Peter had a great start to his day. He had a nice breakfast with Susan and the kids, the kids were well-behaved when they were dropped off at school, and Susan and Peter were ready for their first official date. Peter managed to get them a table at the best restaurant that he could get at the last second. He wants this night to be unique, especially after everything they've gone through.
And then...a new metahuman showed up.
Peter was left fighting an enemy with the help of the guys since Susan was helping out with some meetings for the company.
But this villain went by the name of Dr. Light. She could send out blinding lights and almost got away with blinding the entire bank if it weren't for Johnny taking her out.
Except the only one to get blinded by the light was their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Right now, Caitlin was shining a red light in his eyes. "Anything?"
"I still can't see." Peter groaned, reaching up to rub his eyes as she turned the light away, starting to get a blurry version of sight back. "How long is this gonna last?"
"You're suffering from solar retinopathy, meaning your retinas are severely damaged," Caitlin told him, turning to put her tool away and sighing at her test results. "You're lucky you're not permanently blind."
"But with your rapid regeneration abilities, your sight should come back soon," Bette assured him with a shrug.
Then they heard a phone buzz and they wondered what it was. Johnny walked over to the phone and picked it up for him.
"You've got a message," Johnny tells his friend.
"What's it say?" Peter wonders.
"Running a little late." Johnny shrugged and noticed who it was from. "Susan?"
"On, Sue!" Peter groaned and smacked himself in the face. "Our date."
"You guys finally going out on a date?" Ben asked with a laugh. "Took you long enough."
"Yeah, I know...but now I'm gonna have to cancel." Peter moaned, worried about what this could do to him and Susan. "I was really looking forward to this."
"Then just don't cancel." Bette shrugged.
"I'm blind, Bette." Peter reminded her, waving his hand in front of his eyes. "A literal blind date. This isn't going to work."
"Come on, we're in the Future Foundation, the ex-Mercury Labs." Bette proclaimed as she looked around. "There's bound to be something to help you get through a dinner."
Caitlin then smiled as she thought of something and eyed Cisco, who was staring at his computer. "Or...someone."
Seemed Peter was following what she was saying and quickly stood up. He was making his way out and trying to make his way out of the medical lab. "Cisco!" And that only ended with him smacking his face into some glass walls. "Ow!"
At the restaurant, Susan was already there and was waiting patiently for Peter to arrive. She knew he was dealing with a new metahuman so she was going to believe he was on his way now.
She wore l a light blue sleeveless dress with her hair woven in a French braided crown twist bun.
She was starting to get a little worried about if he was going to show. But that was when Peter came in wearing a nice jacket and white shirt. He stumbled around as he tried to reach the chair with the guidance of Cisco. He used some glasses that he placed a micro camera that they got from Baxter Foundation.
"Okay, the chair is two steps ahead of you."
"Hey." Peter greeted as he tried his best to act casually, but not exactly helping he ended up kicking the chair. "Sorry, I'm so late."
"Oh, no, I've barely been here five minutes," Susan promised him with a smile. "Actually, I judge the first date the if guy actually shows up. Right now, you're off to a great start."
"What? Who would ever stand you up?" Peter asks her in surprise.
"Oh, I have a reputation." Susan was sorry to admit it. But she suddenly realized what she said. "Not that kind of reputation! That's not what I meant."
Cisco chuckled to himself as he sat alone in the labs. "That's embarrassing."
"Well, I mean, Reed... he'd constantly cancel last minute," Susan explains to Peter. "But...let's not get into my ex."
"You mean your ex who tried to kill us, who I fought and sent hurling into a giant vortex that appeared in the sky?" Peter recalled his history with the man. "Definitely a subject you wanna avoid on first dates."
"Well, what do you wanna talk about?" Susan wonders.
"Well, for starters, how about what the kids got up to today?" Peter decided that was good of place if any.
"Franklin actually had quite the experience today with his first official day at school." Susan was happy to inform him. "Seemed that Valeria was good for May, though I do feel bad dropping her off like that."
"What?" Peter was shocked to hear that. "May loves her."
Cisco then noticed that a waiter was coming with a menu. "Dude, we've got a menu."
Peter quickly reacted, grabbing the menu the best he could. He then put it up to his face to try and have Cisco read it for him. But it seems this equipment wasn't exactly spotless as it ended up glitching and faltering.
"Dude, I can't make it out." Cisco was sorry to say.
Peter tried to quickly react and decided to take the easy way out. "You know what? You should take the lead on this." He then handed the menu to Susan. "I shouldn't make the decisions you're able to make."
Susan was a little confused but found it to be a little charming. "Okay." She then takes the menu and looks it over. "What do you say? Red or white?"
Peter wasn't sure how to answer that and knew it could mean a good or bad ending to the night. "You decide. You can take the helm."
"Okay, that's pretty sweet," Susan admitted. "Reed would always choose where we go, what we eat, so this is a nice change of pace."
"Dude, she looks amazing," Cisco tells him. "You've got to tell her that."
"You...you look amazing, by the way." Peter was sorry he didn't lead that way.
Uh, thanks, I actually had a hard time finding something to wear, it's been...like maybe ten years since the last time I was on a date." Susan was sorry to admit it. She then looked over her dress and fixed some of the wrinkles. "I wasn't sure if I could wear a dress or if this color was a little on the nose, but..."
"No, you look great," Peter tells her. "And...that-that color..."
Cisco was sorry to say he couldn't see it. "Nope, I've got nothing. It's all black and white."
"Well, whatever that color is, you look great on yourself," Peter tells her.
Cisco smiled and leaned back on the chair. "Dude, you've got this. Why do you even need me?"
"And there is something that I wanna say is frost is your...performance," Susan tells him with a smile.
Peter was a little confused by that and chuckled. "What?"
"I almost bought that you actually could see me." Susan declares with a smile.
Cisco jumped in fear and struggled to stand on his feet. "Abort! Abort!"
Peter was a little confused about how, but then he figured she wasn't exactly stupid. "Okay, fine." He took off the glasses and listened to Susan laugh as he blushed. "I'm really sorry and a little embarrassed I didn't say anything." He put the glasses away and blinded Cisco. "I fought with a new meta, she blinded me. I had Cisco rig these glasses so that we could
"Oh, my god!" Susan couldn't believe the trouble he went through for their date.
"And I really didn't wanna cancel," Peter explains and laughed at his stupidity. "You...you have a great smile."
"How do you know I'm smiling?" Susan wonders.
Peter shrugged. "I just had a feeling."
"Pete! I lost my eyes!" Cisco called out.
