push back a horde of daemons from a spawn hole. As Nova single-handedly takes down a mega-size daemon that can smash a battle tank with ease, Maverick felt something beating in his chest for a long time. Then he tried all he could to finally be in Nova's personal squad where the most dangerous missions are done. Yet Maverick never cared about danger, his whole actions are all based on trying to get closer to Nova.
In the oil rig, when Maverick was tending Nova's wounds, his heart was actually racing badly, but his profession as being a soldier has kept his face straight even though he was amazed at how beautiful Nova is close up. When both of their eyes look into each other, a spark between them is formed. Nova's frozen heart starts to melt, she could feel that the guy in front of her understands her struggle and tiredness throughout the years of advancing in rank. Whenever she's talking to him, she feels peace. Which is a feeling that hasn't been around for Nova ever since she decided to become the most renowned general of the Imperium army.
Even before the day Maverick confessed his feelings to Nova, she could already sense something is going to happen between them due to being a ghost unit, they are granted the power to slightly 'predict' the future due to the psychic training. That's why she's been secretly discussing with her people in HR to talk about the feasibility and consequences. But being publicly in a relationship in the army with a subordinate will surely affect her career. That's why Nova already made her plan about their relationship. Even the plan might seem…' psychotic' as an outsider. This is how Nova does everything, no matter how little the matter is, she always has an extremely detailed plan with several contingency plans.
But when Maverick had the nerve to talk with Nova that evening, she completely destroyed her plan, because apparently Maverick is more direct than she thought thus no amount of plan will work if the "enemy" is taking a straight approach. That's why she gave him a stalling answer so she can think about a response. Nova is not very experienced or creative unlike her sister with emotions and stuff, that's why she called in one of her subordinates: Noel Vermillion. Who is basically the girl that screamed on the oil rig. Even it's a psychotic thing to assume, but she thinks Noel might know a lot about things between man and woman. That's exactly why she invited Noel to come to her house for a cup of 'tea'.
In the afternoon Noel came to Nova's house on time and carrying a small gift. "Good afternoon, Major!" She beams with energy.
"Afternoon lieutenant Vermillion," Nova greets while having a polite smile.
"You are my superior and we are outside of work, maybe you can just call me Noel instead….." while saying that Noel lowers her face and avoids direct eye contact. Honestly, she's terrified of Nova, she wanted to transfer away from the squad, but her papers were always somehow lost in the process.
Nova has never seen anything like that before, the shy look and informal conversation approach are new to her, she always separates her life and work but if she has to be honest the only life, she has is her sister. Now she's sure that she can learn a lot of things from Noel today, starting with this moment.
For Noel, this is not the first time she's been in this house. Back when she was in middle school, Monika used to invite Noel to come and have fun. Even during that time, Noel knows the relationship issue between Monika and Nova. Despite being so close with her sister, Nova never saw Noel before until when Noel was promoted as a lieutenant. And when she knows that Noel and Monika are good friends, her first reaction was jealousy.
"So… what do we do today?" Noel sipping the tea that Nova made, it's a special type of tea that's supposed to be for the generals of the imperium, under unknown circumstances Nova also got it.
"I don't know...Why don't we drink in silence?" Nova replies.
'" Ehhhh, what?" Noel is really confused.
Suddenly Nova realizes the reason she invited Noel to come is to learn from her 'stupid' attitude then Nova gives a heartwarming smile:" I mean why don't you tell me more about yourself? Because I think it's kind of essential for team buildings.
Noel always wanted to bond more with Nova, because ever since she's little with Monika she wants to hang out with both of the Terra sisters one day. Before she said anything, she suddenly remembered what Monika said to her almost a decade ago:" Please, don't tell Nova about our friendship under any circumstances if she wants to talk to you…. Because she will get jealous and ruin it for everyone." Noel still remembers it, however. She always thinks that Nova is a warm-hearted person despite being very harsh outside. But instead of being direct with Nova, she started with a self-introduction.
"So, my name is Noel vermillion. I am 23 years old, and I am a lieutenant of the imperial Naval forces…" suddenly Nova interrupted her.
"I know all about it, Noel. Why don't you tell me something I don't know, like your friends and family?" Nova poured another cup of tea,
"So, I went to the Elite Academie." again Nova interrupted her by putting her teacup on the table loudly. A bit of tea poured out.
"You were in my school? Why don't I remember you?" Nova asks with a suspicious gaze. She's doing this intentionally to see how Noel would react and how far has Monika brainwashed Noel regarding their relationship.
Noel is a bit terrified; she did not expect Nova would give such a reaction when hearing about some basic information.:" I… I was there, it's just I'm not in the higher classes because I wasn't very good at studying…" Noel said it meanwhile lowering her head, not because she's ashamed but trying to avoid eye contact with the living devil sitting across her.
But at some point, Nova is kind of relieved: "So, you are like my sister who's not competent enough to be in the higher class." She made it sound like an insult because if she has the same experience with an idiot like Noel, she will spend the whole week reevaluating her life. "So... Do you know my sister? She should be in your grades and there weren't a lot of people."
"No, not really. What is your sister's name again? I don't recall another Terra in my class at least." Noel decides to not betray her friend. Instead, she makes sure that Nova will never suspect them.
Nova suddenly walks up to Noel and sits beside her; she then proceeds to use her arm to wrap Noel's shoulder with a firm grab. She then whispers next to her ear:" Don't play dumb with me Noel, if you say anything that is a lie. I will make your life miserable."
Noel couldn't move an inch, the only thing she did was nod her head rapidly. Then Nova suddenly releases Noel and then lays back on the couch beside her.
"So, did you make any friends in the army?" Nova says with a bright smile as if nothing happened 30 seconds ago. "I can introduce you to some of my colleagues if you want to be in a relationship."
Noel waves both of her hands:" Noo. it's fine, I am not really ready to be in a relationship yet…" Not because she doesn't want to find one, but she can't really be in debt with her boss. God knows what kind of horrible thing Nova is going to let Noel do in order to repay her.
"You must like someone at least, give me a name. I'm really interested." Nova said.
"Ah, no worries, I don't really have anyone in mind." Noel gently put down her teacup.
"GIVE ME A NAME!" Nova said it very loudly.
"MMMaverick Thorn, I usually hang out with him!" Noel said it while almost in tears.
In this split second, a lot of things have gone through Nova's mind. But eventually, Nova decides to talk more about it, before of course, she makes sure that Noel doesn't leave this house ever again.
Noel has a bit of blush red color on her cheek, this is the first time Noel admits that she likes Maverick. Of course, her life might be in danger if she continues. "He usually helps me with paperwork and reports since I'm not very good with those. And every now and then I make food for him because he said that he likes my cooking."
"Oh really? Can you cook for me today? I really want to try it out if everyone says so." Nova says that with a calm look on her face. She's calm because, if Noel knows so much about Maverick, maybe she can know more thus benefits from it.
"I... I don't think I can today." Noel wants to leave this place because she can already sense something bad is going to happen. But then Nova wraps Noel's head with her arm looking at her while blinking like a sad child.
"I'm kind of lonely when my sister isn't home… maybe next time I can introduce her to you so we can hang out together." She said it with a sad tone as if she's about to cry,
If there are two things she cannot resist, one is the fact that she can continue her friendship with Monika without obstruction the second is when people are begging her for her help. "I... suppose I can push away my other plans and stay with you tonight…" As if she got a great idea;" Can I invite Maverick to come as well? He usually is free at this time."
Nova's cloud in her heart suddenly washed away in an instant:" Sure, why don't you call him now?" Nova hid her excitement, the fact this night just turned from a simple interrogation to a half date makes her feel very happy.
That's until someone opened the door, "I'm back sis~" Monika came in with a bright smile on her face. She sees Noel and Nova sitting with each other and seems to be having a lot of fun.
Monika gives a cold stare to Noel without saying anything then storms into her room. Meanwhile, Nova squeezes Noel harder with her arm, making them look like best friends ever. Monika's reaction is rather predictable and satisfactory.
"Do you really think you can fool me throughout the years?" Nova whispers to Noel's ears. "I always know that you and Monika are good friends, I personally wouldn't change that because we were in school. But…" Nova pulls out a big bright smile "Now, it doesn't really matter, because what I always wanted is fulfilled."
Just as Nova was about to continue to give her speech of victory, the doorbell rang. It's Maverick. Nova quickly leaves Noel on the sofa and then goes to answer the door. As Nova left, Noel quickly ran to Monika's room.
"Hello, Noel. Looks like you've got a new best friend." Monika said it with a stone-cold tone while looking at her with two lifeless eyes. Just about Noel breaking into tears, Monika couldn't hold her laughter, leaving Noel completely confused. "I miss you so much, Noel! I was acting like that just to make sure that Nova will not give you a hard time!"
Both of them hug each other while jumping like children in kindergarten.
Trazyn let Monika go because she's recovered and also needed to attend to some things. Apparently, the silent king summons all available overlords and meets them all at the inevitable conqueror. When Trazyn arrived he hears a familiar voice shouting at him.
"TRAZYN! GUARD, CAPTURE HIM, I WILL MAKE HIM PAY!" The person speaking was the guy who almost snapped Nova's neck.
Before Trazyn was surrounded by the guard, he firmly bowed himself to the person on the throne;" All-mighty, Szarekh, The silent king. I am glad to see your return. Also, greeting to you too, Stormlord, maybe you are having too much stress after sleeping all these years. "
"MY KING, DO NOT LISTEN TO HIS LIES. HE WANTS NOTHING BUT COLLECT MORE HIS FOOLISH GARBAGE." Imotekh isn't trying to let Trazyn off the hook ever since Trazyn told him that he could claim the artifact without ever being spotted.
Meanwhile those two arguings, all the other necron phaerons are looking silently. Not because they don't want to take sides, it's just Trazyn is well known for cheating on his own kind for selfish reasons, what imotekh said is kind of relatable.
"Enough!' Szarekh's strong voice echoes around the hall. " I will not have thy arguments shadow out true purposes. I would not tolerate it anymore! SUBMIT OR FACE DISINTEGRATION." he didn't say it only to these two but to every single Phaeron in the hall. He didn't want to do this but seeing his subordinate quarreling in front of him like children he needs to remind all of them who it is on the throne.
"Forgive me my king." both of them bows on the ground making sure there's no direct eye contact whatsoever.
In the next few hours of conversation, the silent king got a grasp of the current situation of the galaxy then dismissed all of the phaerons when they were done. He looks outside the window and tries to seek how they have gone so far throughout the years. He was the king that caused everything, deep inside he felt guilty to his people. In desperation they chose damnation, even though they've imprisoned the responsible party, the star gods, he's still trying to find a way to take back what they've already lost.
Szarekh wants to reclaim all they've lost, that's why he came up with the strategy 60 million years ago to try to outlast their enemies and recover from the war they've fought against the gods of old. Suddenly the piece of memory from the day that changed everything came back to him while he was meditating.
When the sky darkens, an enormous dark figure appears in front of the palace of the Triarch. It has a humanoid figure but hovering in the sky in a black hood and with a scythe that reeks of the power of death and annihilation, for the Necrontyrs that worship death in their culture, they saw a god. The god that they've been praised for generations and came to them in a time of need.
It "spoke" inside their mind to tell he necrontyr that the war between them and the old ones had granted their attention. Their very own god has arrived to assist them in their war against their common enemy. It was not long before necrontyrs accepted their words of God. Both because they are indeed extremely powerful beings and the necrontyrs are also in need of powerful allies before their own annihilation. Then it's the story of damnations. The c'tan means the star god in the necrontyr language are star spawned creatures that emerged during the beginning of the universe. They are pure energy creatures that feed upon the power of the stars and the mental energy of the living creatures.
One of the C'tan named: Mephet'ran, The Deceiver. Came to Szarekh and gave him an offer what the necrontyr dreamed of: immortality. In return, they convinced the necrontyr to obey them until the total annihilation of the old ones. Szarekh accepted the offer. As the C'tan gave them the instructions to build giant furnaces called the Bio transference chamber. The necrontyr stepped into the pool of the furnace, their weak fleshed body peeled away. Instead, when it came out it's the Mechanical body, we see on the Trazyn's kind alike. The necrontyr passed from history, only the Necron remained. At first, Szarekh and his people were amazed by the new fresh feelings in the body. No more pain from the weakened flesh, they are immune to all of the unkindness that's thrown from the universe itself. Their mind is swifter than usual, and their body is full of strength, even the old weakest slave can now easily flip a boulder.
As promised, the Necrons went into war among the C'tans. In the process, countless stars shattered in the galaxy, the reality was broken due to the enormous power that the c'tan released upon the old ones. In the midst of the war, the old one's warp networks were hijacked by the Necrons and C'tan. Soon after a few centuries of the war, the old ones were gone from the galaxy.
As the Necrons won the war, they soon realized something. An indescribable empty feeling inside their chest and applies to everyone. In this very moment, it reminds them, near the bio transference chamber, there's countless c'tan feasting the essence that came out of the chamber. After the feasting, they are empowered to an unimaginable level.
The leader of the Necrons realized that they were lied to by the C'tan. Avoiding the watch of the C'tan the Necrons plot a grand plan that tries to overthrow the very gods they once served. At the end after the sacrifice of countless Necrons and long centuries, the war was finished. The Necron used the hyper cannon designed by the best Crypteks in the galaxy. The C'tans were shattered. Imprisoned into shards and forced to serve who they once ruled over.
When Szarekh looked back on their people, he felt only sorrows and regret. Yes, they won but the cost was too great. Therefore, as his last official command on his people, he ordered them to build cities under the ground and sleep for 60 million standard years. As the last city's chamber sealed off, he destroyed the command protocol that allows him to rule over his people. Then proceed to banish himself into the void of the universe.
After seeing the changes of the universe in these 60 million years Szarekh the silent king has returned. Not to rule the galaxy again but to devise a plan for the newly threatened threat he deemed during his journey: the Tyranids. A race from outside the milky way galaxy that exists to consume all the organic life in the universe. The basic principle of the Tyranids clashes with the interest of the Szarekh, which is to find a suitable organic host for the Necron mind. Thus, getting their soul back. This is why Szarekh called all the awaken and reachable Phareons to discuss the plans at the moment.
After the meeting, Trazyn heard the Stormlord seemingly rants in anger: "This man is not the same king we've known before the sleep, once I am ready, I will replace him and take over what should've been mine..."
