Panne: If you wish to keep your life, outsider, you had best explain yourself and do it quickly.
Link: H-Hey, easy! I was just... exploring this lake... That's all.
Panne: You were submerged for nearly three full minutes. I was certain you had drowned.
Link: ...Oh, yeah... I guess that would look pretty concerning...
Panne: Do you have a death wish? Or do you simply lack any semblance of intelligent thought?
Link: It's not like that... Right now, I'm wearing special clothing that allows me to breathe underwater.
Panne: Yes, I see you have on a blue outfit that is, surprisingly, less of an eyesore than what you usually wear.
Link: ...Guess you aren't a fan of green...
Panne: Wearing this blue hat and tunic allows you to breathe underwater? Indefinitely? You would have me believe this?
Link: ...Yeah, that's right.
Panne: You are an utter fool. How would a simple change of clothes have such an effect? It is the most nonsensical lie that I have ever been told.
Link: Well, there's strange stuff all around us... It just depends on who you ask... I mean, take you for example.
Panne: Is that an insult, outsider?
Link: N-No, no! I'm saying that you use a magic stone to transform into a large rabbit... I think that's pretty unusual, too, that's all.
Panne: ...I suppose magic clothing is not so strange a concept, all things considered.
Link: I couldn't tell you how it works, honestly... but have you ever seen someone hold their breath that long? I definitely can't.
Panne: If you are not lying, then you were never in any danger, yes?
Link: Right... I could have stayed in there for as long I wanted, I suppose.
Panne: That also means that it was pointless of me to jump into the lake and attempt to save you. My fur is soaked, and my patience has worn thin...
Link: S-Sorry!... I should have told someone about this beforehand... I really need to stop assuming that all this stuff I do is normal... Still, thanks for caring enough to try and help. I know you don't place much trust in others, so... that means a lot.
Panne: I care not for your personal well-being, outsider. I merely recognize your skill in battle and do not wish for this army to lose a valuable asset.
Link: Ah... makes sense... Hey, I caught a big fish while I was swimming around in there... I could cook it for us to eat later if you want... Might help make up for this misunderstanding, maybe?
Panne: Taguels are herbivores. I will not eat that fish, and I do not desire your company.
Link: ...Oh...
Panne: There is no need to make amends. Forget that this event transpired, and speak of it to no one. That is all I require.
Link: ...Okay... I can do that.
Panne: I am finished speaking with you, strange man-spawn. You may continue to waste your time floundering about this lake. It no longer concerns me.
Link: ...

Panne: You.
Link: ...Hey, Panne... Something the matter? You don't usually talk to me much...
Panne: That is because I avoid you. I find you strange and unsettling.
Link: Geez... You don't mince words, huh?... I don't mind, though. It can be... refreshing to talk with people who get straight to the point.
Panne: As you said, I do not mince words, and I have not come here to discuss my manner of speech. I have a question for you. Assuming your answer is acceptable, I will then leave and continue to avoid you.
Link: ...And if it's not acceptable?
Panne: You may find yourself in harm's way.
Link: ...I... see... Well, ask away, I guess.
Panne: There is a pair of rabbit ears atop your head. Why?
Link: ...Ah... They aren't real or anything... I can take them off, see?
Panne: That is not what I asked. Real or fake, you are no rabbit, so I wish to know why you possess them. Are you mocking my kind with such a display?
Link: N-No, definitely not... Where I come from, there are masks and headwear that can grant special abilities... This one's just a hood, but it gives me enhanced speed while I'm running around... It makes my morning jogs a little more enjoyable. That's why I had it on.
Panne: ...It is similar to the blue tunic that allowed you to breathe in that lake.
Link: ...Yeah... Exactly.
Panne: I did catch a glimpse of your... 'morning jog'. Your running speed was markedly superior when compared to the average man-spawn, so I cannot find fault in what you say.
Link: Y'know... With my bunny hood on, I might be able to keep up with your larger form... You should join me for some running exercises sometime... I-If you want to, I mean... It might be fun, right?
Panne: ...No.
Link: ...Heh... Blunt as always... All right, I'm gonna get back to it, then.
Panne: Wait.
Link: ...Yeah?
Panne: How long have you resided in this world, man-spawn?
Link: How long?... Hmm, I haven't been keeping track, but... I'd say less than a year? I was transported here only a few months before you joined us... Why?
Panne: I am the only taguel you have ever seen, I assume? You have come across no others?
Link: ...Sorry, but no... I haven't.
Panne: How curious... You are most confusing, green man.
Link: ...Uh... What do you mean?
Panne: Enough. You have given me the answers I seek. We have no need to converse any further. Farewell.
Link: ...I'm confusing? I could say the same for her...

Link: If it's a bother, you can say so, Panne... but would you mind if I sit with you while I clean my gear?
Panne: ...Why do you seek me out, man-spawn? I have only acted coldly towards you. Still, you make an effort to include me in your mundane activities. You could tend to your gear with any one of the humans in this camp and they would be more welcoming of you than I.
Link: ...Hmm... I don't know... I think it's because you have this calming aura about you.
Panne: Pah! Me? Calming? Have you lost your head, outsider?
Link: No... I'm serious.
Panne: By all means, explain yourself. It will be entertaining to hear what imaginative lies you create to justify that claim.
Link: Look... Do you find certain people... tiring to be around?
Panne: Certainly. Most humans would fit such a description. There are some, like the poet or the dullard who calls himself 'Teach', that are especially so.
Link: Right... I don't dislike those types of people, or anything... but if I'm trying to relax, there are specific people that make that easier, for sure.
Panne: If you desire peace and quiet, you need only clean your gear in solitude.
Link: Sure, I could do that... Most of the time, that is what I do... but there's a unique feeling of calmness that I get when I'm with someone else, though.
Panne: You desire both silence and the company of another? That is contradictory, green man.
Link: No, it isn't... Look at the two of us. We're talking now, but... we don't need to. We're the sort of people that don't need to hold a conversation to enjoy each other's presence... Don't you agree?
Panne: ...You genuinely find my presence calming?
Link: Yeah... Without a doubt.
Panne: Tch! How irritating!
Link: H-Huh?...
Panne: I cannot seem to figure you out, green man... The mere sight of a taguel is enough to give any human pause. They all fear me... If they do not show it in their hatred, they show it in their movements. And if not in their movements, then in their quickened heartbeat and heavy breathing.
Link: ...I'm sure some people can't help but react that way... An involuntary reflex.
Panne: That mistrust and hesitance... As you say, it is not always intentional, but it is always present. Even those that would welcome me and claim that I am just another ally... They, too, fall victim to these instincts... You, however, do not.
Link: Hmm?... Me?
Panne: You are the first being that I have met since I was a child who I could not detect any traces of fear from. Even in my beastly form, you remain unphased.
Link: ...Wow... I never would have thought that.
Panne: In the past, I have referred to you as 'unsettling' and 'confusing' among other unpleasantries. This abnormal reaction to my presence is exactly why.
Link: I wasn't aware that I was treating you so differently, but... that is how you want to be treated, right?
Panne: I am well-aware of my hypocrisy, outsider. When I finally come across a human that looks upon me as he does his own kind, I answer with hesitance and fear of my own. It is shameful of me...
Link: Hey, I get it... No need to feel bad, just... try to do better going forward, yeah?
Panne: Now that my inner thoughts have been laid bare, I will ask once more... What is the reason for your lack of fear? You claim that I am the only taguel you have seen, but were you truthful?
Link: No, I wasn't lying... If I had to guess... I bet it's because I'm used to other races looking different from my own. The taguel wouldn't look all that out of place in Hyrule, if you ask me.
Panne: Your world is home to other shape-shifters?
Link: ...Hmm... Not 'shape-shifters', but... we have the zoras, who are fish-like people... and gorons, who are... giant rock people, I guess... I also know a talking owl...
Panne: Rock people?... How bizarre.
Link: Heh... Yeah, those guys are something else... After you've endured a bone-crushing, group hug from a tribe of gorons, I think everything else starts to become less intimidating.
Panne: ...Link... I apologize for my previous demeanor. I will do all in my power to make things right between us, for it is the way of the taguel. To start, you may enjoy my company for as long as you wish. Sit beside me, if you so choose.
Link: ...All right... You don't have to be so formal about it, though, haha.

Panne: Ah... I have found you at last.
Link: Hey, Panne... You were looking for me?
Panne: Yes. I have important matters to discuss with you. Before that, though, what are you doing with that barrel-full of carrots? Their pleasant aroma is what drew me here.
Link: ...Well... I was gonna try and surprise you, but... so much for that... See, word around camp is that you can be a pretty picky eater... I did a little asking around... and Stahl told me that you love carrots, so... I visited the farming village that's close by and bought a whole bunch of these.
Panne: These carrots are for me?
Link: Yep... Well, for the both of us, really... I know a decent carrot stew recipe, and I thought I could make it for us when we hang out... If that's okay with you.
Panne: Mmm... How amusing. I look forward to your carrot stew, green man.
Link: Great! So... what's on your mind? You had something... important to talk about?
Panne: Yes... It is of the utmost importance. I will be direct, Link. I wish to take you as my mate.
Link: ...Can you repeat that? I'm not sure I...
Panne: I wish to take you as my mate.
Link: ...Nope, I... I heard you right the first time... Uh... Right...
Panne: Do you decline this union?
Link: ...I... don't know what to say, Panne... This seems so out of the blue.
Panne: ...It seems I have misread your intentions, then... While I had already decided earlier this morning that I would make my desire known, my confidence became resolute when you presented me with your offering just now.
Link: ...The carrots?
Panne: To receive a gift of that magnitude... I falsely assumed that this was a clear indication of intimate feelings.
Link: Oh, I'm sorry... I didn't realize I was giving you that impression... It was only carrots, after all...
Panne: The fault is mine. Do not take it upon yourself.
Link: ...A-All right...
Panne: Now that we have cleared up this misunderstanding, I will retract my proposition. Let us continue as we have and dwell on this no longer.
Link: Wait... Could you... help me understand your thoughts a bit more?
Panne: What is there to explain?
Link: I just... I just thought you put up with me more than anything. I had no idea you felt so strongly.
Panne: I have grown attached to you and the tranquility that you provide. What you once described to me... This comforting peace between two beings that requires no idle chatter or meaningless flattery... I now see the value of this.
Link: I understand... I value our closeness, too.
Panne: Perhaps even more alluring is the way you act toward me, which I have already explained to you at length.
Link: ...How I'm not afraid of you?
Panne: Yes. I have finally found another who completely accepts who and what I am. There is no other quality in a mate that I crave more.
Link: ...Mmm... Well, I... get where you're coming from now... Although, I'm surprised how composed you are about all this... I took you for the more private type... Someone who wouldn't show their vulnerable side so freely.
Panne: I will agree with you. Taking initiative in affectionate matters and to this degree is, perhaps, unlike me. However... I have seen the lustful glances that women sneak at you. You are physically fit and of ripe age for taking a lover, yes?
Link: ...I... I guess?
Panne: I would not dawdle while another female claims you for herself. When opportunity knocks, the taguel will seize it. I intended to do the same, that is all.
Link: I don't think I'm ready to... 'take a mate' as you put it... but maybe we could take things a little slower?
Panne: You wish to strengthen our bond further before making a decision?
Link: Y-Yeah! Exactly... I do like you a lot, Panne. Whenever I have time for myself, I just... want to spend it with you... I could even see myself wanting to live the rest of my life with you, someday... I'm just not sure yet...
Panne: That is fair. Know, however, that I will not give up easily. I have resolved to win your heart, strange, green man. I long to see the day when we might visit my old warren, and I can tell you all of the taguel that I experienced as a child.
Link: That day might be closer than you think... For now, though... how about some carrot stew?
A/N:
I've mentioned in a previous chapter, but I like to keep some of the S-Supports more open-ended/slower paced for the sake of variety and if I think it makes sense for the characters. I think with Panne being the loner-type, it would seem natural for Link to want more time for their relationship to develop.
I also think having Panne confess first and unexpectedly might be out of character since she is usually pretty flustered in her real S-Supports, but I wanted to show off more of her confident and determined side. Hoping it seems believable for her.
