Here's chapter 14 everybody.
Chapter 14: The Clock is Ticking.
At a highway in Oured, Henry and Jakob has arrived at the city and, just like back at Bana City, noticed the large alien spaceship hovering over it. They also noticed how the citizens of Oured were trying to get out while they are the only ones trying to get in the city, although Henry is currently trying to find his ex-girlfriend's personal number that she uses for political reasons.
"Everyone in the world is trying to get out of Oured. We're the only schmucks trying to get in." Jakob said as Henry inserted a disk into his laptop that he brought with him. "What the hell is that?"
"Pops, this is every phone book in Osea." Henry replied.
"You think an important person like Jennifer is going to be listed?" Jakob asked.
"She always keeps her other cell phone listed for emergencies. Sometimes it's just her initial. Sometimes it's her nickname. Sometimes it's just her–." Henry said.
As Henry was talking, Jakob looks back at the road and is shocked to see cars and other traffic are approaching them on the wrong side of the highway.
"Oh, my God!" Jakob shouted.
"Hey, hey, hey! Slow down!" Henry yelled.
"Tell them!" Jakob said as he tried to evade the oncoming cars. "Where are they going, all these people?1'
"Stop!" Henry yelled.
"Tell them! Tell them!" Jakob yelled.
"Right! Right! Slow it down!" Henry said.
Jakob managed to turn right, right into a highway exit, and avoided a crash.
"All right! We made it! We made it!" Jakob said.
"My goodness." Henry said before briefly looking back. "Nice driving, Pops."
"Well...So, not listed, huh?" Jakob asked.
"No, no. I haven't found it yet." Henry said.
After a few minutes, Henry managed to find Jennifer's number just as they arrived at Bright Hill, where there was some form of protest against the Osean President. Henry tries to call Jennifer.
"So...you want to ring the bell? Or should I?" Jakob asked.
"Oh, perfect. She's using it." Henry said as he heard a busy signal on the phone.
"Perfect. What's perfect? It's busy." Jakob said.
"Yeah. I can use her signal to triangulate her exact position in Bright Hill." Henry said as he placed a device on the roof of the car.
"You can do that?" Jakob asked.
"Yeah. All cable repairmen can, Pops." Henry replied.
Meanwhile, inside Bright Hill, Jennifer has just hung up the phone as some Bright Hill staff were watching the news.
"The visitors have arrived, but the president remains at Bright Hill. Are Mr. Wilford's actions A-ultra brave...or B-foolhardy?" an OBC anchor asked.
As Jennifer was watching, her cellphone goes off.
"What?" Jennifer answered.
"Now, don't hang up Jennifer." Henry said on the line.
"Henry. How did you get this number?" Jennifer whispered in concern.
"Do me a favor. Walk to the window." Henry said.
"And I'm looking for what?" Jennifer asked.
"You'll see." Henry replied.
Jennifer heads to the window and moves the curtain to see. She noticed that Henry and Jakob are actually outside Bright Hill.
"Over here. See us?" Henry asked.
"We're here." Jakob said.
"How does he do that?" Jennifer asked herself.
Meanwhile, at the Oured International Airport, just outside of Oured, the press and news reporters and Osean soldiers has gathered where they are reporting a helicopter squadron, which consist of two Bell UH-1 Iroquois' and one old Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe with two large panels on the sides, as they are about to commence liftoff and attempt to communicate with the alien visitors.
"Reporting live from Oured International Airport, just outside Oured where a helicopter squadron will be lifting off soon as they will try to communicate with the alien visitors. Now in light of our apparent inability to communicate with the visitors. Osean Air Force officials have retrofit this skylift helicopter with a type of visual communications device. Now this is not a military aircraft...but as you could see, this helicopter has been refitted with these enormous light panels that are attached to the hull and onto the sides." a female OBC news reporter reported.
Meanwhile, inside Redmill Air Force Base's mess hall, the ace pilots as well as all Osean and foreign pilots were watching the coverage as Trigger had returned from the locker room, holding his helmet.
"Okay, what's going on?" Trigger asked.
"They're about to takeoff." Mobius 1 replied.
"Long Caster had taken off moments ago. He'll be monitoring their progress from a distance to provide to the top brass." Count said.
"Hope things goes well." Trigger said.
Meanwhile, President Wilford arrives at his office to watch what's unfolding at the airport.
"Mr. President." Hurley said.
"Be seated." Wilford said as he approached Shepherd. "Where are we now?"
"They're just commencing liftoff." Shepherd replied.
Meanwhile, the helicopters are now airborne and the pilots begin the first part of their mission.
"Charlie One, Welcome Cab is in the air. I repeat. Welcome Cab is in the air." the pilot of Welcome Cab said.
"Roger, Welcome Cab. Charlie One right beside you." Charlie One said.
Back in Bright Hill, Jennifer is leading Henry and Jakob into the Oval Office.
"This is something. I would never believe in my lifetime, that I would be in Bright Hill. Look at this. If I knew I was going to meet the president, I would have worn a tie. I mean, look at me. I look like a schlemiel." Jakob said
"You look fine, Pops." Henry said.
"Oh, my God." Jakob said upon seeing the Oval Office.
"Henry, I don't know how happy he's going to be to see you." Jennifer said.
"That's right. I'm telling you, we're wasting time. He's not going to listen to me. We should go." Henry said.
"Why wouldn't he listen?" Jakob asked.
"'Cause last time I saw him, we, uh, we got into a fight." Henry replied.
"You walked in the room and punched him in the head." Jennifer reminded.
"You punched the president?" Jakob said, not believing what he heard.
"He wasn't president then. I punched him, he fought back. We wrestled around. It was a fight." Henry said.
"A fight that you started…" Jennifer said before looking at Jakob. "...because he got semi-drunk that day."
"Hey, hey. You know, either go get him, or we should head back to the car." Henry said.
"All right. I'll get him. You wait here, and don't touch anything." Jennifer said as she went to get Wilford.
"You punched the president? Mien Gott!" Jakob said.
Meanwhile, Welcome Cab and its helicopter escorts are slowly approaching the alien ship, nearing the fin-like structure on the craft.
"Nearing point of contact, Charlie One. We're closing in." Welcome Cab said.
"Roger that. You're good to commence sequence when ready." Charlie One said.
Back at the Oval Office, Jakobs was looking at the surroundings.
"This I like. Look at this. You know what famous people have been here, hmm? Politicians, actors...baseball players, singers...and now me." Jakob said.
"Imagine that. Look, a poor Belkan immigrant like me. It's a dream." Henry laughed.
"Henry, please!" Jakob said.
Meanwhile, Wilford is continuing to watch the TV on the helicopter's progress.
"The three choppers are steadily approaching what has been unanimously agreed to be the front of these spaceships, a parabolic indentation of 9 city blocks…" a female OBC reporter said.
As Wilford watched, Jennifer approached and whispered into his ear before he got up to follow her, gaining Hurley's attention.
"You're leaving now?" Hurley asked.
Back at the Oval Office, Jakob continued to survey his surroundings.
"Henry, see if they got those pens that they give away." Jakob said.
"Dad, what?" Henry said.
While they were waiting. Jennifer returns with Wilford, who recognizes Henry.
"I don't have time for this." Wilford said, not happy to see Henry.
"Two minutes, Robert." Jennifer said.
"Jennifer." Wilford said.
"Mr. President. Jakob Grabner. Henry is my son." Jakob said, shaking hands with Wilford.
"I told you he wouldn't listen." Henry said.
"Henry, you have to tell him." Jennifer said.
Henry and Jennifer continued to argue until Jennifer had enough.
"Henry, tell him!" Jennifer yelled, prompting Wilford to gesture to Henry to hear what he has to say.
"Uh, I know why we have satellite disruption." Henry said.
"All right. Go ahead." Wilford said.
"Okay." Henry said as he grabs a piece of paper and a pen. "Let's say that you want to coordinate with the spaceships on different sides of the Earth. You couldn't send a direct signal, right?" Henry said as he showed Wilford the drawing that he's explaining.
"You're talking about line of sight." Wilford said.
"Yeah, that's right. Exactly. The curve of the Earth prevents it. You'd need satellites to relay that signal in order to reach each ship. Well, I found a signal hidden inside our own satellite system." Henry said with a serious look in his face.
As Henry explains, an official walks in.
"Excuse me, Mr. President. They're starting." the official said.
Wilford turned his attention back to Henry.
"They're using our own satellites against us." Henry said as he showed them a countdown clock, as they have 28 minutes until the aliens start an attack. "And the clock is ticking.
Wilford and Jennifer then have horror in their eyes. Wilford now knows there is one thing he'll have to do, and that is to get everyone in Bright Hill and all cities that have an alien spaceship positioned over it, including Oured, to evacuate.
And that's the end of the chapter. Well, now things are about to get real. What will happen when the world knows the answer to the alien's intentions and the evacuations take place? Find out next time in the next chapter. Please review. :)
