Total Drama World Tour and I
Dino Dig
Chapter 15
~Last Time on Total Drama World Tour~
Spain, a country known for its unique culture, music, food, traditions, and dancing~! The teens had to learn how to master tango dancing for some romantic dancing under the moonlight. Some succeeded, others stumbled. One person in particular, a certain blonde created mischief for everyone else. Attempting to sabotage the competition, Lindsey made several attempts to knock everyone out but fell in a large dog pile with everyone else. In the end, Lindsey confessed and left the competition with her head hung low. With one less teen in the game who will win it all? Stay tune for the next exciting episode of Total. Drama. World Tour!
~And now on with our story~
~On the Plane/Normal POV~
After everything that had happened in Spain, the teens were long overdue for some R&R, rest and relaxation. Before they arrived at the next location everyone was trying to make the best of their time. Lounging around, eating some snacks, drinking juice, kicking their feet up. Yes sir, the easy life is what its all about. Keeping it real the lazy way. Everyone hoped they wouldn't arrive at their next destination too soon. The need to be lazy sloths was a priority.
Despite what happened during the tango competition Lindsey's team wasn't upset with her. She just wanted to go home to be with Tyler. There was nothing wrong about that; but it would have been better if she had talked with her teammates instead of trying to sabotage the competition. What even gave her such an idea in the first place? Who could really say what was going on through Lindsey's mind but she was gone. There was no use overthinking it. Only thing to do was move on and learn from this experience. Assuming anything had been learned. Who can really say if there's a lesson to what previously happened. There probably was but that's not important. What is important is resting up for the next challenge. Whatever it might be it couldn't be worse then back in Spain with that kraken. That had to be the most terrifying experience in the teens young lives. Hopefully they wouldn't have to quarrel with something like that again.
What's done is done. Best anyone can do is move on from that experience. It is but a clouded memory. Time to look forward to a new day and a new challenge. Who knows, perhaps things will perk up? Things can only get better after they get worse. In the meantime everyone was going to make the most of their time before the plane landed. Where was the next location going to be? What would the next challenge be like? Would they be publicly humiliated? That was a dumb question, of course they'd be humiliated. This is Chris they were talking about. They'd probably have to tightrope walk across sharks or ride a unicycle across flaming coals. Hell, maybe they'd have to dive from fifty feet off a diving board into a large banana cream pie? Whatever they were going to do they had better make the most of this relaxation time. Wouldn't be long now.
After an hour more of flying the plane was coming in for a landing. Chef yelled at everyone to exit the plane immediately. Their next challenge was going to begin immediately. Wasting no time everybody ran through and out of the plane. The large group of teens found themselves in front of a large dinosaur sculpture. Not the first thing anyone expects to see after exiting a plane.
"Whoa! Check out the large dino!" Cried Izzy. "How cool is that? I bet you I could climb up to its head."
"Uh Izzy I don't think that's a good idea." Said DJ.
"Aw but I could so get up there. Besides it would make a great selfie spot." She replied, eyes never leaving the statue. The only thing on her mind was climbing to the top.
~Izzy's Confession~
"Okay so climbing is one of the many several skills I can do. I'm like part squirrel. I can climb trees, hoard nuts, leap onto branches, and I've almost mastered the ability to glide through the air. Just need to find something that can handle wind turbulence and my weight."
~Confession Over~
Chris soon came into the picture. Wearing a pair of cowboy boots and matching hat. Again, not something one sees normally but this is Chris McClain we're talking about. He tipped his hat to everyone while speaking.
"Howdy y'all, welcome to Glen Rose, Texas." Began Chris. "This what your seeing right here is one of the many fantastic statues of what once was.: He points to the dinosaurs statues. "I'm going to give you guys a couple minutes to look around before we start today's challenge. Observe these once magnificent but dangerous creatures that once roamed the Earth nearly two billion years ago."
"Actually Chris, the dinosaurs lived sixty five years ago." Harold piped in.
"Ah well there you go. Learn something new everyday or you learn that which you forget." Said Chris. "Well go ahead and knock yourselves out. Get some ideas because you guys are going to be building your own dinosaurs!"
~Cody's Confession~
"Sweet! I use to dig up my plastic dinosaurs in the sandbox in my backyard as a kid and I use to build with Legos a lot. I'm pretty good when it comes to using my hands. *holds his hands up* I can build anything in a matter of minutes. All I need as an idea and poof, done."
~Confession Over~
The teens wandered around the area to get a good look at the statues. There were only so many to look at and so little time to do it. Each team needed to get an idea on what kind of dinosaurs to build. How they would build the dinosaurs had yet to be revealed but they'd learn soon enough. The time for observing and getting ideas was now.
Cody and Harold and Sierra were taking down notes on small notebooks they just so happened to have in their back pockets. Actually Harold had a few on him along with pencils attached. He only had two notebooks on him so Sierra and Cody shared one together. Which was more than okay with Sierra. She was sharing ideas with Cody on making the perfect dinosaur.
~Sierra's Confession~
"Sharing and swapping ideas with Cody. *soft squeal* I've only ever dreamed of getting to work with Cody and now that its happening I am trying really hard to keep myself composed. Which is harder than you think! Gah!*grips her head*"
~Confession Over~
Walking around the area gave the teens a chance to get a good feel of the area. See what Glen Rose Dinosaur Park was all about that made it exciting. According to a large billboard Glen park had more then just dinosaurs up for show. There's the Barnard's Mill and Art Museum and the Somervell County Museum. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center Cedar Loop – Great Texas Wildlife Trails: Guide to the best places to see wildlife in this area. Acton State Historic Site: Grave of Elizabeth Crockett, wife of Texas legend Davy Crockett. Those are but a few exciting activities. (For more information feel free to look up Glen Rose, Texas on Google to see what this park has to offer.)
With only minutes to go the teens were discussing with one another one ideas for their dinosaur challenge. Everyone had at least one idea to share with their group(s). Some wanted to go with a big dinosaur. Some wanted to keep it simple or somewhere in the middle. Not large but not tiny neither. There was talk on what kind of dinosaur they should go with and if they should decorate it. Got to get an idea for these things. Especially when there's minimal time for thinking.
As one group in particular was talking, one of their teammates caught sight of something. From afar some interns were digging in an area that was surrounded by small flags that stuck up in the ground. Similar to that scene from Indiana Jones in the first movie. The one where all these men were digging in the desert sand in search for the Lost Ark. Course this isn't an Indiana Jones movie so what were the interns doing? They were either digging something up or digging to bury something. Chris would probably reveal the meaning behind it during the challenge later. For now back to observing the statues. The challenge would begin soon.
And soon began in mere seconds. Chris told everyone to gather round near a statue of a T-Rex. An explination for the challenge was about to be told.
"Okay, you guys observed the dinosaurs. Now its time to create your own dinosaurs. Each team will have to work together building their very own dinosaurs based on the dinosaurs you just observed." He explained. "To makes this more exciting, two people from each team will be sent to the dig area set up specifically for this challenge." Chris points out to the flagged area Becky noticed just moments ago. "Whatever you dig up will be given to your teammates who will be building said dinosaur using arts n crafts provided at each station set up for each team." Sure enough there were three large prepping stations filled with every kind of arts n crafts one could use.
"You guys will have two hours to dig up the materials and build a dinosaur to impress me and Chef and whoever I can find to act as a third judge. Sounds simple right? Well I'll leave the guessing to you guys. Now decide which two of your teammates will be digging. You have two minutes."
The teens got in their groups to talk among themselves. Two people had to go to the digging area to excavate anything useable for building a dinosaur body. After some discussing the teams reached their decisions. Radical Sports would be sending DJ and Geoff to the digging zone. The Music Strikers were going with Izzy and Duncan out. And the Crystal Platypus' were sending Sierra and Becky to the zone. Chef handed the pairs each a shovel then directed them to the dig zone.
Wasting no time the teens spread out and began digging. Somewhere in this area laid bones and possible random objects that could be used to build a dinosaur. While the six were digging, the rest of their teammates were setting up shop and discussing what dinosaurs they would build. Each group had a variety of selections and ideas to share. Some more then others. By which I am talking about Heather. Trying to take charge as usual. She was trying to make her point by yelling aloud.
She wanted the girl's to go with her idea(s). Claiming she knew what she was doing and what kind of dinosaur would be best to present. Gwen wouldn't have it saying they should go for a more creative approach. Sierra wanted to follow Gwen's lead. She said she wanted to get more in touch with her inner artist. But Heather didn't care what the girls wanted to do. The only thing she care about was doing things her way. As tension grew between the Platypus', everyone else tried to focus on their own projects all while they ignored the yelling. Perhaps it would have been easier to ignore if music was playing through the air but alas that was not happening. Everyone within a ten mile radius of the stations could hear the loud arguing. Anyone walking by hurried away to avoid it.
Then the sound of a familiar ding sound rang through the air. It was time for everyone to sing and for once, everyone was glad to sing. If it meant getting a break from Heather's big mouth they would sing.
Cody: I think we need a break, a little time away. From listening to the yelling and all that shouting coming from our gang.
Harold: It just can't be helped. This is Heather we're talking about.
Becky: Hey now let's not forget boys. The challenge at hand here. We're digging to make dinosaurs.
Duncan: So let's get done doing this digging. While they get through with the building. So that way this challenge will be over very soon.
Everyone Digging: We're digging to make dinos! We've got to dig so they can build and we make a shape. Of some kind of dinosaur! We've got to put our backs into this and find some good junk to give. Besides the sun's a killer and we could really use some shade!
Sierra: I think there's been a mistake. Making decisions isn't easy to make.
Gwen: Would could get through this faster, if Heather wasn't a pester. What can you do but wait.
Heather: It isn't all my fault!
Everyone: Its her fault. Its her fault.
Heather: I'm trying to help us win.
Everyone: Says you, says you.
Heather: Just do what I say, and we'll get through this okay.
Becky: But she could be wrong.
Geoff: So let's work together instead of apart. We're trying to build with various parts. You know that we've got to build some wild mini dinosaurs.
Everyone Building: We're building to make dinos! We've got to build to form these dinos if we want to get anywhere. We've got to stick together. And hope and pray for the best. It won't be long before the challenge ends and we need a model out on display. Besides there's glue in our hair and glitter everywhere!
Everyone: Besides the sun's a killer and there's glitter everywhere!
Now that's a song~!
Thank you Bowling for Soup!
Nothing like a song to shut Heather up. Sadly, the silence wasn't meant to last, she started up again being bossy to Gwen and Sierra. Makes one wonder if gluing her mouth shut would be a crime. Hopefully, Cody and Becky would find something to deliver to the girl's; and then as if someone heard their thoughts, Cody struck something. With Becky's help the pair dug out...a frisbee.
Okay so it wasn't much of a fine but it could be useful. In its own way a frisbee could help with the formation built of a dinosaur. Course Heather wasn't impressed by the finding. She would have yelled at the pair had Sierra not stepped in. She covered Heather's mouth, told the pair to keep digging while they brainstormed. Slowly, each pair from a team was digging something up. There's a variety of items. Got a fork, some blocks, a bag of feathers, a wooden board, a container of slime, a small container of toothpicks, some rope, etc. Could reveal everything that was dug up from the dirt but that's just going to waste valuable time. To save some time the teens digging eventually found enough odd and useful items to pass to the teens building.
With the materials in front of them, the teams now had to start building a dinosaur. Though how they were to build a dinosaur with the items at their disposal was going to be a challenge. The best place to start was at the bottom and work your way to the top. Build the feet and see where it goes. Legos would probably have worked best for putting together a dinosaur. It would still be time consuming but it could work.
But since the teens don't have any Legos to work with they had to get creative. Much to Heather's dismay but nothing Sierra couldn't handle. She jumped right to work giving Gwen a few simple instructions to aide her. While Heather just stood around pouting.
~Heather's POV~
"If these morons don't want to listen to me fine, but it won't be my fault if we fail this challenge."
~Confession Over~
It took some time before those who were digging were allowed to stop and join their teams. Chris thought their teammates could use an extra set of hands, especially the Platypus girl's. Lord only knows they could use all the help they could get. Less they wanted to lose another challenge. Arriving at their designated stations, the teens joined their teammates in creating; building an upscale dinosaur to present to Chris and Chef. Not knowing how much time they had the teens were trying to pick up the pace.
It was only a matter of time before Chris called time. Bringing the challenge to a halt and the judging to commence. Yes sir, won't be long now. Hopefully the teams could whip some sort of dinosaur models. Despite the bickering coming from the Platypus' section they were getting work done, or at least two-to-three of them were working. What could you do about it? With Heather on the team you may as well chop your ears off, metaphorically speaking. Probably not the best point made but come on this is Heather we're talking about. Nobody can stand her. She is an epic bitch. How she made it far during the first season is anybody's guess. If her team loses this challenge its obvious who everyone will be voting off.
Wasting no more time the challenge came to a halt. Chris used a blowhorn to signal the end of the challenge. The blowhorn was so loud everyone in the area could hear it. That includes everyone in the parking lot. As loud as it was the blowhorn it made Heather shut her big fat mouth.
"Alright, I hope you guys got a dinosaur ready for us because the losing team will be sending someone home tonight." Chris told everyone. "Now as I've said earlier Chef and I will be judging your sculpture models, but we won't be alone on this. Introducing our third judge in today's challenge...Mister...uh...yeah I'm not sure how to pronounce this guys last name. Hey what's your name again mister?"
A skinny long nosed man wearing a pharmaceutical coat stepped up looking upset. Obviously not appreciating the fact Chris couldn't pronounce his last name.
"Doofenshmirt, its Doofenshmirt! Come on its not that difficult to pronounce!" The man shouted waving his arms in the air.
"Sure..." Chris rolled his eyes. "Anyway you weren't busy so your going to help us judge some dinosaur sculptures these guys made."
"Dinosaur sculptures? Ha! I could make something twice as good as a simple dinosaur sculpture." Doofenshmirt started.
"We don't care this isn't about you bud." Chris told him. "Now let's get this started! First up is Team Radical Sports!"
The three gentlemen approached the team's station to observe their dinosaur. What the teens had built was supposedly a stegosaurus. Made out of popsicle sticks, plasters, paste, paint, Pom poms, and string.
"Okay so we made a model of a stegosaurus for you dudes. Hope you like it." Said Geoff.
The three men took their time observing and examining the work of the dinosaur the teens put into. Despite its messy appearance, the dinosaur was well put together and standing in one piece. If that didn't count as something then what does? Chris, Chef, and Doof each had a comment to say about the model. They were not terrible comments, more along the lines of settled and approved. Probably didn't need the pom poms but it did add some fun colors to it since most of the paint slide off.
Next came The Music Strikers; they had built a triceratops as their model. Made out of popsicle sticks, paint, bits of chewing gum, clay, and paper maccha. A little lop-sided and droopy looking but it was keeping together. More or less it was sticking together. The men had some critic to share with the teens. Pros and cons. the man problem was how the dinosaur looked like it would collapse if touched.
"I said we should have used a stronger glue, but nobody listens to me." Said Noah rolling his eyes as he spoke to no one in particular.
Lastly, the Crystal Platypus had what appeared to be a mix up of a dinosaur and...a platypus? Upon closer inspection it was indeed a dinosaur-like platypus. How was it possible to tell you ask? The combine methods of popsicle sticks, glue and rubber bands for the tail; followed by golf balls for eyes, brown and blue feathers spread on the body, cut/ripped up popsicles for the webbed feet and for the beak...that required twisting pipe cleans around pasta noodles covered in glue and glitter. The judges took a long hard look at the creature. The three of them did not speak for what felt like an eternity. Tension was rising within the group, minus Heather.
~Heather's Confession~
"I knew this was going to happen. I knew the judges wouldn't like it. This is why people should listen to me and follow my orders. Now we're going to lose this challenge and when we do I'm voting off whoever came up with the idea for a stupid mammal-dino combo."
~Confession Over~
The silence broke once old Doofy spoke. "Okay I'm going to say it. I'm just going to say it. I'm going to say what everyone is probably thinking right now. Why would you make a platypus dinosaur?"
Too answer, Sierra stepped up. "We all had several ideas but couldn't agree on anything till Becky and I thought up the same idea to use our team's name and turn it into something unexpected and unseen before."
"So you thought of making a dinosaur that reminds me of my sworn enemy?" Doof asked.
"Excuse me?" Asked Gwen.
"Did you just say you have an arch enemy who's a platypus?" Asked Cody in disbelief.
"Yes, yes I did." Answered Doof.
The teens were silent but only momentarily before they burst into laughter. Joined by Chef and Chris breaking their silence.
"What?! What?! What?! Its the truth!" Said a defending Doof but the group continued laughing.
Then Heather shouted out to everyone what Doof said creating a wave of laughter that was spreading like the plague. People around the area who had been watching the challenge heard Heather and burst into a fit of laughter. How could anybody not laugh upon hearing that? Doof continued to defend himself. Explaining how he is in an endless battle with his nemesis who is always destroying is inventions and foiling his plots for world domination. But alas, everyone continued to laugh at the poor man. Angering him into leaving the area as everyone pointed and laughed at him till he was gone.
As soon as the laughter settled down and Chris was able to calm himself and breathe, he spoke. "Okay...(laughing) Okay...(laughing, trying to calm down. Takes a few deep breathes before talking.) Okay, I'm good now I'm good. That was hilarious! (wipes a tear from his eye) Phew man haven't laughed that good in a long time. I think its obvious that the Platypus girl's and Cody have won the challenge!"
The girl's and Cody cheered upon hearing that they have been victorious.
"As for the loosing team...due to our third judge leaving due to being a spoiled sport for not laughing at himself; and since Chef and myself might not be able to reach an agreement we'll make it easy on everyone today. Nobody's going home!"
The other two teams cheered with joy. They were safe for another day.
But how long before someone has to leave?
How long can they stay off the chopping block?
One way to find out is through the next chapter.
Stay tune, leave a comment and enjoy reading.
