Omake: Late Night Supply Mission
There were many things that Mariana Wake Aizawa loved about her husband. There were so many things that she couldn't fit it on a list if she tried. However if there was one thing that she could name, it would be his commitment. On top of being an Underground Hero, Shota was a teacher, and as such he had the workload of a teacher, which was nothing to sneeze at! Unfortunately that meant that sometimes he was up in the wee hours of the morning working on things that he hadn't had the time to do because of his hero work. There was a reason he brought his sleeping bag to class, and there was a reason that most people thought he was an ill-tempered insomniac.
They just didn't know the true reason why…
Syllabuses, schoolwork, sometimes administration, scheduling, his temporary expulsions, and for more than one class as well. Being a home room teacher meant you didn't really teach one specific subject, but you were far from jobless. He did it all, and all of it was done correctly and on time. Even if it was the night before a class.
She continued her musing as she worked in their kitchen, fixing him a tea and some snacks.
The combination of his hero work and his teaching position meant that he had very little free time, and anyone else would assume that he was neglecting her. Oh boy how wrong they were! To most it might not have been noticeable, but his small simple acts did not go unnoticed by her. And besides, even if he was busy he more than made time for her, their recent dinner date was proof of that. He had planned it in conjunction with his other duties. All that meant was that it was up to her to surprise him one day. Hmm, maybe a stay at home dinner and movie night would work. If there was one shared activity that both of them loved, it was cuddling on the couch and watching movies, sometimes even napping together.
Grabbing the plate she had made she made her way into their shared office room, and lo and behold, there he was, hunched over in front of a computer working on some school-related task. She rolled her eyes and walked over to him, setting the plate down next to his keyboard. He didn't jump, she hadn't tried sneaking anyways.
She took a step to her right and bent over, wrapping her arms around him and simply watching what he was doing for a moment. She looked at the bottom right of his monitor, 03:37. She would give him until 04:30, then she was dragging him to bed. She let him work, but she also looked out for his health.
"One late night supply order delivered to my wonderful husband, one Shota Aizawa," she murmured into his neck, simply holding him as she spoke. "On the condition that he drags his ass to bed by oh-four-thirty, or I'll come and bring you to bed myself."
He chuckled in that deep tone that she loved. "I'm almost finished up here, thanks for the 'resupply' love." he sat back up in his chair and rubbed at his eyes, wincing.
Mariana gave him a blank look and poked him in the cheek, "this is why I do this, you probably would've gone straight till Dawn if I didn't do anything." He went to protest before she covered his mouth, much to his amusement if the look he was giving her was any indication. She sighed and smiled at him.
"I don't mind you working late, you're committed to your students. It's one of the things I love most about you. I just wish you would take better care of yourself as well, Shota."
His amused look softened, "I know, and I am almost done here. I'll come to bed soon, don't worry."
She shook her head as she stood up, "I'm your wife, I'm always gonna worry about you," she turned to leave, "oh-four-thirty, don't forget. You're strong but you can't overpower some hundred thousand horsepower of diesel generators!"
"You know I can use my quirk on you right?"
"It deactivates my rigging, not my inherent strength! If I want you in our bed, you're going to be in our bed. Escaping night-time snuggling is impossible, Shota."
She heard him laughing to himself, it made her boiler room run hot. She closed the door, but not before taking one last look at him, smiling as she saw him drinking the tea she made.
Later that night, at 04:18 by her internal clock, she heard and felt her husband crawling into bed with her. She smiled as his arms wrapped around her and pulled her close.
"Goodnight Shota," she whispered
"'Night Mariana," she heard him mumble back.
He might be a workaholic, but he was her lovable workaholic.
I live! That was a few weeks, I don't know what you're talking about.
My health still isn't much better, but I figured in lieu of waiting to post my usual chapters I would post a fluffy Omake that I had rolling around in my head for the past few days. This serves as a notice that I'm not dead, and that I will be continuing this story soon. How soon I cannot say, but I've already shown two moments of my lovely couple and now I definitely can't abandon it!
At some point, I'll see you next time~
