The Dragon Riders were still making their way across the sea; it was still a little shaken after their venture on Breakneck Bog, and now they were all relaxing under the sun.
Fishlegs was currently looking out to sea as if searching for something.
"What are you looking for, Fishface?" Snotlout asked.
"I was hoping to get a newspaper," said Fishlegs.
"Why?" Snotlout asked.
"Because it's worth knowing what's going on in the world," said Fishlegs. "Plus, I want to know what they're going to save on Moria?"
"The World Government is not going to say anything about Moria," said Astrid as she walked by. "You heard what they told Kuma; they don't want anyone to know that another Warlord was defeated."
"Plus, Moria wasn't in danger in another country," Heather added as she watered her flowers. "Though I am as to why Kuma allowed us to walk away virtually scot-free. He is widely known as the only Warlord to blindly follow the World Government orders."
"It is not called the Tyrant for nothing either," Hiccup agreed. "I don't know the full story, but it was said that he was once a king of the country."
Snotlout looked up. "Wait, you're saying that the giant guy with the paw pads is a king."
"I said he was a king," Hiccup corrected him. "Until his people rose up against him for his tyrannical actions, hence the moniker."
"Maybe he thought we were all dead," said Tuffnut. "I mean, that giant air bomb he used was pretty powerful."
"I can't see any assassin would make that kind of mistake," said Astrid folding her arms. "And even if you believe that we were dead, why didn't he bring Hiccup as proof that he completed his mission."
"I wouldn't complain; I mean, we're all still alive," said Chopper.
"We're all grateful that we're still alive, Chopper, but something is off," said Astrid.
"I think you're putting too much into this," Snotlout scoffed. "So he messed up, and the World Government is going to punish him for it, so why should we care?"
Toothless just sat there in silence; he, too, was thinking about Kuma. For someone who was known as the Tyrant certainly had an honourable side, and it was almost as if his heart wasn't in the assignment he was given.
Everyone then stopped what they were doing when they heard Skull playing the violin and immediately relaxed to its melody.
"Please, my friends, let us not be troubled by someone far away and focus more on what is ahead of us," said Skull. "For whatever reason that Kuma had for sparing our lives, I don't know any time soon until we meet him again, and I, for one, would like to encounter him when we are better rested."
Hiccup nodded. "Skull's right; we should be more focus on our current objective of getting to Fishman Island."
"I'm down with that, but I doubt the World Government is going to ignore it any more," said Eret.
"And we'll be getting close to Navy headquarters as well, so we better stay on guard," said Fishlegs.
"Not just the Navy, but the capital of the World Government as well, Meridian," Hiccup added. "We are, after all, the only pirates in the world that have declared war on the World Government."
"And whose fault is that?" Snotlout muttered.
Heather looked away ashamed, and Astrid then punched him hard in the elbow.
"What?" he said. "We all know it's true!"
"And none of us regrets our decision, do we?" Astrid glared.
Snotlout gulped. "No. No, regret here."
Skull looked at Hiccup curiously. "So, it's true that you're a Haddock."
"It is," Hiccup nodded.
"My your family is famous within the pilot worldwithin the pirate world; there have been many tales of a Haddock running roughshod over the seas, and I do mean all of them."
"So, Hiccup's family is really famous?" Tuffnut blinked.
"I've never heard of a famous Haddock," said Ruffnut.
"Don't forget this was before the Great Pirate Era," Hiccup reminded them. "Back then, pirates were small in number and not as big the nuisance as they are now."
"I know your father is Stoick the Vast, but do you have any other famous Pirates in your family?" Astrid asked curiously.
"There's my great-great-grandfather Grimbread the Ghastly," said Hiccup. "A hundred years ago, he terrorised anyone in his path."
"I've heard of him," said Ragnar. "He was very close to becoming King of the Pirates before Roger."
"The World Government stop him?" Chopper asked.
"No, it was one of his sons," said Hiccup. "His name was Hiccup D Haddock."
"Wait, you stopped him?" Tuffnut frowned, confused.
Astrid rolled her eyes. "No, you muttonheads, they just have the same name."
"I am the third person in our family to be called Hiccup," Hiccup explained. "My great-great-grandfather was becoming a threat not just to the people of the world but the pirates as well. He also did something that our family have always low to do when that was keeping and selling slaves."
"Wait, your family had slaves?" said Fishlegs disgusted.
"Only my great-great-grandfather," said Hiccup.
"So how did the second Hiccup stop him?" Eret asked, looking curiously.
Hiccup shrugged. "I don't know."
"You don't know?" everyone stared.
"I know there was some sort of battle, but it became very chaotic as pirates and Navy ships began fighting each other at the exact same time. As a result, the once great pirate empire Grimbread had created was completely destroyed; only a few survivors survived."
"Sounds like a cover-up," said Ragnar.
"I bet the World Government was hoping to wipe the oldest pirate family from existence," Heather assumed.
"That's what my father believes," said Hiccup. "I don't know what it is about my family, but with never merely been welcomed in any country that's part of the World Government. It's almost as if they decided that we were a threat from the get-go."
"Interesting," said Heather looking up from her book.
"So your family really came pirates because they were forced to," Astrid concluded.
"That pretty much sizes it up, yes," Hiccup nodded.
"But why?" Ragnar asked.
"I honestly have no clue."
Before they could dwell any further, the entire ship shook violently.
"What's going on?" Chopper yelled.
"Storm?" Eret asked.
"This isn't a cloud in the sky!" Fishlegs pointed, and sure enough, the skies were perfectly clear. "This feels more like a sea quake."
Hiccup's eyes lit up. "Don't tell me… gang, do exactly what I tell you!"
"Why?" Snotlout yelled.
"Because I'm a bloodied captain!" Hiccup reminded him. "Now get to the wheel!"
Astrid looked at Snotlout. "You heard the man!"
"All right, all right!" Snotlout yelled and ran towards the wheel. "What do I do now?"
"Hard to starboard!" Hiccup ordered.
Snotlout quickly turned the wheel.
"Everyone, hold to something secure and don't let go until I tell you!"
"Like we were going to do anything else," said Fishlegs as he held onto the mast.
"Hiccup, do you know what's going on?" Astrid asked.
"Let's just say my dad is saying hello," said Hiccup.
"Your dad?!" Astrid stared.
"Snotlout, keep us as steady as much as you can. It should be over soon," Hiccup instructed.
Sure enough, everything the ships slowly stopped shaking and finally came to a stop.
"Okay, we should be fine now," said Hiccup.
Practically everyone groaned, and the twins immediately went over the side and threw up.
"That was unpleasant," Ragnar groaned.
"What was that?" Toothless asked.
"And what is that?" Chopper asked, pointing behind them.
Slowly everyone turned to what he was pointing at and saw a massive ship floating next to them; it had to be three times as big as the Night Fury.
"That would be my father's ship," said Hiccup.
"What?" everyone stared.
Then they saw looking down at a massive giant of a man who had the same emerald green eyes as Hiccup. All of them instantly recognised him from the wanted posters. It was none other than Stoick the Vast.
"Where the hell did that ship come from?" Eret asked.
"Probably snuck up on us while we were trying to stabilise the ship," Toothless assumed.
"Okay, but why was everything shaking?" Fishlegs asked.
"That would be my father's Devil Fruit power, the Tremor-Tremor Fruit; he is able to create quakes at will," Hiccup explained.
"And why was the old man trying to kill us?" Snotlout asked.
"I wasn't trying to kill you. I was seeing what my son's crew was capable of," said a booming voice above them.
They instantly looked up at Stoick but then suddenly jumped down. The moment he landed on their ship, he caused it to shake once more and nearly capsised it.
"Hiccup, your family are completely nuts!" Fishlegs yelled.
"You only just discovered this now?" Hiccup asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I see your crew is quite lively, son," said Stoick as he looked around the deck. "Though I see you're small in number."
"Quality over quantity?" Hiccup smiled.
"And some of your crew mates seem to be unusual; I see a reindeer and a living skeleton," Stoick observed.
"That's not going to be a problem, is it?" Hiccup asked, folding his arms.
"I trust your judgement, and they have to be capable. You've made it this far in the Grand Line. My ship, by the way."
"It's my masterpiece," said Eret proudly.
"And it's made from the wood of Yggdrasil if I'm not mistaken," Stoick observed. "That must have cost a fortune to get."
"Dad, what are you doing here?" Hiccup asked. "Shouldn't you be in the New World?"
"Does a father need an excuse to see how his son is doing?" Stoick asked.
Hiccup raised an eyebrow.
"I did want to see how you are doing, Hiccup, but I want to really know what happened at Enies Lobby. I only know from what I've read in the newspaper, and I find it hard to believe that you would destroy the judiciary island on a whim."
"It's a long story," said Hiccup.
"And one we can share over a nice meal," Ragnar added.
"Then, by all means, regale me as we eat," said Stoick.
Ragnar immediately prepared a meal for everyone, which was just as delicious as usual. As they ate, Hiccup explained everything that had happened at Enies Lobby, not leaving out a single detail.
"So the World Government took a member of your crew when you went after," said Stoick proudly. "I would have done the exact same thing, son. Though I can't believe the man in charge of the island unleashed a Buster Call completely by accident, burning the island to the ground."
"He wasn't too bright," said Eret.
Stoick then turned his eyes to Eret. "And you're actually Old Tom's apprentice."
"You knew my former master?"
"Not personally, but Roger did always say that he was the best shipwright of our generation."
"Hang on, I thought you and Roger were enemies?" Snotlout frowned.
"We were, but that didn't mean we didn't respect one another," said Stoick strongly.
"So what was he like?" Astrid asked curiously.
"Old Roger," Stoick frowned. "He was a real leader of men and was always up for a little adventure no matter how dangerous it was. Plus, the man was unbelievably stubborn; whenever his mind was set on something, you could never make him change his mind."
"That sounds familiar," said Toothless softly.
"I must. I have never tasted such delicious food in all my life," said Stoick as he ate and turned to Ragnar. "You're an extremely skilled young man."
"Thanks, but I still have a lot to learn," said Ragnar.
Stoick looked at him curiously. "So your Alvin's boy; I'm sure your father recently."
"Really?" Ragnar asked, looking up.
"Yes, tried to convince me to tell Ace not to go after Drago as if he has the right to order me around," Stoick huffed.
"So Ace is doing fine, right?" Hiccup asked.
Stoick looked at Hiccup. "Haven't heard from him since he went out hunting Drago. I did try to talk him out on it, but he said it was his duty. I wouldn't worry about him; you know just as well as I do, if not more."
Hiccup nodded.
"So you've tangled of three Warlords now, and you manage to beat two of them," Stoick smiled proudly. "You've got into more scrapes than me when I was first starting out."
"Hiccup was telling us before your arrival of your family's history," said Heather. "He mentioned your ancestor, Grimbread the Ghastly."
"Oh, him," Stoick huffed. "A chapter of our family history best left forgotten if you ask me. He was never a true Haddock, a true Haddock would never stoop so low as having slaves. He nearly destroyed our family if it wasn't for the heroic efforts of his son."
"Then I take it you don't know more about what happened," Heather assumed.
"What I have an on that day is sketchy at best; not even the Government is willing to acknowledge what happened there," said Stoick. "And I doubt you'll find anyone alive who knows what truly happened."
"Such a shame, an important piece of your family history gone," said Heather.
"Maybe, maybe, but it would be the first time that events have not been recorded," said Stoick looking at Heather. "As you yourself should know."
"Sadly, I do," said Heather sadly. "But I would like to confirm something."
"And what would that be?"
"Is Valka the Revolutionary really your wife?" she asked.
Stoick nearly choked on the drink he was gulping down; he had to bang his hand on his chest to get the drink down.
"I'll take that as a yes," said Heather.
"How do you know about that?" Stoick coughed.
"Grandpa let it slip in front of quite a large audience," said Hiccup.
"Wrinkly, of course, he did," Stoick muttered. "Son, your mother loves you, but she felt as if her cause was more important."
"More important than her son?" said Hiccup.
"It's a long and complicated issue, but rest assured she had her reasons," said Stoick.
"She clearly does care about you, Hiccup," said Astrid. "I mean, she was there at Louge Town when we set off, and she did say you."
Hiccup remembered that incident, he didn't see her face, but he knew that someone stopped Smoker before he could arrest him.
"I guess," Hiccup sighed.
Stoick then looked at everyone. "I'm pleased to see that my son has chosen his crew carefully. All of you are experts in your fields, and all of you are strong fighters. Also, see that you've been getting stronger, but I warn you, if you wish to enter the New World going to have to be even stronger than you are now. There is a reason why no one before Roger was able to conquer the Grand Line."
"We can do it, Dad," said Hiccup.
Stoick smiled. "Well, no matter what happens, proud of you, son, don't forget that."
Hiccup looked at him, speechless. "Thanks, Dad."
Stoick then rose to his feet. "It's about time that I head out."
"Already?" said Astrid.
"Believe me, I would like to spend more time with my son and get the chance to do all that you do even better, but I'm needed elsewhere. If the gods are with us, we will meet again."
"And we look forward to it," said Toothless.
"In the meantime, take care of my son or else you have made an answer to," Stoick warned.
"He doesn't exactly make it easy, you know," said Fishlegs.
"I know," Stoick laughed.
Everyone was back on the deck and watched as Stoick and his crew left on their ship, waving them goodbye.
Gobber stood beside Stoick and frowned. "You didn't tell him about Ace?"
"No, because I know that you would jump into danger to save him," said Stoick.
"He's not a little kid anymore, Stoick."
"I know, but I only have one son in danger, and I don't want to put the other in danger as well."
"You know your dad is a lot nicer than I expected, even with all those threats," said Astrid.
"He can be gentle if he wants to be; he just doesn't want to be," Hiccup joked.
"He's certainly as strong as they say, perhaps even stronger," said Toothless.
"You think we'll meet him again?" Fishlegs asked.
"Anything is possible in the seas," said Hiccup.
They then carried on with their adventure, not knowing what awaited them. This
