Jamie was woken up from his sleep by someone kicking his bed. He jumped out of it, glad he was wearing trousers and a top and saw Eric was a massive grin on his face, Four looked at Eric disapprovingly. "Wakey, wakey initiates, today is your first day of training." There were a few groans from the room and someone asking what time it was. "If you want breakfast go now, be in the training room in thirty." Eric still shouting. Jamie didn't even wait for the rest of the initiates to get out of bed and dressed, he didn't need to hear anymore comments about his scars or anything else they decided to say today. Jamie made his way to the mess hall and saw Alex eating on his own. Alex looked up and smiled at Jamie and pointed to the empty seat. Jamie nodded his head at him and went to the line to grab some food.
He sat down next to Alex with a coffee, toast, and an apple. "Morning." Alex greeted. "Alice, Cameron and Lewis are coming, they wanted to sleep in."
"I wish I could, Eric decided to kick my bed and wake me up." Jamie grumbled back. "Ouch, did you sleep at all? You look like shit." Alex said sympathetically. "To be honest no, was worrying about today." Jamie admitted. "You'll be fine." Alex grinned. Jamie began to eat, and the two boys chatted about different things, Alice, Cameron and Lewis joined them later. There was five minutes left until they all had to go to training, so they all got up and made their way to the training room.
Once inside Jamie made his way to where Four and Eric were standing and Alex, Cameron, Lewis, and Alice made their way to the group of Dauntlessborn. Once the rest of the class was there Four spoke up. "Today marks the first day of training, you will be ranked." Four proceeded to point at the board. "Those ranked bottom ten will be put on fence duty, which you will be shown later this week." Eric added while staring at Jamie. Jamie looked away, knowing he was the weakest of the group. "Today we will start with a run, follow me." The group followed Four with Eric behind shouting at the ones at the back to hurry up. Jamie was near the back not used to running and all the exercise.
That day they had learnt how to lift weights properly and how to work on their cardio. Training seemed to fly by, and Jamie was just thinking about how much his muscles were already hurting when Four spoke up. "You all did well today, see you all tomorrow." Eric scoffed at his comment and mumbled to Four, "Yeah they did well if they all want to be Factionless." "It's their first day Eric, I can remember you were at the back of the running exercise on your first day." Four replied smiling. "Fuck you Four." Eric replied. The group was leaving, and Jamie was about to follow at the back, not trusting what the group would do to him if he were at front. "Jamie a word please." Four asked. Jamie turned around and saw Eric raise his eyebrows at him. "Alone." Four looked at Eric. Eric glared at Four and left.
"Yes Four." Jamie said, looking at the man with shaved brown hair and brown eyes to match. During the training session Jamie had concluded that Four was indeed his brother Tobias. "What are you doing here?" Four asked. Jamie looked and sneered at his older brother. "What do you think? I scored Dauntless in my aptitude test, and I followed on from that. Do you really think I'd stay in Abnegation with him?" Jamie glared at his brother. "And I am really surprised you're here, you know seeing as you're a coward. Thought you'd go to Amity, you're not smart enough for Erudite and you can't tell the truth either so that would've ruled Candor out." He added harshly. "Jamison, please hear me out." "It's Jamie." He spat. "I'm sorry for leaving and abandoning you without telling you. You are right I was too much of a coward for not being able to tell you. I wanted you to have a life for yourself and not follow me." "Funny how the universe works then Four. Cause look I'm here and unfortunately you are too. You could've told me you were leaving, not where you were going." "Jamie, I thought if I didn't tell you then Marcus would go easy on you after I left." Jamie scoffed. "You really think that asshole would've gone easy." He laughed. "That fucker, beat me as soon as he got home. He beat me so bad that I led in a puddle of my piss and blood until I managed to drag myself into the bathroom to clean myself up." Four's face went pale. "I then had to lie to the rest of the faction and say that I was jumped on the way home from school by a bunch of Dauntless kids." "I'm so sorry." "No Four you don't get to be sorry. You told me stories about how we would move out together, to get away from Marcus. You didn't even say goodbye. I came home from school expecting you there and you weren't. You fucking left." Four went to put a hand on Jamie. "No Four, fuck off. You are dead to me. Now you are just my trainer and nothing more. Don't try and talk to me again." With that Jamie turned around and stormed out the training room.
Tears were threating to fall when Jamie bumped into a solid object. He looked up and saw Eric. "Sorry." He mumbled trying to get away when Eric grabbed him. "What was that about?" Eric asked with raised eyebrows. "Guess you heard all that?" Jamie asked. "Yeah, I did. Is this going to affect your training?" Eric asked. "No, it won't." "Who is he to you?" Eric asked curiously. Jamie sighed. "My brother." Eric's eyes grew wide, and Jamie was surprised how high Eric's eyebrows went. "I was not expecting that." Eric said shocked. "Yep, now you know. So will this affect my training or anything?" Jamie had hoped not, he didn't want to be Factionless and there was no way he was going back to Abnegation, even if he was allowed. "No, it will not. You can go now." With that Jamie left. Eric grinned to himself about this latest information.

Jamie went to dinner and sat with his new friends. Lewis wasn't there as he was on a date with some girl. Alex had asked Jamie if he wanted to hang out with them before they needed to go to bed. He had declined wanting to just go to sleep and forget about the conversation he had with Four. Talking to Four had bought up the day that he had left, and he swore he could feel the scars from that day begin to sting a little, he knew it was all in his head. Jamie said his goodbyes and went to the dorm, which was empty. He made use of the empty dorm by having a shower in peace, getting dressed and getting into bed. Jamie stared up at the ceiling and setting his new watch (courtesy of Dauntless) to three hours before they all needed to get up. Jamie knew that if wanted a chance to have good position in Dauntless he would have to work hard for it. He did his best to clear his mind of all thoughts before going to sleep.
Jamie woke up to the sound of his watch beeping at him and he quickly turned it off. He stayed still in his bed to see if it disturbed anyone and when he just heard the snores of some of the people in the room he quietly got out of bed and got dressed as quickly and silently as he could. He slipped out of the dorm and made his way to the training room. Jamie heard someone else in there and hoped he wouldn't get in trouble for it. He opened the door, hoping it wasn't Four in there and to his surprise there was Eric. Eric was punching a bag and was lost in his own trance when Jamie spoke up. "Sorry." He replied about to leave. Jamie supposed he could go for a run around the compound and then he wouldn't have to worry about the cardio and could focus on weight training during their training sessions. Eric turned around, quickly hiding the startled look on his face, hoping Jamie didn't see that he had made him jump. "You're up early Stiff, training isn't for another three hours." Eric was curious. "Sorry again. I just wanted to get some extra practice in. I'm not stupid, I know I'm the weakest in the group." Eric stood and thought for a second. He still wanted to find a way to use the knowledge that Jamie was Four's brother and he think he found a way to get under Four's skin. "I'll make you an offer and I'll need an answer straight away." Eric stared at Jamie. "What is the offer?" He asked, curious. "I will help you to train. If you slack off and not put in one hundred percent or do not turn up for any of the training sessions, you can either leave Dauntless or jump into the cavern. It will not be easy, and you will have next to no free time to yourself, however you will be real competition." Jamie was grateful that Eric wanted to train him. "Why me?" How would Eric reply to that. He stood and thought for a couple of minutes. He didn't want to tell Jamie the truth as he knew the Stiff would properly not agree for the help, but then the Stiff was in no position to not take the offer. "I like your spirit. We need good soldiers and you have shown you need to improve and used your initiative. One thing though if you agree it must be kept quiet too." Jamie thought a few seconds and nodded. "When do I start?" Eric grinned at Jamie, "Now."

Jamie had been training with Eric for three weeks, getting up early and finishing late at night. Eric was right Jamie had no free time to himself. As soon as he woke up they would meet in the training room and do various exercises, then he would practice some fighting with Jamie. As soon as the training was completed with the group of transfer Jamie had thirty minutes to eat dinner, where he caught up with his friends and then he would be back at training with Eric for a couple more hours. During that time Eric had warned Jamie that the fights would start at the beginning of the month and wanted him ready for them. Jamie felt pain everywhere, his muscles were sore however he noticed he was looking better in shape and the Dauntless clothes that were much too big before started to fit. Eric would always bring breakfast into the training room to eat before the men got started, as he had said it was bad to work out without food in you. The coffee Eric bought with him was so much better than the one they served in the mess hall; however, nothing was worse than Abnegation coffee Jamie always thought while taking a sip. During their breakfast Eric and Jamie got to know each other a bit more. Jamie had learnt Eric's position in the faction, not just a leader however he was head of the military side of things and had allocated soldiers to their groups and missions. Eric also oversaw making sure patrol reports were on time and ordered the ammunition and any other equipment the faction needed on that side of things. Eric had asked Jamie questions about Abnegation and about Marcus. Eric had heard rumours from the faction meetings he attended that Marcus had beat his children, however there was no solid evidence that he did, and Eric was interested to hear about it all from Jamie. Eric also asked Jamie about Four and he would reply with venom.
Originally Eric's plan was to use Jamie to get to Four, however the more time he spent with the Stiff, the more he began to like him. There was a mutual attraction between the two men before and especially now as Jamie's hair was starting to grow after it was shaved so short.
