lixiaofossil: Dude, it's a story. Chill lol.

Here's chapter 26 everybody.

Chapter 26: Lost of Hope?

At a breakroom, Henry was in the kitchen as he served himself an alcoholic beverage. He was looking in the refrigerator for ice.

"Just my luck. No ice." Henry said, annoyed.

"I take it you've heard." Jennifer asked as she was standing at the doorway.

"Hey, a toast. To the end of the world." Henry said as he raised his glass.

"He didn't come to this decision lightly. He didn't have any other choice." Jennifer said.

"Yeah. You still believe in him." Henry said.

"Yeah. Well, he's a good man." Jennifer said.

"Whoa… ha ha. He better be. You left me for your career." Henry said.

"You know, it wasn't just my career. It was the biggest opportunity of my life. I wanted my life to make a difference. I wanted my life to mean something." Jennifer said.

"Yeah, and, um, hmm, I wasn't ambitious enough for you?" Henry asked.

"Henry, you could have done anything that you wanted. Research, development-." Jennifer said.

"Jenny, I was happy where I was." Henry said.

"Haven't you ever wanted to be part of something special?" Jennifer said.

"I am part of something special." Henry said.

Jennifer began to leave the room as she didn't want to cause a argument before standing at the doorway.

"Well, if it makes any difference, I never stopped loving you." Jennifer said.

"But that wasn't enough, was it?" Henry asked before Jennifer leaves.

Meanwhile, back at the surface, outside the base, Michael was sitting down in sorrow, losing hope, as he thinks that his wife Laila and his son Darius have been killed by the alien invaders back at his home base, but something is telling him that they're still alive. He then turns his attention to a group of base personnel and soldiers moving stuff around a Sikorsky MH-60 Blackhawk helicopter. He noticed that Area 95 is tightening its defenses due to the alien threat. There are now more ground troops and aircraft, as well as more anti-aircraft guns, surface-to-air missile launchers, AA artillery flak guns and more radar systems, to help defend the base. He also noticed one soldier barking orders to other soldiers to pick up some equipment. This was his perfect opportunity to take the helicopter and pilot it to McKimson Air Force Base. But as he was strapping himself into the cockpit, the same soldier noticed him and ran towards him.

"What the hell are you doing? Get out of there!" the soldier said, pulling out a pistol and pointing it at Michael.

"Look, I got something I got to handle. I'm just borrowing it." Michael said.

"No, you're not, sir." the soldier said.

"Do you really want to shoot me?" Michael said, causing the soldier to think and lowered his gun. "Just tell them I hit you."

With that, Michael takes off and flies the Blackhawk to the ruins of McKimson Air Force Base.

And that's the end of the chapter. Not much to say here. Time for the first nuke scene. Please review. :)
