Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Tooth and Claw. Enjoy the 2600-word chapter. I don't own Jurassic Park, Universal and a few others do.
Owen knew the sounds of a raptor when it had been something that he often worked with daily. What he was hearing was certainly a raptor, but the pitch was off and it sounded more aggressive and feral. He knew Blue and her sisters hadn't gotten loose which meant it was something else. He slowly stalked towards the other part of the room while Blue and Charlie milled around.
There were more aggressive growls as the cage rattled before a shape appeared in front of him, growling and hissing as he seemed to get a lot more interesting for now. It had been a lot more dangerous than it seemed.
Then the shape moved and almost knocked him back as he realized what the creature was, spittle and saliva flying from its jaws. This had been something fun for now and he knew more than anything as of the second. He had been a lot more unsurprised for a second.
He turned to see a raptor… One who was certainly not a Velociraptor. The creature was taller, maybe 7-9 feet whereas Blue and them were at least 6. Small spines which didn't seem to belong to it rose as the raptor reached towards them with needle long fingers, looking around the room as it seemed to question him, beady crimson eyes as Blue rushed to his side, roaring and growling at the creature's whose pale crimson and grey hide made it look like an alien driven beast.
The creature barked a roar that sounded far deeper and more aggressive than Blue and them. He turned to see Hopkins which made Charlie growl as he tried his best to calm the Raptor.
"See you've met Crimson." He heard as Hopkins slowly walked downwards toward them. "Big guy, ain't he? Just sent him into the cage today. He's still learning pecking order and yet he's still wondering what you are." Hopkins said as he tapped the bars only for Crimson to snap at him, his teeth ingraining into the bars before the raptor growled and backed off.
Crimson roared and rushed around the pen he had been placed into existence around the Atrociraptor.
"That thing isn't a raptor…" Owen said as Hopkin rolled his eyes for a second.
"Atrociraptor…. And yeah, he is. Doc sent him here because they're going to be breeding more of them." Hopkins stated before he rolled his eyes as of now. "Crimson there is the first of those like your little bud there. I'd say he's pretty rearing to go." Hopkins added as Blue approached the bars.
Crimson sniffed the air before rushing back to the bars. Blue growled and roared through the bars. Crimson growled before he snapped on the bars before he leaned on the bars, his massive nails cutting into the bar as the larger raptor had a lot more to consider before now. He had been a lot more interested in what to do next.
Owen looked at the raptor. It was all muscle like Blue and her sisters which meant it certainly hadn't been underfed as an animal… It looked at him not with open hostility, but with interest in what the human would do… What he could do.
Then again? There was a lot more to handle when this had been said and done. The raptor was larger than Blue and it still was a vicious killing machine that didn't at all look friendly as an animal.
"Why do you have him here?" Owen asked as Crimson growled at Blue who had decided to test her luck by the cage as if amused by the other animal.
"Because that's his cage," Hopkins responded as nonchalantly as possible. "He's the first of a new group of Atrociraptor. Why? Mad he'll take your little darlings away?" Hopkins questioned with an arrogance that didn't even once faze him.
"Mad he'll get his head clawed off because you're making him mess with people who he doesn't understand," Owen responded to which Crimson backed off as if knowing that there was a moment of interest.
Own didn't blame the raptor. It was an animal. A very smart one. One which didn't deserve the heaping of stupid that Hopkins piled on it as of now. It had a lot of potential as he seemed as of now when it came.
He had a lot more of the question before now. It had a lot more to question as of now.
Still? if he was entirely interested in what to do next before this came down to it. There was a lot more to question before he happened to happen this before he seemed to happen when this was an odd little thing before now.
He seemed to handle this for now. It had been an odd little thing at the end of the rope when all was said and done. The raptor was still an animal, one which was at the mercy of all of the little bells and whistles that came with it. There was nothing he could say, do to stop this.
Oddly? He was ok with this as was anyone else. It hadn't been a hard point of the problem. No, just another one for the road.
It had been one for the road and he knew it. There was more to be said and done at the end of the road. One which could be handled when given enough time and effort for this as of now.
Hopkins didn't seem to care. Not surprising given the man didn't know a damn thing about raptors besides they were big and scary. It boggled his mind how he had gotten the job.
Crimson latched to the bars, trying to force his head through the bars. Blue growled at him as the two raptors studied one another, their fangs barred from each other with all the anger that raptors like them had.
It was almost amusing if one forgot that these creatures could easily kill someone who hadn't been prepared to handle them. Someone whom he knew could easily be the next person who stuck their hands inside the bars like an idiot.
And he knew more than anything that he was not as stupid and that Hopkins was exactly that sort of idiot who didn't know what they could do for now. It wasn't exactly as if Hopkins had been smart enough to even feed it so it didn't claw his eyes and arms off. it was probably going to eat him if it wasn't already trying to.
Still? The raptor was an animal. It had no more right to exist than everything else. It wasn't exactly like he had had any problems when it came down to it. There was a lot more to it as of now.
He hummed, curious as of now. He had been a lot more focused on how this came to be. Yet? If he didn't care? Hopkins could find some other poor sap who would get his face clawed off by the animal. It wasn't as if Hopkins was above such a ridiculous thing for now. He hadn't been one to care at all.
"What's going to be a problem for us?" Owen questioned as he started to pace back and forth. "You want me to train your buddy there to be what? A killer? I don't make monsters." Owen added to which Hopkins laughed to himself.
"I thought you said raptors aren't monsters," Hopkins said as Crimson slowly seemed to calm down and looked through the bars.
The creature was indeed something he could train before now. He looked at Crimson and saw someone who was still learning and growing. Unlike the other raptors, it was still trying to learn what had allowed and where it stood on the food chain as of now.
He was a lot more curious as to how this raptor had gotten here than how it was throwing itself off the food chain. He knew more than anyone as of now when in an attempt to throw someone off for now.
Still? Whatever had been done and dusted was in the past. It wasn't like he could go and take it back so he wouldn't. There was a raptor, he wanted to have it trained and that was what Owen was good at.
All he cared about was the animal and Hopkins knew that. it was just something he tried to manipulate what to do next. He had been prepared for now. It was something as of now. It seemed like the idea before now. This was going to be a problem for now.
Crimson roared, all too curious as to what the other raptor wanted or demanded of him. The animal didn't know what was coming, it didn't ask things in his mind that might have questioned what to do next. What he didn't know was just how off this had been how weird it was and how little he knew about it.
Then again? Animal. It wasn't as if the raptor's advanced brain let it know things only humans would know unlike it.
Still? there was more to this than the raptor knew, a lot more than what it came down to it.
Crimson tilted his head at her before backing away, it barked, curious as to her intentions. It knew the creature was like it, it knew it was strong like him and he could smell something different on her when it seemed to be a weird little problem. What it seemed to be to him was probably different from how she smelt at the moment.
Blue stared at the Atrociraptor with interest, it could smell something off about him, it just didn't sit right with her, but the fence between them told her that they were not friends, not buddies, not yet. They were nothing, two different animals who were entirely focused on different things, whatever bond they had yet to become a problem.
Hopkins snorted as he realized just how stubborn the animal would be for now. She seemed to be a weird little thing compared to him, one which had properly been explained in his mind.
Yet? He had been oh too much to question what to do as of now. What little he did was something that had been weird for now. She seemed to question what this was oddly a measure as of now.
"He's not dangerous. You keep telling me how dangerous animals don't learn, they're really smart, and yet they don't learn…" Hopkins said before he pointed at Crimson. "That raptor ain't much different from yours, Owen. He's younger, sure… But at some point? Yours was just as young and they grew up. He'll be a big fancy adult soon and we both know he's not going to know." Hopkins added before Owen rolled his eyes.
"You want him to be out and bout when he doesn't know what's going on? you want that?" Hopkins questioned to which Owen sighed.
"No, I'll help him," Owen stated before he looked at Crimson. "But I know what you're doing… And I know you're going to make more. He's just part of your little pet project, isn't he?" Owen said as Hopkins fell silent.
He knew more than Hopkins this wasn't going to be over easy. There were always more dinosaurs to Hopkins. More weapons to train, more that he wanted to train into monsters.
And he knew that Hopkins wanted Crimson to be another weapon that would all so soon be willing to kill. What Hopkins didn't know was that he wasn't going to let it go.
Hopkins wanted a weapon? He should have asked someone else.
He was unsure of what had been prepared for now and what to do next before it seemed to handle. He had been a lot more to promise. He was prepared for the worst. He prepared for the best. There was only so much he could have done to resolve this. They had a lot more to do, oh so much more on his advanced brain… He had more to see and do, a lot more that hadn't yet been resolved. If anything had been questioned, he had more to do next.
Crimson growled, preparing for the worst, prepared only for what would be coming if there next more? He was not to properly? He had a lot more on his mind if all of this was done and dusted.
He wasn't sure of what had been done, what would be coming next… Blue interested him. interested him a LOT, and he liked her, that fire within her before now.
He and she still snapped at each other, their blood demanding they settle this properly, as if not capable of understanding they were the same.
He had been unsure of the best when it came down to it. He had been a lot more focused on the best rather than the worst. If anything? He hadn't properly handled the idea and his mind still raged with the idea that had been dwelling in his mind.
He growled at her, but the venom was gone from the noise, it was more playful, playful for whatever he wanted and whatever he seemed to question of her. There was certainly something there that he hadn't properly focused on.
He tilted his head before he seemed to be all done and dusted with, he had a lot more to find excitement in. He had more to properly handle. He had more to see and do and a lot more to see and do if all was properly focused upon? He'd be able to properly focus before he sighed to himself mentally.
If the raptor could speak? He could probably tell them how odd they were, how odd this all was to question what was coming, what would be coming after this, he smelled the air and was given at least a dozen different smells in this area, unsure of what would do if his home was breached and this place became a battleground.
Then again? The raptor also wasn't smart enough to just outmatch them when it came down to it. There was a lot more to properly focus on.
He growled at her, snapping his jaws as the two raptors regarded each other more evenly now, accessing one another and their threat, their strength, their powers unsure of what to do next before.
She growled at him, her fangs popping from her food which seemed to question before all of this was over with before now. He tilted his head at her before he questioned what would be done and dusted.
"He's interested in your Beta there," Hopkins stated before he frowned. "He's pretty friendly, you know. He's all snapping teeth and fangs only if you tick him off." Hopkins stated to question what he seemed to be tired of now.
"Well, he's for damn sure not the cuddly type," Owen stated before he questioned what to do next.
If anything? All it did was make Owen more confused before he questioned what to do next. If anything? He was too unsure of what was happening.
Well, that wasn't entirely true. He knew something was going to happen sooner or later.
