Link: ...I can tell you've been following me... Whoever you are, you won't catch me off guard... Show yourself.

Kellam: ...Um, Link... Are you talking to me?

Link: What?... Where is that voice coming from?

Kellam: Do you think you could put your weapon away? You're... kinda putting me on edge.

Link: ...I don't know what you are, but I'm not leaving until I find out.

Kellam: 'What I am'? I... It's me... Kellam.

Link: I don't know anyone by that name.

Kellam: Ah... Well, that's not too surprising. I tried introducing myself to you a few times, but you never seemed to notice me.

Link: ...How can I be expected to notice you if I can't even... see you?

Kellam: Oh, gosh... I'm right in front of you, and you still can't see me?

Link: ...No, I can't... I can hear you, and I can feel your... armor? How strange...

Kellam: Well, I've always lacked presence compared to others. I tend to blend in with my surroundings so much that most people don't even realize I'm nearby unless I speak up.

Link: You must be a... ghost... or a spirit, maybe.

Kellam: Hah! Wouldn't that be something!

Link: ...You aren't then?

Kellam: Oh, sorry. I thought you were telling a joke... I do enjoy a good ghost story, but I don't put much stock in that sort of thing.

Link: Hmm... Maybe this world is different in that regard. Here, take a look at this...

Kellam: A glass bottle?... Wow, that's a neat purple flame you have inside it.

Link: This is actually a ghost from my home world of Hyrule. It's called a Poe... A spirit of concentrated hatred that clings to the living world.

Kellam: G-Golly... I don't know if there are any ghosts or ghouls in Ylisse, but I suppose this proves that they're out there somewhere.

Link: ...So... you really aren't some... supernatural being, then?

Kellam: N-No, definitely not. I like to think I'm a pretty ordinary guy if you don't factor in the whole... disappearing act.

Link: You say that other people can see you, though... right?

Kellam: Yes. Most people have trouble spotting me at first, but you're the only person I've ever met that's told me I'm completely invisible.

Link: This conversation has been very... strange... but also enlightening.

Kellam: Enlightening?

Link: I can recall several instances in battle where an arrow or magic spell had been heading toward me... only to be intercepted by... seemingly nothing.

Kellam: ...Oh...

Link: At the time, I believed that an ally had used some type of wind spell to deflect the enemy's attacks, but... it was you... wasn't it?

Kellam: Yeah... That was probably me. I have a habit of trying to protect the other Shepherds. Thanks to my giant set of armor, I think I'm well suited for that role.

Link: *sigh* This is giving me a headache...

Link: ...Ow... W-What the heck did I just run into?

Kellam: Sorry, Link! Very, very sorry!

Link: Hold on... Kellam?

Kellam: Y-Yeah, I had my back turned and didn't notice you walking towards me until it was too late...

Link: Don't feel bad, then. It's not your fault.

Kellam: This could really be a problem, though. For you in particular, I'm practically a safety hazard.

Link: This might sound... inconsiderate, but after we met, I kind of... forgot you existed... I'll need to do a better job of looking out for you.

Kellam: Oh, that's quite all right, Link. I don't take any offense. You can't see me, after all... How would you even go about finding me?

Link: ...Hmm... Well, I could... try to listen more. You still make noise when you move around, and I can hear you talking, obviously.

Kellam: I'm not sure how well that would work out in practice. Just now, I was standing here admiring the sunset. I wasn't talking or moving, so I'm afraid there wasn't anything for you to hear in the first place.

Link: ...That's true...

Kellam: I'm also a pretty quiet guy in general. You're welcome to try it, but... I don't think this will work very well.

Link: ...You're probably right... I'll keep thinking on it and get back to you, then.

Kellam: W-Wait! You shouldn't be the one trying to fix this. I've known for a long while that I should be more... assertive and... have a bigger presence, I guess. Now that it's having a negative effect on you, though, I think it's time that I honestly start addressing this.

Link: Your tendency to go unnoticed... Do you dislike it?

Kellam: In all honesty... I do have a bit a pride when it comes to that. Compared to the others here, I don't have anything else in the way of talents or skills. So it is nice to have something that sets me apart, especially since it helps me survive. It's just unfortunate that what sets me apart also makes me go unseen by everyone at the same time... It's... It feels like a cruel joke at times...

Link: I see...

Kellam: With all that said, I do often think about how I'd feel if I was acknowledged more. My efforts often go unthanked, and when my friends are getting together to have some fun, my company is usually an afterthought... I don't have any ill will toward you, Link, but... I'll admit that I am a bit jealous of you.

Link: ...Why would you be jealous of me?

Kellam: Despite both of us being rather reserved, you always seem to have other people flocking to you. It doesn't even look like you have to initiate with them much. You're just that popular, I suppose!

Link: Now that I think about it... you aren't wrong. There are some people in this army that never seem to leave me alone.

Kellam: I certainly can't blame them. You are really easy to talk to. Seeing how simple it is for you, though... It does make me wish my circumstances were different.

Link: ...My intention isn't to downplay your own problems... but there are times when I wish I was more like you.

Kellam: Seriously? In what way?

Link: Well, You said it yourself... I'm popular... for some reason. Being able to fade out of existence whenever I want to be alone? I'd use an ability like that pretty often, I'm sure.

Kellam: Huh... I guess the grass is always greener.

Link: Hey there, Kellam. What are you up to?

Kellam: Oh! Hi, Link. You startled me. Right now, I'm... Wait a second...

Link: ...

Kellam: You started a conversation with me...

Link: ...

Kellam: Y-You can see me!

Link: Yeah... I can.

Kellam: ...Well, don't keep me in suspense... How'd you do it?!

Link: It's thanks to this...

Kellam: Is that a... magnifying glass? It's pretty creepy looking, isn't it?

Link: This is an ancient relic from Hyrule, my homeland. When you peer through the glass, you're able to see things that would appear invisible to the naked eye.

Kellam: This even works on people?

Link: Yeah... all sorts of things... Walls, floors, objects, creatures...

Kellam: You aren't looking through the lens at the moment, though.

Link: Right... Well, once I confirmed that I was truly able to see you, I had an idea... I went to Miriel, we discussed my plan, and she was able to craft this for me.

Kellam: Oh, I was wondering why you were wearing that. It looks like a pair of glasses, but only for one eye.

Link: Using the glass from the Lens of Truth, Miriel made me this... monocle, I guess you could call it. Now I can see you with no problem... Well, kind of... It does put a small strain on my energy when I use it. I won't put it on unless we're interacting or something... but it's better than nothing.

Kellam: You said that magnifying glass was a... an 'ancient relic'? Are you going to get in trouble for removing the glass like that?

Link: ...Oh, yeah... I didn't think about that...

Kellam: ...

Link: Eh, it's no big deal... Allowing me to finally see my friend? That's the most important use that this old thing has ever had.

Kellam: Wow... I'm amazed you actually found a solution to this... You didn't have to go through all that trouble.

Link: No, I didn't have to... but I wanted to. I said it before; you're my friend... I want to be able to see you and talk to you like I can with everyone else... After hearing about your struggles, I think you need someone that will give you a little extra attention.

Kellam: Gosh, Link... Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I'm really lucky to have a friend like you.

Link: ...There is something I have on my mind, though... The invisible objects and creatures that the Lens of Truth enabled me to see? I encountered most of those in the Shadow Temple, and I imagine that the Sheikah used some type of forbidden magic to achieve this effect... Are you sure you aren't some kind of shadow phantom, Kellam? Maybe you have a secret gift in dark spell casting like Henry... and you don't even realize it...

Kellam: N-No! I really don't! I'm just a man in a large suit of armor who also has trouble standing out... even though I'm the one of the tallest people here...

Link: I wonder about that...

Kellam: C-C'mon, Link! I'm being honest!

A/N:

Why can't he see Kellam? I dunno. Link's from a completely different world, so that's my excuse. I thought it'd make for fun reason to bring in the lens of truth.
