Chapter 23

Once we arrive at Route 40, Shade says, "Route 41 is probably more dangerous because it's where the Whirl Islands are located. But I'm pretty sure that it will be just fine for you."

"Although we don't have the HM for Whirlpool yet, we still have Pokemon that can learn Whirlpool."

After battling some trainers, we are now at the Whirl Islands. There is a festival called the Parade of the Chinchou, and it celebrates the natural migration of newly hatched Chinchou from the mountains to the ocean. Of course, Team Rocket appears and tries to steal the Chinchou, but they block their way to get across the ocean. In the end, Chinchou all evolve into Lanturn, and they use Spark to help Pikachu send them flying.

With all the Lanturn swim away, two of the Lanturn want to join me and Reisa, so we capture them.

Chinchou: The Angler Pokemon: Water and Electric Type. Its antennae, which evolved from a fin, have both positive and negative charges flowing through them.

Lanturn: The Light Pokemon: Water and Electric Type. Evolved from Chinchou at LV:27. This Pokémon uses the bright part of its body, which changed from a dorsal fin, to lure prey.

Then we continue as we get to a mart on one of the islands. Lillie says, "Ash, look at this!"

We see a unique gift shop with a few jewelry-like objects on display, made of pink crystal. Lillie is showing me one of the objects and says, "Isn't it beautiful?"

"They are made from Corsola." The shop clerk mentions and then it excites Reisa since she wants to capture one. Suddenly, we hear a girl scream for help, then we notice there is a whirlpool nearby dragging her and the floating house in.

"Leave this to me." Reisa says as she jumps into the pool, then she pulls the house away from the powerful whirlpool and reaches the shore.

"Wow, you are really strong..." Kris says with surprise.

"I know." Reisa says.

The young girl Mika reunites with her concerned family on the beach. I ask, "How is your home washed away?"

"Well, it was constructed on top of a Corsola nest." Andrea, the shop worker says. Then she reveals that her father is a Corsola horn artist, and uses the local Corsola for his creations.

Andrea explains that the family's pet Corsola is particularly energetic, and led the other Corsola to leave suddenly. As a result, the home's Corsola nest foundation was weakened, allowing it to be washed out to sea.

Reisa wants to catch the Corsola, but Lillie stops her, saying that the family needs the Corsola to return for their livelihoods, so we volunteer to assist them. Andrea mentions that Corsola likes to be in pairs, so finding them shouldn't be difficult. The group starts looking around in the forest, eventually spotting two of them and picking them up.

East sets up a Pokémon food lure to wait and see if any others would come. Soon enough, another pair arrives, just as Mika's Corsola begins acting up. It almost scares the two off until Reisa and Andrea come and pick them up.

My Murkrow soon scouts the area and reports back to us, having found two more. Murkrow leads us to a beach, where it lands to distract them for a moment before Andrea and I can get them. In Mika's area, they find the last two. We return to the Corsola nests, and Andrea counts all of the Corsola and declares that all are accounted for.

Suddenly, Team Rocket captures all of the Corsola, except for the energetic one and a calm one because Lillie kicks away the rope. James reels in the Corsola, hoisting them up the Meowth balloon. I decide to have Murkrow save them, but James counters with Weezing's Smokescreen. This temporarily stops Murkrow for a while, but the Pokémon soon flies out of the toxic cloud and zips by Team Rocket's balloon at high speed, making a hole and causing them to crash.

Team Rocket tries to battle them, but they are defeated by the Corsola, and then the Spike Cannon sends them flying again.

"This time I am going to capture it!" Reisa says with determination as she and Lillie decide to battle the two Corsola who helped them. In the end, they win and capture the Pokemon.

Johto Dex Entry No.71 Corsola: The Coral Pokemon: Water and Rock Type. The points on its head absorb nutrients from clear water. They cannot survive in polluted water.

The family thanked us for helping them get their Corsola back, and we decided to continue surfing through the route.

When we arrive at another island, we are surprised to see Daisy on the island. I ask, "Daisy? What are you doing here?"

"Hello Ash, I'm trying to find the Titan Qwilfish around the area." Daisy says.

"There is a Titan Qwilfish?" Reisa gasps.

Then she shows us a lot of Qwilfish, Togetic tries to get along with them, but it gets poisoned by their Poison Sting. "That's not nice." We heal Togetic while we continue to look at the Qwilfish. There is one that sucks more water than the others, and we think it is the Titan Pokemon.

We battle the Titan as it uses Poison Jab and Venoshock at the same time on Pikachu, but Pikachu still defeats it with Thunderbolt. In the end, we also capture two Qwilfish for ourselves.

Qwilfish: The Balloon Pokemon: Water and Poison Type. The small spikes covering its body developed from scales. They inject a toxin that causes fainting.

"I'm glad to see the Titan Qwilfish, I think you should have this." Then Daisy gives me another one of her badges, this time it is the Gas Badge, since it is shaped like a gas. "Now I'm going to find another Titan, it is a Mantine and it should probably spawn west from us."

"That means we can find the Pokemon as well." I say.

With Daisy joining us, we head west to see if we can find the Titan Mantine. East says, "There is actually a silver-colored Pokemon living here on the islands, I wonder if we can actually see it."

"Same here, but we're close to Ogi City." Daisy says.

When we get there, we meet a girl named Luka. She shows us a treasure map and she believes that a Silver Wing is a treasure.

"Silver Wing?" Reisa asks. "You mean Lugia's feather?"

"Well, I am not sure." Luka says.

Luka continues her story and reveals that her great-grandfather's ship, the I.S.S Raspberry, was caught in a horrible storm and the Silver Wing went down with it. She hopes to finally prove her great-grandfather's story and has since run through some calculations to determine where the shipwreck may be lying. The potential of the future instantly excites us. Luka likes their enthusiasm and allows them to join her.

When we soon arrive at where the X marks the spot, she calls three Magikarp to act as guides while we go underwater. We find the sunken I.S.S Raspberry and scout inside, but much to our surprise, we find a lot of Mantine and they scare the Magikarp.

When we get back on shore, we decide to distract the Mantine while leaving Luka and Lillie at the shipwreck. And Reisa, Ethan, and I got a Mantine for ourselves. But then, Team Rocket appears and they're causing trouble once more. Fortunately, there is a Titan Mantine using Bounce to send Team Rocket flying. Luka also gets the Silver Wing she wanted. And Ethan named his Mantine Tibo.

"Since we manage to see the mysterious Titan Mantine, I should give you this. The Whirlpool Badge." Daisy then gives me another badge, and we thank her for it. Then Daisy decides to leave us since she has more Titans to find, and we continue west to Cianwood City.

We quickly head to the Cianwood Pharmacy, trying to help the Olivine Gym Leader Jasmine with her Ampharos Amphy.

The man asks, "May I help you?"

Shade steps forward and says, "Excuse me, but we need the Secret medicine."

The man looks at Pikachu and Togetic and he says, "Your Pokemon appear to be fine. Is something the matter?"

"It is not us that needs the medicine, it is for my Mom's Ampharos." Shade says.

"The Lighthouse Pokemon is in trouble? I get it." He takes out the medicine and says, "This ought to do the trick."

Then he is given the Secret Medicine, and the man says, "My secret potion is a tad too strong. I only offer it in an emergency."

"Thank you very much, sir." Then Shade decides to head back to Olivine City since the ferry is leaving soon and his mother really needs the medicine. So now that it is only the six of us again.

Then we walk and find a place with the camera. We find a man inside and he says, "Hi. You must be a sightseer! Why not take a picture here?"

"So that is what the camera outside is for?" I ask.

"You saw the camera outside? I put it there! You may come across my relatives here and there. Anyway, go ahead and take a picture! Check the camera, and it'll take a picture for you. I'll be a good memory for you and your Pokemon!"

We nod as they take some pictures, after that, we go into another house and find a shivering boy. East asks, "What's wrong?"

"I...I'm in shock...a guy about your age with piercing eyes and long hair came in. He scared me into giving him my prized Pokemon!" The boy named Kirk says, and the we're frowning.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Reisa says.

"I still have one left, but what if he comes back? You two look strong. Could you look after my Pokemon?" Kirk asks as he takes out a Pokeball, which contains the Shuckle.

"Are you sure you are going to give us this Pokemon?" Lillie asks.

"Of course, thank you! Take care of it for me, please!" Kirk pleads, and we accept the Pokemon from the boy.

Shuckle: The Mold Pokemon: Bug and Rock Type. It stores Berries inside its shell. To avoid attacks, it hides beneath rocks and remains completely still.

"Well, you got another new Pokemon with you." Kris says.

"I know. But that is very weird..." I say. When we head outside, we notice that in the north, Suicune is standing there watching us.

"This is the third time..." Lillie says.

Suicune looks at us before running around us and takes off. And Eusine appears once again. "Eusine? What are you doing here?"

"Never mind that. Wasn't that Suicune just now? I only caught a quick glimpse, but I thought I saw Suicune running on the waves." Eusine says.

"Yeah, we did see that." Reisa asks, "But is that a big deal?"

"Of course! Suicune is beautiful and grand. And it races through towns and roads at simply awesome speeds. It's wonderful... I want to see Suicune up close... I've decided. I'll battle you as a trainer to earn Suicune's respect!"

"Wait, a battle?" Kris asks. "You want to battle us?"

Lillie says, "Then I'll be glad to battle you, considering that I haven't battled much as Ash does."

Eusine sends out his first Pokemon, and it is a Drowzee, Lillie goes for Houndoom to battle. It has bene using a lot of Dark moves to deal damage to Drowzee. Lillie says, "Use Crunch."

Houndoom bites at Drowzee, Eusine says, "You're not bad, but too bad it is going to be Disabled!"

Drowzee uses the move and Crunch is no longer usable. Lillie smiles as she has Houndoom use Fire Fang, which deals a lot of damage. Eusine has Drowzee go for Hypnosis, causing Houndoom to fall asleep. With the Wake Up Slap, Houndoom wakes up again but takes a lot of damage, and it finishes Drowzee with the Crunch.

"It seems like I have underestimated you, but my second Pokemon is going to defeat you. Go, Haunter!" Eusine says as he sends out his second Pokemon.

Lillie continues with Houndoom, she says, "It is a Ghost Type, it won't be able to do much damage to a Dark Type Pokemon."

"Do you really think so?" Eusine says as he has Haunter use Curse, which cuts its own HP to give Houndoom damage, and the move causes it to faint.

"Oh boy..." Lillie says as she sends out her next Pokemon, which is Ariados. She says, "Curse cuts half of the HP, which means it won't be able to do it again, this is going to be a good chance."

Ariados uses Shadow Sneak, which deals a lot of damage to Haunter. Haunter goes for Hypnosis, and Ariados falls asleep.

"Not again..." Lillie mutters. She tries to switch out, but Haunter goes for Mean Look to prevent it from switching out. But fortunately, Ariados wakes up and uses Astonish to defeat Haunter.

Eusine says, "I can't lose, Suicune must be watching it." His final Pokemon is Electrode, and Lillie decides to switch out for Quagsire, with the Ground Type, Thunder doesn't have any effect on it.

"Use Rollout!" Eusine says as Electrode is rolling around, giving Quagsire more and more damage. He says, "All right! Suicune, were you watching us? I am about to win this game!"

"It will never know the result until the very end. My Quagsire has a special move that can defeat you. Magnitude!" Lillie says.

Quagsire goes for the Magnitude, which is actually 5, it is not enough to defeat Quagsire.

"A 5-degree Magnitude...talk about luck..." Ethan says, but Quagsire goes for Muddy Water, knocking the Pokemon out of the battle. Eusine is shocked at his loss, but he sighs and says, "I hate to admit it, but you win."

Lillie smiles and says, "You are not that bad as well. That sure is a good match."

"You're amazing, Alice! I'm starting to understand why Suicune was keeping an eye on you. I'm going to keep searching for Suicune. I have a feeling we'll see each other again. See you around!" Then we watch Eusine leave.
