Hellboy slipped out of his room not looking guilty at all, as if he hadn't been outside spying on the two women. He had felt embarrassed when they had waved at them. If his skin could've gotten any redder, it would have. He ignored the agents passing by them as he headed to the infirmary to talk to Abe. He stopped at the entrance of the infirmary, hesitating for a moment. But when he heard a noise, he stepped in.

He saw Abe awake and Maizie standing in front of him. He ran to them when he realized that she was falling backwards. His knees skidded to a stop just as he caught the woman. As soon as his arms were around her, she began shivering.

"Myers?" Hellboy called out to her.

Maizie's eyes shifted from Abe to Hellboy.

"H-he's d-dead," Maizie's teeth chattered. Her body shook as if she was cold but instead was in shock.

"Abe?" Hellboy looked up to the watery container that Abe hovered in. He was confused. "Abe's fine, Myers."

Maizie shook her head, "No-not Abe."

Maizie put a hand on his shirt and clenched it. Grey smoke appeared from under her and enveloped them. They disappeared as Abe watched. On the other end of the Bureau, smoke appeared in the library. As soon as the smoke dissipated, Hellboy looked up.

"The Professor," Maizie whispered at the same time as Hellboy spotted his father in his chair, slumped. A pool of blood puddled by his feet.

Hellboy laid Maizie on the floor and got up. He went to his father just as a door opened behind them. Maizie and Hellboy didn't notice the agent walking in only to walk out after seeing the sight. An alarm rang.

Maizie laid on the floor, her shivers becoming less and less. She watched Hellboy pull Broom to his chest. She couldn't hear the words coming from his mouth. It was like the world was silent for her. The darkness began to tinge her vision. A hand dropped on her shoulder, and she turned her head to look at Liz. She couldn't hear Liz. Only see her lips move. Liz set Maizie's head in her lap as Maizie finally passed out.

Liz watched as Maizie closed her eyes. She looked up at Hellboy. Tears stung her eyes as she could hear his mutterings.

"I wasn't here. You died alone…"

Three Days Later

The rain fell since the day Professor Broom was discovered dead in his office library. Maizie followed the casket as it led to a hearse to be set in its final resting place. Her hair piled up into a neat bun, the white streaks bright against the black. She let the umbrella fall to her side as she watched the casket get put into the hearse by Manning and other agents. The rain drenched her immediately. She couldn't feel the rain in that moment. Liz walked up beside her, pulled the umbrella from her hand, shook it, then lifted it over them.

"It wasn't your fault," Liz spoke.

Maizie turned her head to the other woman. "That doesn't make it any easier."

"I know," Liz whispered. "Come on, let me take you back." Liz tugged at Maizie's arm and together they turned away from the hearse.

"Where's Hellboy?" Maizie asked as they walked to one of the cars waiting for them.

Liz pointed to one of the buildings close by, "He's on one of those roofs."

Maizie looked in the direction Liz indicated and through the rain she could see a figure hunched over on a roof.

Liz tugged her arm again, "Let's go. He'll be back later."

Maizie followed Liz, tearing her eyes away from Hellboy. They got into the waiting car and left to the Bureau.

Later that evening.

Maizie left the conference room that Manning had gathered agents into. She had gotten angry at Manning, but luckily, he cut the meeting short otherwise she would have gotten fired. Without Broom there, her job could be at jeopardy. She went in search for Hellboy and Liz, but only found Liz in the infirmary. She walked in.

Liz looked up, "Hey."

Maizie nodded at Liz in reply then looked at Abe. He was upside down attempting to solve a Rubik's cube. She cocked an eyebrow at him. Abe looked at her.

"Three decades and I've only got two sides," Abe said as he showed her the cube.

"Two? I can get three in an hour," Maizie said with a small smile before she turned to Liz.

Liz snickered.

"Would you go find Hellboy? I've got some news from the meeting," Maizie asked Liz.

"Yeah, I've got to talk to him anyways."

Liz got up and left the rom. Maizie took the chair Liz had been sitting in.

"How are you?" Abe asked.

Maizie looked up at him and shrugged, "As okay as anyone can be I suppose."

Abe hummed in reply.

"What happened to me that night? The vision? I don't get those." Maizie asked. That question had been on her mind for the last three days ever since she woke up.

"I've been wondering that myself as well. Would you allow me to find out?" Abe asked as he put a hand on the glass.

Maizie hesitated. She let her hair down from the bun. It tumbled in waves over one shoulder as she considered his offer.

"I won't hurt you," Abe said.

She looked at him. "It's not that. I know you won't. It's just…the last time we…connected for a lack of a better term, I got images of Broom being murdered. I'm not sure…I don't want…-" Maizie sighed as she tried to figure out what to say.

"I cannot guarantee you won't see anything but if we figure it out now, then maybe it'll be useful or better managed in the future."

Maizie nodded in agreement. She closed her eyes as she laid it on the glass, waiting for the images. But when none came, she opened her eyes. She watched Abe as he gleaned whatever he found through his hand. In the next few moments, Abe finally opened his eyes. Blue eyes met green.

"Well?" Maizie asked.

"It seems you have premonitions, the ability to see the past and future. It looks as if it bloomed late instead of when you were younger."

"Premonitions?"

Abe nodded.

"How is that going to be helpful?"

Abe replied, "I don't know. It is similar to mine so perhaps later we can train, and I can show you how it works."

Maizie sighed, "Sure."

Liz and Hellboy walked in catching Abe and Maizie's attention. They turned to them.

"What did Manning what?"

Maizie stood up, "He wants this over with. We're heading over to Moscow later tonight. However, Manning states that he's in control, he's not keen on having you along for the ride. He didn't want you to go at first, but I convinced him."

Hellboy sighed in annoyance regarding Manning.

"There's one other thing," Maizie said. "He said that if we don't wrap this up, he's shutting this place down for good."
