Chapter 15
***Kelly's***
(While getting supper for her and her kids, Sam runs into her parole officer. Delores asks how Sam is. Sam faces the woman with narrowed eyes)
Sam: "You should know how I am. Jason and I are over, so you should be happy."
(Delores readjusts her coat before sighing deeply)
Delores: (shakes her head) "I don't want you miserable, Sam. However, you know the rules. You can't be around a felon or an accused felon and that's what Jason is."
(Delores raises her hands to her sides)
Delores: "Besides, you get to be with your kids. I thought you'd be happy."
Sam: (rolls her eyes & mumbles) "If only I had a different parole officer."
(The waitress brings Sam her food in a to-go bag. Sam pays for it and then walks away without uttering a word to Delores. Delores shakes her head in disappointment)
***Sonny's Office***
(While Sonny is taking care of a few things at home, Jason decided to take care of some paperwork. He was surprised to see Alexis there)
Jason: "If you're looking for Sonny, he's at home."
Alexis: "Actually, I'm here for you."
Jason: "Oh? What's up?"
(Jason puts down his paperwork and walks around the desk to face the lawyer)
Alexis: "I wanted to let you know that Sam's not taking the breakup well."
Jason: (sighs deeply) "I'm aware of that."
Alexis: "Are you also aware that Sam blames Elizabeth and vows revenge against the nurse?"
Jason: "I really hope that Sam won't stoop that low. However, it wouldn't surprise me." (nods) "I'll always care for Sam, but I've moved on."
Alexis: "With Elizabeth Baldwin?"
Jason: (confused) "What? No. Why would you ask me something like that?"
Alexis: "Jason, Sam has it in her head that you want Elizabeth."
Jason: "Does Sam also know that Elizabeth is married and loves Franco?"
(Alexis can't help but make her next comment)
Alexis: "I can't help but wonder for how long because Elizabeth has cheated in the past on her past loves/husbands."
(Jason's eyes widen at Alexis' comment! What the hell?! Jason angrily points at Alexis and speaks)
Jason: "Make sure you listen because I'm only going to say this once. You leave Elizabeth the hell alone…or else. Sam and I are over and she needs to deal with it. Who the fuck do you and Sam think you are anyway? Sam isn't perfect, either. Sam needs to move on and not worry about Elizabeth. We had our own issues in our relationship that had absolutely nothing to do with Elizabeth."
(Jason raises his eyebrows and turns his head slightly as he continues)
Jason: "What about the time that Sam slept with Ric years ago? Don't tell me that you forgot about that already."
(Alexis sighs deeply and briefly closes her eyes as she thinks about what she just said)
Alexis: "I'm so sorry, Jason. I didn't mean that. I'm just so damn frustrated about this whole situation!"
(Alexis shakes her head and is immediately ashamed)
Alexis: "I do like Elizabeth and I don't know what came over me."
Jason: (sighs softly) "My only advice is to think about things before you speak because words do hurt someone. I've got to cut this short. I have to finish this paperwork for Sonny."
(Alexis nods before leaving. Jason sits back down and gets back to work)
***GH***
(Elizabeth is pleasantly surprised to see Cameron walking towards her at the Nurse's Station)
Liz: "Hey, you. I wasn't expecting to see you until later tonight. What's up?"
Cameron: (a bit nervously) "Is this a bad time?"
Liz: "For my oldest son? Never."
(She gives him a hug before facing him again)
Liz: "Let's go sit in the waiting area over here so we'll have a little more privacy."
(Once they're seated, Cameron talks)
Cameron: "I have a confession to make."
Liz: (nods) "Go on."
Cameron: "Last night, I was on my way downstairs to get a drink of water. I stopped when I got to the stairs because I heard you and Franco arguing about money." (sighs sadly) "Mom, I had no idea that things had gotten that bad." (offers) "Would it help if I got a job?"
(Elizabeth sighs deeply as she places a few strands of hair behind her ear. She had no idea Cameron overheard and it broke her heart. She takes her sons hands into hers and smiles)
Liz: "I love you, honey, for wanting to help out. It shows what a kind and remarkable young man I raised. But, I want to make something clear, okay? It is NOT up to you to provide for the family. I also don't want you helping out. You have enough to deal with as you have school and sports. Your senior year is here. This should be a happy time for you. I appreciate you worrying, but we'll be okay. Now, before I forget, do you need money for homecoming?"
Cameron: (shakes his head & smiles) "No, I'm good. Thanks, though."
(Cameron hated lying to his mother. He didn't have the heart to say he didn't have any money for the special occasion. Elizabeth and Cameron share a hug before she goes back to work. Cameron knew where he needs to go next)
(There was a knock at the front door of Sonny's office. Jason was hoping it wasn't Alexis again or Sam. After saying 'come in', the door opens, revealing Cameron)
Jason: (surprised) "Cameron, hey."
Cameron: "If this is a bad time, I can come back later."
Jason: (shakes his head) "No, there's never a bad time. Shut the door and have a seat."
(Jason sits in the chair next to Cameron after he closes the door)
Jason: "Talk to me."
Cameron: "First off, mom doesn't know that I'm here."
Jason: (concerned) "Is everything okay?"
Cameron: "I told mom most of this earlier, but I need to vent."
Jason: (nods) "Go ahead. I'm right here."
Cameron: "I don't know how much mom has told you, but her and Franco are hurting for money. How do I know this? When I was on my way downstairs to get something to drink last night, I stopped in the hallway because I heard them fighting."
Jason: (tilts his head) "What were they saying?"
Cameron: "Mom says there's nothing wrong with asking you for help as you've offered many times. Franco insists it should be up to him to provide. Mom finally lost her cool and asked how the hell is he supposed to provide for the family if he said so himself that the money's not coming in. Franco offered to do another painting of Ava being the other one was sabotaged. But, Franco sarcastically said that mom can't stand her. Mom said for good reason." (puzzled) "If mom is willing to accept help from you, why isn't Franco?"
Jason: (sighs) "Without getting into specifics, Franco and I don't get along. We never have and never will. He hurt some people I cared about. He had a tumor that was removed years ago, but I don't think that made a difference. Your mom forgave him. I didn't. Nor do I have any intentions to."
(Jason takes out his wallet and faces Cameron)
Jason: "Judging from the way you're talking, you didn't take any money from your mother for homecoming."
Cameron: (curiously) "How did you find out about homecoming being I didn't say anything?"
Jason: "Between Carly and Josslyn discussing it at Sonny's place the other day and then your mom bringing it up, that's how I know I about it. How much do you need, son?"
Cameron: (guiltily) "I feel bad about taking money from you, Jason."
Jason: "Let me make something clear, Cameron. You are like a son to me. I don't care about the money. However, I DO strongly encourage you to tell your mom that you came to me. In my opinion, there shouldn't be any secrets between a mother and a son. Besides, I truly believe that she will understand. I'm going to give you $300. If your mom feels you should pay me back, we'll work something out. I have absolutely no problem helping you out, though. I've always considered you my son and fathers always help out their kids."
(Cameron smiles at Jason's sincere words and they share a hug before Cameron thanks him and leaves)
