"Girls, you need to finish up your breakfast. We need to get a move on. Jessica, I'll do your hair while Sof is brushing her teeth and getting ready then we will switch." Arizona ordered as she rushed around the kitchen trying to clean up and get the two sleepy girls to start moving. Both girls remained in their zombie-like state and nodded their agreement. When Jordyn called to say she was on her way to pick up Jessica last night, the girls were already washed up and in pajamas and they decided to just let them have a sleep over. At this point in time, Arizona was regretting their decision because obviously, very little sleeping had taken place. Addison strolled into the kitchen dressed to impress as always and walked in just in time to hear Arizona's third reminder. She went to the coffee pot, poured herself a cup of coffee and said to the girls, "Your ride is leaving in 20 minutes, it's your choice whether you are in it or not." That snapped both girls out of their stupor as they each took one last bite, Sofia shuffled off to her room, and Jessica dutifully went to stand in front of Arizona to get her hair brushed and thrown into a ponytail. When the little girl scooted away, Arizona looked at Addison in awe and asked, "How did you do that?" Addison smirked and answered, "They don't know me that well so they had no idea if I was serious or not." The blonde laughed and replied, "Well thank you. They were driving me nuts."

The redhead looked around the house and asked, "No Cal this morning?" Arizona replied, "No, she was called in at around 2:00 am. Apparently some teenaged boys weren't finished with the holiday festivities and decided it would be a good idea to light fireworks off from the roof. Needless to say, that was a bad idea." Addison shook her head at the stupidity and Arizona offered, "It's times like this, holidays, school breaks, and bad weather that make me happy I'm no longer a peds surgeon." Addison nodded in agreement then added, "Yeah, because you know, pregnant women only have emergencies between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm." Arizona laughed and retorted, "No, but that…working with women and babies, that's natural, that's miraculous. I will wake up at any time to deal with that. It's the kids who decide to skateboard while holding onto the back of a truck and the parents who allow it or have no idea where their kid even was that I always struggled with." Addison sipped her coffee and nodded, "Good point." Arizona looked at the clock, hollered out for Sofia then asked her friend, "Would you mind going out to grab the left-overs from the refrigerator in the pool house? There are two bags already packed up and labeled for each center. I'm sure Cal didn't think to grab them in the middle of the night." Addison agreed and walked out the patio door toward the pool house.

Sofia ran into the kitchen and declared, "I would like my hair like Jess' please." Arizona laughed and agreed, "I never thought any different. Did you find something nice for her to wear to camp?" Sofia started to nod and realized her mom had a death grip on her hair and supplied, "Yes mommy. I wore her clothes to the zoo that day, so I just gave them back to her since they were washed." Arizona smiled and cooed, "Such a smart girl. Thank you sweetheart. Go grab all your gear. We will be leaving in just a few minutes." Arizona went into her bedroom to gather everything she needed and was surprised to see Callie nearly stumbling through the door and going straight for the bed. It looked like she just threw on a bra and a pair of sweatpants with the t-shirt she had worn to sleep in and was now removing both items as she slumped on the side of the bed. Arizona walked to her sleepy girlfriend and asked, "What are you doing back?" Callie rested her head on Arizona's abdomen and replied, "I just spent the last six hours trying to put two idiot kids back together again and I am dead on my feet. I'm going to take a couple of hours to sleep, then I should be back in by noon." Arizona rubbed her head and helped her get settled into the bed making sure to tuck her in before kissing her forehead and soothing, "My poor baby. I'll set your alarm for 11:00 am." Callie nodded but Arizona was certain she was down for the count by then.

XXXX

At exactly 11 o'clock, Callie's alarm started buzzing and a tan arm shot out to hit snooze right away. Just as she felt herself falling back to sleep, she heard it ring out again and sat up to look at the clock and realized it wasn't that, but the doorbell that was ringing. Looking at the clock again, she realized she was supposed to meet her parents for lunch before their flight back to Miami. She threw on her sweatpants and rushed to the door swinging it open and profusely apologizing, "Mami, daddy, I'm so sorry. I got called in early and…wait, what are you doing here?" As her parents entered the house, her mother explained, "Arizona sent us a text to tell us about your emergency call and that you were sleeping so she wasn't sure if you would make it to lunch or not." Her father hugged his daughter and she realized for the first time he was holding a takeout bag in his hand. Walking toward the kitchen, he added, "So we decided to bring lunch to you." Callie smiled, hugged her mom as well and offered, "You didn't have to do that, but thank you. I am starving." She directed her parents to the table and went into the kitchen to get plates and three bottles of water.

Sitting down, her father cleared his throat and Callie's stomach clenched wondering what was coming next. Carlos looked to his wife then back to his daughter and declared, "I assume Arizona told you about our conversation at dinner the other evening?" Callie confirmed, "She did." She then looked to her mother and was surprised to see her smiling at her. Not her fake, I'm pretending to be happy for your bastard child smile she plastered on for the Robbins family, but her soft, real smile. Seeing he was getting no further information, he asked, "Will you tell us about it?" Callie put down her fork, took a drink of her water and explained to them her experiences and feelings to this point. She left out the part she told Arizona about her mother's expectations of her growing up to be a woman, have babies, etc. There was no need however because Lucia offered, "It didn't help that I was constantly impressing upon you that a woman does this and a woman's place is here or there did it?" Callie sighed and responded, "It didn't help in the sense that when I felt out of place or had questions about liking this person a little too much or feeling like I wanted to dress this way instead of that way, no, because I felt like you wouldn't understand." She quickly added, "But you weren't doing anything wrong exactly, you were raising your children the way you were raised and you were doing what you thought was best." Both parents studied their daughter for a moment and saw that she really harbored no angry feelings and didn't blame them.

Carlos took a deep breath and added, "It didn't help that when you did come to us, we rejected you." Callie snorted and responded, "No, that didn't help." Lucia took her daughter's hand and asked, "Will you help me understand? Do you want to be a man? Are you thinking about surgery?" Callie felt as if her head were going to explode, she had no idea who these people were. Shaking her head she responded, "I am not transgender, I have no desire to alter my body. I am non-binary which means…" She stopped for a minute and tried to think about how Dr. G helped her understand it but wasn't sure going the bisexual route would help her case. She then took the salt and pepper shakers and placed them about a foot apart and pointed to the salt and said, "This is a female…she/her. I was born this way and people will see me this way if I choose to always show up looking like this. People will always see a white substance as salt as long as it is in a clear container with the S on it." She then pointed to the pepper and said, "This is a male…he/him. The same rules apply. But there's all this space in between and right now, I don't just feel like salt, I feel like a mix of salt and pepper. I choose to present myself in this way because I don't want people to just see me as salt and think that is all there is to me, that's all I am." Lucia looked at the two containers and tried to process what her daughter was saying. Finally, Carlos took both shakers, put a little of both into the same pile in the middle and asked, "So you feel like this, uh…they/them? This is how you want the world to see you?" Callie smiled and nodded, "Put simply, yes. But it's because that's how I feel inside. When I looked in the mirror, I would see just salt, but I didn't feel like just salt inside. I needed what I looked like to match how I felt."

Callie sat nervously and watched her parents as they thought through everything she just said, she also noticed how they carried on a conversation without saying anything and wondered if this was how Sofia felt. She was waiting for them to get up and leave. Deciding no matter what happened, she still needed to get back to work so she started eating again. As soon as she started to swallow her mother asked, "So what do we call you?" Callie started choking and grabbed her napkin, took a long drink of water, nervously laughed, and asked, "What?" Her mother explained, "I noticed at the party most people called you Cal, Torres, or Dr. Torres, but Arizona calls you Callie or Calliope and Sofia calls you mama. Do we refer to you as our child or they/them instead of daughter? Or…" Callie smiled and answered, "I am your daughter, just like I am Sofia's mama, Arizona's girlfriend. They are my family so they call me what I am to them, you are my family, so the same goes for you." Both parents seemed to relax and sat back to enjoy their meal.

After a few minutes, Lucia cleared her throat and asked, "About this girlfriend nonsense." Callie slammed her fork down but before she could say anything, Lucia added, "You're nearly 40 Calliope, it just sounds ridiculous." Callie just broke into a fit of laughter, she could not believe her life right now. While they continued to eat their lunch, Callie spoke to both parents about the conversation she had with her friends and colleagues and her parents added their two cents as well. By the time they left, she had a completely different plan formed in her head and started making calls while getting ready to return to work.

Addison and Arizona were sitting in the conference room discussing the resumés both women had collected prior to their interviews this afternoon when Nicole entered with Shep. She stood in the doorway and asked, "Did he bring me to the conference room?" Both women laughed and Arizona answered, "Yes Nicole, you are in the conference room." Nicole looked in the direction of the dog then muttered, "He's already smarter than Jeremy." The other two fetal surgeons shook their heads and Nicole asked, "Did you get the kid set up with the computer yet? There are some things I need her to take care of." Arizona sighed, "The 'kid's' name is Julie and the IT techs we hired are working on imaging her laptop as we speak. I asked them to make it a priority even though they are drowning right now since all the technology arrived yesterday."

Nicole prompted the dog to take her to a seat and she dutifully followed the dog's lead, reached out for a chair and sat down, then asked, "So where are we with these interviews?" Arizona explained, "Addison and I had the Charge Nurse, Kendra, and the three other head nurses we hired, Tom, Chandra, and Lynn interview us today and we feel they can take care of interviewing nurses and suggesting candidates, so that takes some of that off our plate. Dee has been an administrator for who knows how many years, so she is taking care of interviewing and suggesting candidates for receptionists, information desk, and getting bids for maintenance and custodial crews." Addison added, "Robbins and I have made piles of the candidates we are interested in just based on their credentials, those who have promise, and those who we wondered why the hell they got interviews in the first place, but maybe they will surprise us." Nicole retorted, "Well haven't you been busy little bees today?" Both women just rolled their eyes at the older fetal surgeon then laughed at each other.

Nicole asked, "So if all goes well, we should be right on target for our Grand Opening on August 1st correct?" Arizona smiled brightly and answered, "It seems that way." The older woman nodded then asked, "How did it go with Bailey and the bid we submitted?" Arizona huffed, "As soon as I sent the email, she called me and asked me if I was out of my mind. I explained to her that not only did I offer a reasonable bid, but those were specialty items and since there were only a handful of fetal surgeons in the country at this time, she would be hard-pressed to find a better offer. When she kept grousing, I put Addie on the phone and she finally agreed, but we have to pay shipping, which we would have to do anyway. She is having it all packed up and we should receive it by early next week." Nicole smiled, which she rarely did and commended, "That was a great idea, good thing you were on the board, that little nugget saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars." Arizona opened her mouth to comment but was cut off by a man at the door announcing, "Dr. Robbins, here is the laptop you requested. We only have a few more to image then we will be working on getting your patient information program loaded onto all of the tablets." Arizona took the device and offered her thanks then asked, "Do you have a timeframe for when you might be finished Ben?" Ben nodded and offered, "If there aren't any snags, we should have everything up and running by the end of the day. We have someone training Dee and Kim on all the programs and how to assign log-ins for new employees as we speak." Arizona thanked the man again and he was out the door.

Addison looked at her watch and suggested, "It looks like we have just enough time to go get Julie all set up and have a quick lunch before our first candidate arrives." On their way out of the center, Arizona stopped by the main desk and collected the box of other supplies Julie might need as well and informed Dee and Kim where they would be. Kim looked at her and offered, "Dr. Robbins, I know this was Dr. Herman's idea, but thank you for giving Julie this chance. I was getting really worried about her. I know she was trying to be happy for me, but…I also know it was hard for her and I was afraid she would start getting depressed." Arizona smiled softly at the young girl and replied, "Well, this should keep her more than busy and she is able to get up out of bed a little bit each day, so that should help. But you keep an eye on her moods and let me or Callie know if she seems to be falling into a depression okay?" Kim nodded, thanked her boss and went back to her task just as Nicole called out, "Come on Robbins, we haven't got all day."

Feeling much better after a couple hours of sleep and the conversation with her parents, Callie walked into Fresh START on a mission, two actually, but they both involved the same people. Spotting who she was looking for at the front desk, she turned to a nurse who was standing nearby and asked, "Jim, would you mind covering the desk for a few minutes please?" She then looked at her two friends and sternly ordered, "You two in my office now." Maria and Lorraine looked at one another and wondered what put their friend in such a foul mood and quietly followed her to her office, both unaware that the ortho surgeon was smiling the entire time. Straightening her face, she opened the door, motioned for them to sit on the sofa, took the chair across from them, rested her elbows on the armrests and tented her fingers in front of her. Looking at their concerned faces, she started, "So Arizona and I had an interesting talk yesterday." After everything settled down last night, Callie pestered Arizona until she told her about the conversation she had with Maria and Lorraine and she just wanted to thank them, but this was a little fun. Both women instantly became worried that something had happened between the couple and their faces dropped. Seeing the worried expressions, she immediately added, "It was about a certain elevator ride and a private conversation amongst the three of you." Knowing exactly what she was talking about, Lorraine simply nodded and Maria crossed her arms and muttered, "Snitch." Callie tried to hold back her laughter but couldn't keep a straight face in front of these two, let alone pretend to be mad at them. Smiling brightly she offered, "Thank you for doing that, for looking out for me, but also for treating Arizona with such respect and accepting her so easily."

Both women relaxed and Maria inferred, "So you aren't mad?" Callie replied, "That you were looking out for me? No. That you spilled some of my secrets? Mildly irritated, but you can make it up to me by keeping a different secret." The nurse arched her eyebrow in question. Callie went to her desk, opened her laptop, printed out a document and explained, "It appears an anonymous donor is holding a Black and White Gala event for people in the medical community on July 31st at The Aria." Maria asked, "What does that have to do with us?" Callie handed them both a sheet of paper with their names on the top and a detailed list underneath. Reading it over, Lorraine looked up and asked, "You are the 'anonymous donor?'" Callie confirmed, "I am. So are you in?" Maria looked through the list and asked, "We are supposed to do all of this by then?" Callie explained, "There is actually an event coordinator working on it. Your roles will just be to follow up, be the go between for me and take care of those other things." The two women looked at one another, smiled and Maria declared, "Hell yeah we're in!" Callie breathed out a sigh of relief and Lorraine asked, "Was there any doubt?" Callie looked at the two women in front of her, the people who have been her saving grace and responded, "No, but I need one more favor." Callie explained what she needed and both of them quickly agreed. Folding up their assignments, they stuck them in their pockets just as there was a knock on the door.

Callie called out, "Come in," and was slightly surprised to see Arizona, Nicole, and Addison walk through her door. Maria and Lorraine both stood up, said their hellos, Lorraine reminded Callie of her appointments for the day, then the two left. Callie greeted her new guests, offered them a seat and asked, "Is this a social visit or is there something I can do for you?" Arizona shrugged and answered, "Nicole said she needed to talk to you about something." Nicole looked in the direction she last heard Torres' voice and started, "We were just visiting Julie and filling her in on her responsibilities. Since I have no way of judging for myself, I was wondering the extent of her injuries and the possibility of her being sprung for a couple of hours a day. I don't mind coming to her, but maybe just a couple days a week to start with so she can come work in our office, get a change of scenery, feel like a real person doing a real job." The ortho surgeon was taken aback a little by the request. It wasn't out of the question for sure, it was just…humane and almost sympathetic, two things she didn't really think of when she thought of Nicole Herman.

She smiled at the other two fetal surgeons who were almost just as shocked and responded, "She will be strictly wheelchair bound for a few more weeks yet, but I don't see why that couldn't be arranged. She seemed to do pretty well on Tuesday. The nurse reported she was a little fatigued Wednesday, but I think the more she is up and about, the better it will be for her healing and for her spirit." Nicole nodded curtly then declared, "I assume you will have to work out the details with her physical therapist. I'll have her put together a schedule and clear it with the two of you. Oh and Robbins, she will need some clothes, maybe scrubs would be most comfortable for now." Arizona agreed to take care of that and Nicole stood up and ordered, "Come on Montgomery, I'm sure these two will need to make out or something, we can go order lunch." Addison laughed, waved and winked at her friends, then followed the cantankerous woman out the door closing it behind her.

Arizona walked over to Callie, caressed her cheeks and studied her eyes for a moment and asked, "Were you able to sleep?" Callie replied, "Not long enough, but I slept until the alarm went off. Thank you for setting it for me." Arizona leaned in and brushed their lips together and answered, "Anytime. I missed my heater last night and waking up to that gorgeous smile." Callie bent her head down for a longer, deeper kiss, pulling Arizona closer to her. When the kiss ended she responded, "I would have much rather been in bed with you. There were 16 broken bones between them, 5 of which needed pins or plates." Arizona shook her head and asked, "Promise me our kids won't be that stupid." Callie laughed and answered, "I sure as hell hope they aren't. The parents were fast asleep and didn't even realize what happened until a neighbor woke them up." Arizona corrected, "Promise me we will always know what our kids are up to." Callie just smiled brightly and proclaimed, "I like the sound of that…our kids." Arizona tilted her head and said, "I didn't even realize I said it." Callie replied, "I know, it just makes me hopeful for the future. I realize it might take a while, but I get so excited when I think this time next year we might already have a baby or at least have one on the way." Arizona brushed their lips together and asked, "You know what excites me about that?" Callie shook her head and the blonde responded, "That there will be a 'we' at this time next year." Callie smiled and declared, "As long as there is breath in my lungs, there will be a 'we' or an 'us'." Arizona captured her lips in a long sweet kiss and stated, "On that happy note, I should get back. I love you." Callie hugged her tightly and declared, "I love you too. Good luck with your interviews."

Arizona rolled her eyes at just the thought and started to leave the room when Callie exclaimed, "Oh my God, I almost forgot, my parents came by and we had a rather interesting conversation." Arizona looked into Callie's eyes, she knew she could tell whether it was good or bad from those beautiful expressive eyes. Callie could tell what she was doing and supplied, "It was good. It was about the question they asked you the other night. I'll explain it all when I get home. But there's nothing to worry about, I promise." Arizona relaxed, crossed the room for another kiss, patted Callie on the ass then ordered, "Get to work Dr. Torres." Callie laughed and followed her girlfriend out the door just in time to greet her first patient as she walked into the lobby.

When the conference room door shut, Addison rubbed her hands down her face, dropped her head to the table and complained, "When did they start giving medical degrees in Cracker Jack Boxes?" Arizona laughed and answered, "If I had to guess just based on the last group of interns I worked with, I'd say two years ago." Addison snorted and asked, "That bad?" Arizona chuckled and answered, "One of them was called blood bank, both because he got sick at the sight of blood and Grey literally had him donating blood to a patient in the middle of an operation." Nicole snorted and responded, "This gives me no hope at all. Thank you." Addison sat up and asked, "What did you think of the others?" Arizona immediately offered, "I really like this Maxwell March, the OB. He seemed knowledgeable, has great references and just seemed to really care about his patients. He's had experience in a teaching hospital and I feel like he would fit in well." Nicole commented, "I agree with you, he has a very affable tone of voice and I think he would put patients at ease." Addison moved his file to the definite pile.

The redhead picked up another folder and asked, "What about this Jennifer Baron?" Arizona bit her lip and waited for the others to respond before she gave her input because she knew it was based on personal bias. Nicole was the first to speak, "That one is a definite no." Addison agreed, but asked, "Why?" The older woman leaned forward and responded, "She was too misogynistic, too old fashioned in my opinion. All of her answers talked about the parents or the mother and father. It concerns me that she wouldn't treat our single mothers or same sex couples in the same fashion or with the same respect as she would heterosexual couples." Arizona sat up straight, pursed her lips and shook her head a little in shock. That was exactly what she was thinking and she was concerned she wouldn't get along with the other surgeon.

Hearing nothing from the blonde, Nicole commented, "This is a center for women's health, but we need to recognize that women come in all forms now. Julie is barely 18 and is expecting and from what I gathered at the party, you have some non-binary friends, one of whom is married and they are expecting. Also, people hear things and I understand Torres is currently exploring her own gender identity. I want everyone to feel comfortable coming to us, single parents, same sex couples, and non-binary or transgender individuals with their own gynecological needs. I know there aren't many OB's who treat those patients with the dignity they deserve, even if they claim to be LGBTQ friendly." Addison and Arizona both stared at one another a little surprised by their friend's words.

The silence in the room was nearly deafening and Nicole asked, "Why aren't you saying anything Robbins?" Arizona opened her mouth, closed it again, then blinked a few times and answered, "That's uh, that's exactly what I was thinking and hoping for. I mean, I'm coming at this from a different place than both of you and took some of her responses very personally, so I was waiting to say anything." Nicole shook her head and snapped, "Robbins, your name is on the door! You say what you're thinking. I said it because I knew you wouldn't. But you can bet your ass if one of these people made a comment about blind or disabled people not being good parents, I'd show them to the door myself." Arizona responded, "I will speak up. I just…sometimes I have to temper myself and make sure I am not just taking things personally because I am a lesbian. I've passed judgement too soon in the past and it came back to bite me." Nicole nodded and answered, "I get that, but in this case, it's not just you. You are the advocate for our employees and our patients, so if you feel a certain way, say it and if you're wrong, you know damn well I'll tell you." Arizona chuckled and mumbled, "Don't I know it."

Addison suggested, "You know, you may want to talk to the PR person about getting information into teen centers, LGBTQ centers, and make sure it is added to all of your advertising. It will expand your clientele for sure, but people need to know they have real options." Nicole nodded, picked up her phone, called Julie and asked her to call the PR person and include that information. Arizona leaned back in her chair and realized her friend was right, she needed to be a stronger voice. Getting back to the task at hand, she picked up the next file and they all weighed in on that candidate and decided to add that to the definite pile as well. After interviewing three more candidates, they had decided to hire five of the seven they saw that day. Nicole sat back in her chair and commended, "Nice work today ladies. Tomorrow is the tour of all the visiting surgeons, then Monday the Maternal-Fetal candidates from the surrounding colleges come to tour the facilities. After that, it's just a matter of everything being delivered and set up." Arizona rubbed her temples and asked, "Does this feel fast to you? It all feels so fast." Addison chuckled and reminded her friend, "You did most of the planning before you both even got here and were able to hit the ground running as soon as you found the building." Arizona nodded and agreed, "I know you're right its just so…exciting to see it. You know you dream about something for so long and it's finally coming together and now I just want to get back to what I do best." Addison nodded in understanding.

Once they finished for the day, Addison, Callie, and Arizona were sitting on the patio drinking a glass of wine while Sofia played in the pool after dinner. Callie was filling them in on her conversation with her parents and went into a little further detail about her journey for Addison. Addison eyed her friends and asked, "Can I ask you something personal?" Arizona responded, "Cal just took you on her gender identity journey and you're going to spend the next several months looking in my vagina, so why not?" Addison laughed and asked, "Did this cause any problems between you?" Callie answered first, "Arizona's actually the one who helped me realize what was going on. She noticed I was struggling with some things and sensed it had more to do with just my clothes or how I felt about myself." Addison nodded in understanding and Arizona continued, "I would watch her struggle with outfits and catch her staring in the mirror and well, I recognized it. It's not the same, but I did the same thing when I was trying to figure out how the person I was fit into my new body." She looked at Callie, took her hand and added, "Needless to say, I made some really bad choices in the process of figuring that out. But I recognized for Cal, that it wasn't just a change in style, it was more and we talked about it and she told me how she was feeling about how she presented. It didn't cause any problems at all, I actually encouraged her to explore her identity and I would support her and love her no matter what." Addison nodded, took another drink and prepared herself for her next question.

Arizona studied her friend and stated, "That wasn't the question you wanted to ask." Addison shook her head and prefaced her question with, "I just…this may even be a stupid question, I don't know but I was wondering, I mean, you're a gold star lesbian right? Um does Cal's change still make you a lesbian?" Callie furrowed her brow and asked, "As opposed to?" Addison shrugged and supplied, "I don't know." Arizona thought about all the different forms of sexual preference and narrowed them down in her own mind and responded truthfully, "In the biological sense of the word, Callie is still a woman, so in that sense, yes it still makes me a lesbian. In presentation, she is more masculine and identifies as non-binary, which could get confusing if you actually need a label. The definition of bi-sexual is someone who is attracted to both men and women. While I find Callie's presentation extremely sexy, I am not attracted to men. Another option would be pan-sexual meaning someone who is attracted to biological men and women as well as other presenting individuals. In the general sense, Callie would be in the latter category, meaning that could apply to me, but it also doesn't, because it's not just anybody, it's only Callie." Addison and Callie both nodded in understanding, then Callie asked, "You've actually thought about this?" Callie wasn't sure how she felt about this, like did she think about it in a good way or a bad way?

Arizona shrugged and responded, "Not really, I mean it crossed my mind only because, no offense Addison, I assumed I would be asked that question at some point and I wanted to have an answer. Addison held up her hands and responded, "None taken. I appreciate your candor." Callie smiled and realized Arizona's type-A personality and brain was just wired that way and that's really all there was to it. Arizona snapped to attention and said, "While we're on the topic, we had an extremely interesting conversation with Nicole today." Callie arched her brow and asked, "When are conversations with her not interesting?" Both fetal surgeons laughed, then they proceeded to fill her in on everything Nicole said and about adding that they were LGBTQ friendly to the advertisements and information. Callie was extremely excited to hear that and responded, "It's interesting that she thought of that. It also reminds me that I was supposed to ask you a question. When I first met Jo, they asked me for a recommendation for an OB/GYN for themself. They told me it was really hard to find someone they and others felt comfortable with." Arizona smiled and explained, "Well, we just hired two today. I'm assuming they would want a female and I think this Dr. Yaegar we hired would be perfect. She had a large clientele of non-binary and trans patients. But maybe I should call Jo and make sure there isn't something pressing. We won't be seeing patients for another month."

Callie furrowed her brow and asked, "Can you do that? You're a fetal surgeon." Both Addison and Arizona laughed and Addie explained, "We had to certify as OB's with a specialty in Maternal-Fetal medicine until it became its own classification just recently. We were grandfathered in, but now you can study strictly to be a Maternal-Fetal Surgeon." Arizona laughed, "God that was a hell of a fight." Addison held out her fist and exclaimed, "But we did it!" Arizona bumped her fist and Callie just looked at the two and supplied, "Okay, I'm lost." Addison explained, "Previously, you could become certified as an OB or a Neo-Natal surgeon and specialize in maternal-fetal medicine, there was no stand alone certification and the waters got pretty muddy about who should be performing which procedures. I was certified in both with that specialty. When Arizona took her boards, she had to certify as an OB with that specialty. What was it, two years ago?" Arizona nodded. "Two years ago the few of us who were actual Maternal-Fetal surgeons petitioned for it to become its own certification. It took nearly a year, but we finally did it. That's why the Robbins-Herman center is such a big deal. It's the first facility that will actually train Maternal-Fetal surgeons."

Callie leaned back and said, "Wait, you have three certifications?" Arizona nodded proudly and answered, "Yup!" Callie asked, "Why haven't you corrected me?" Arizona shrugged and chirped, "Seemed pompous to do so." Addison laughed and stated, "Oh, I have no problem talking about how many certifications I have." Callie laughed and responded, "No because you're pompous." Addison chugged her wine and answered, "Damn straight!" All three laughed then Arizona redirected, "Back to Jo, do you think I should give them a call?" Callie shrugged and answered, "It wouldn't hurt." Arizona nodded and made a note in her phone to call Jo tomorrow. Once that was finished, she looked to her daughter and called out, "Ok little miss, time to wash up and get ready for bed." She then turned to Callie and Addie and said, "I'm going to take care of this one then get some work done in the office. Stay out and chat for a while, I know you two haven't had much time to catch up." Callie lifted her face for a kiss which she quickly received and Addison extended her cheek and laughed when Callie repeated Arizona's words, "Watch it Red."

Once Arizona wrangled Sofia into the house, Callie poured them both more wine and pouted, "Are you sure you have to leave tomorrow afternoon?" Addison nodded, "I miss my boys and I need to be home to make sure they don't dump camping gear and dirt all over the house." Callie laughed and double-checked, "You'll be back for the opening right?" Addie nodded and responded, "I will and fingers crossed we will have a baby to celebrate by then too." Callie tensed up and proclaimed, "That soon?" Addison smiled softly and answered, "That soon my friend." Callie let out a whoop and stomped her feet on the deck in excitement making her friend laugh. Once she settled down, she stated, "So this week has been all about us. Tell me what's going on with you." For the next couple of hours and another bottle of wine, the two women caught up on each other's lives then started reminiscing about their time together at Seattle Grace.

At about this time, Arizona could hear the peals of laughter from the office and went outside to quiet them down so they didn't wake Sofia. They were in a fit of giggles and didn't notice when she stepped out and she heard Addison say, "Wait, wait, remember that time I asked you to show me how to pray?" Callie started cracking up and nodded her head. Addison got down on her knees and mimicked Callie, "Dear God, I need your guidance…I kissed a peds surgeon." Arizona had to contain her laughter, she stood in the shadows and listened as their friend slurred out, "I never thought I'd end up with a woman God, I mean not until lately, that's not the problem. The problem is the peds thing, and she's perky, and she has butterflies on her scrub cap. But she's also hot. REALLY hot…so help me get over the butterflies." Callie dragged Addison up making them both almost fall over and said, "I did not sound like that!" Arizona stepped out of the shadows laughing and declared, "First of all…" Callie and Addison both jumped back and screamed. Callie held her chest and proclaimed, "Jesus you scared me!" Arizona smirked and continued, "First of all, the peds surgeon kissed you, and secondly, I thought you made that up!" Callie shook her head, got a serious look on her face, and declared, "No…un huh…you don't lie about prayers they won't come true." She then crooked her finger toward Arizona who stepped closer and Callie tried to whisper, "I'm glad that one came true." She then planted a sloppy kiss on Arizona's cheek.

Arizona laughed and tried to hold all of Callie's weight as she guided her back to the sofa and responded, "Me too honey. I'm glad you got over the butterflies." Callie pulled her on her lap and said, "Only the ones on the scrub cap. The ones in my belly never go away when I see you." Addison tried to pretend to gag then felt like she was really going to throw up and declared, "That's not a good idea. But you two make me sick." Callie pointed at Addison and yelled, "It's all your fault!" Arizona shushed them and Callie said in a whisper, "It's all her fault. Addison made me gay." Arizona lifted her brow and looked at Addison and asked, "She did, did she?" Callie looked at her girlfriend's face and said, "Ew, not that way. She's the one who told me it was okay to speak the bag..vaginal…Vagina! Vagina Monologues. Did you know me and Mer made up a song about Vagina's?" Addison's eyes went wide and she asked, "You and Grey?" Arizona looked at Callie in question and Callie explained, "No, me and Arizona were on a break and I got drunk with Grey and she asked if I thought she and Christina were gay and I asked her if she liked her vagina and told her I missed Arizona's vagina and we made up a song. But Arizona thought I was cheating. Do you remember that honey?" Arizona nodded, she remembered how freaked out she was when Callie didn't come home and she had no idea why it made her feel good that her then-wife was singing about her vagina. But she couldn't help but laugh.

Arizona tried to stand but Callie tightened her grip then looked to her friend and said, "You've seen it. It's pretty right? Song-worthy." Arizona popped off Callie's lap and declared, "Okay, time for you two to get to bed. Addison stood up and whispered, "Thank you, cuz honestly, I've seen a lot of vaginas and I can't tell them apart anymore." Arizona rolled her eyes, pulled Callie up off the sofa and tried to get them both into the house. She propped Callie up against the wall, walked Addie into her room, took Callie to their room and went back out into the house to turn off the lights and check all the doors. When she got back into her room, Callie was sitting on the bed with her shirt off fumbling with her shorts singing, "Vagina…va-va-vagina…I think it's pretty."

A/N: I'm so happy you really liked the background story of Lorraine and Maria. Reading through past reviews made me realize that I never really described them physically and for some reason, that's just what they look like in my brain. Also, part of me was thinking Callie moved on to New York and none of what happened ever crossed her mind. Then I started thinking about what if it did and well, that's how most of this story came together.

I realize a great deal happened in this chapter, but a lot of it was necessary for the future of the story. Yes, I made up the part about OB/Neo-Natal/Maternal-Fetal to fit into this AU, although it does make sense in the GA world as well.

Finally, I LOVED the scene with Meredith and Callie singing that song and thought it would be funny if she slipped and let Arizona know about it.
