24. Chapter 24: At The Ruins of McKimson

lixiaofossil: They had enough units to destroy in one go but for some odd reason they only deployed two dozen units. They think us humans are primitive.

Here's chapter 24 everybody.

Chapter 24: At The Ruins of McKimson.

Laila was driving the truck with Darius, Otis and the survivors and it was starting to get dark. She has just arrived at McKimson Air Force Base, where Michael is stationed at. Upon arriving, all she can see is flames, destroyed vehicles and planes. The base has been destroyed by the aliens.

"Oh, no..." Laila whispered.

Hours after breaking in and settling at a ruin hanger, Laila had searched for any food and drinks that might have been spared in the attack. She managed to find some food and drinks. After giving it to some survivors, she noticed Mrs. Wilford trying a mug full of tea. She rushed to her aid.

"Don't move. I'll get it for you. Stay still." Laila said.

Mrs. Wilford noticed Darius playing with an action figure.

"He's your son?" Mrs. Wilford asked.

"He's my angel." Laila replied.

"Was his father stationed here?"Mrs. Wilford asked.

"He was stationed here. I don't know what has happened to him." Laila replied.

"So what do you do for a living?"Mrs. Wilford asked.

"I'm a bartender." Laila replied.

"Must be hard work." Mrs. Wilford said.

"It's okay. It's good money. Besides, my baby's worth it. Darius. Come here. I want you to meet the first lady." Laila said.

Darius approached his mother and sat on her lap.

"Hello." Ms. Dilford said to Darius.

"Hi." Darius said.

"I didn't know that you'd recognized me." Mrs. Wilford said.

"Well, I didn't want to say nothing. I voted for the other guy." Laila said.

Both Laila and Mrs. Wilford talked for a while before Wilford fell to sleep. Laila continues to aid the other survivors.
