Link: Now... where'd I leave my... Oh...

Say'ri: Ah, good sir! Pray, pay me no mind. I need only one moment to finish this task, and I shall be out of your business... The make of this sword is breathtaking. It wouldn't do to let it decay.

Link: ...Are you... tending to my gear for me?

Say'ri: Aye, you have the right of it. If you see it fit to dismiss me, I understand. I simply desired to assist you while you partook in supper.

Link: ...No, you're fine... Thanks for doing that, but I can keep my stuff in good condition, so... you shouldn't waste your time on this in the future.

Say'ri: Fie! 'Tis no waste at all, sir! And 'tis certainly no burden upon me either.

Link: ...Well... okay...

- Scene Fade Out/In -

Link: Ugh... I spent so long finding that lady's lost chickens... I wonder if there's any food leftover from-

Say'ri: Sir! I have found you at last!

Link: ...What's up?... Were you looking for-

Say'ri: You were not present in the mess hall this eve. And so, I've prepared a light meal for you. I pray that it meets your expectations, good sir.

Link: W-What the... Say'ri, this is more than a light meal... You cooked all this?... For me?

Say'ri: Aye, and aye again. 'Tis egg fried rice and raw seafood, among other traditional dishes of my native land. I ask that you sit and eat immediately, lest you fall victim to starvation.

Link: ...This is crazy... I won't even be able to finish all this by myself... Why don't you eat with me?

Say'ri: N-Nay! I could never impose upon you, good sir!

Link: But you're not imposing... I'd like to have you eat with me... If you don't, then some of your hard work will go to waste.

Say'ri: If... If you permit me this, then... I accept.

-Scene Fade Out/In-

Link: *yawn*... Mmm... Looks like it'll be a nice day... All right, time to-

Say'ri: Good morning, sir!

Link: S-Say'ri?... How did you find me out here?

Say'ri: 'Twould be Robin. When I inquired of your whereabouts, they explained to me this reckless habit of yours.

Link: ...What reckless habit?

Say'ri: I have the utmost respect for you, sir, but I must speak it plain; sleeping in forests on the branches of trees? Alone at that? 'Tis an act that displays great carelessness.

Link: ...If you're worried about my safety, don't be... I've never been ambushed while sleeping before, and I sleep in my tent most nights, anyway.

Say'ri: Fie, I've cause aplenty to worry about you! Just because it has not happened does not mean it cannot. If you truly believe your actions to be acceptable, then you are more naïve than I'd realized.

Link: You have a point, but... *sigh* So you won't let me sleep out here anymore?... Nothing will persuade you?

Say'ri: If you must do this, then I ask that you abide by my conditions.

Link: ...And those would be...?

Say'ri: On nights that you wish to sleep away from our camp, you must inform me of this first.

Link: Okay, that's fine.

Say'ri: You must also permit me to stand watch nearby until you wake.

Link: ...You can't be serious.

Say'ri: Glad to see you have awoken, sir!

Link: Gah!... What?... How do you keep finding me?

Say'ri: Far be it from me to reprimand you, but I must have a word... Prithee, tell me! Why did you not ask for my aid before you wandered off last night? Have I wronged you in some way, sir? Mayhap you do not trust in my resolve, in my capability to defend you?

Link: ...I didn't ask you for help because you that's unnecessary... We already have a schedule for night watch rotations... I'm not gonna ask you to stay awake all night just to watch one other person... It's unreasonable.

Say'ri: I am no stranger to guarding my comrades, sir. I stood guard for you last night, and I shall do so again the next time, the next after that, and all that follow.

Link: ...Wait... so you did stay awake all night?

Say'ri: Aye. I never fail to keep a watchful eye on you as night begins to fall. In this instance, I saw that you were heading into the woods. I dared not disturb you, so I simply followed and began my watch unbeknownst to you.

Link: ... I don't get you, Say'ri... Why are you doing all this?... It's not just this night watching stuff... You're always going out of your way for me... You're coddling me, and I don't understand why.

Say'ri: Do you even need ask, sir? You have been chosen by Naga! You are her messenger! The divine dragon's champion sent to save us in her stead! You saved your country from a terrible evil, and you will save ours just the same, I am sure of it. I give my life to your cause, sir... I am yours to use in any way that you require.

Link: ...No... I don't want that... I have no plans on 'using' you.

Say'ri: Do you doubt me once more, sir? I beg of you, trust in me! I will aid you to the best of my ability, I swear it.

Link: ...You're taking all of this way too seriously... and you need to stop putting words in my mouth.

Say'ri: What say you, then? Pray, speak your mind freely and without restraint.

Link: Yeah, Naga brought me here... but I don't want to be treated like some celebrity. There are people in this army who don't seem to understand this about me... I have a reputation for my deeds, but I'm a normal person underneath all of that... If you got to know me, you'd see this.

Say'ri: Even so, you are still Naga's chosen. We all fight to see peace return to this world, and you will be more instrumental than I in bringing this desire to fruition. Your life is of greater value than my own... 'Tis the truth of the matter.

Link: I disagree... very strongly... Even if you're right, I don't care... I don't want your 'life'... I don't want a servant that follows me around and looks for things to help me with... I want you to do what you want.

Say'ri: I... I cannot! My greatest desire is to help you, sir! Naga herself has brought you to us... I shan't simply ignore you.

Link: ...All right, fine... I have a request for you, Say'ri.

Say'ri: Anything, sir! Name it and it shall be done!

Link: I order you to treat me like a normal person. Forget about my connection to Naga... I order you to stop doing favors for me unless I ask you first.

Say'ri: You cannot expect me to follow such a demand!

Link: You can't do it?... That's a shame... After you begged me to trust in your ability, too... When you talked about how devoted you were to Naga's chosen warrior, I figured you were more committed than this... I'm disappointed.

Say'ri: Mercy... I did not anticipate this manipulative side from an exalted being like you, sir. You are most devious...

Link: ...Say'ri, there' something on my mind... Something I want to ask you about, if you're okay with it.

Say'ri: Of course, sir! I shall answer as best I can.

Link: I know that you want to help me since I'm 'Naga's chosen' as you put it... You've made that very clear... but what about outside of that?... Do you have an opinion of me as a person?

Say'ri: ...Why do you ask of this?

Link: Well... you've done a great job of giving me space lately... You only help me around camp when I ask you first... and I appreciate that.

Say'ri: However?

Link: However... when I ask you about more... casual stuff... If you wanna hang out and talk about our interests... things like that... you always say that you're busy or that you have plans already.

Say'ri: ...

Link: At first, I thought you just weren't into light-hearted conversation... but then I asked if you'd be willing to teach me about Chon'sin's famous tea, and you still didn't budge ... I thought for sure you'd go for that.

Say'ri: I was hoping you wouldn't catch onto this, in truth.

Link: Is it me?... You'll do whatever I ask of you if it works toward saving the world, but spending time as friends is... unappealing, I guess?

Say'ri: Nay, sir. You misunderstand.

Link: ...What is it, then?

Say'ri: I make a deliberate effort to avoid socializing with you. I fear I will distract you from your task in this realm.

Link: ...Distract me?... How would you do that?

Say'ri: You have already given up much by coming here, good sir, and you did not come here to make friends. You answered Naga's call to save lives... Why waste time on a simple woman such as I?... I would not dare to impede you with wishes of camaraderie and levity.

Link: Geez, Say'ri... You really are too grave about this.

Say'ri: P'raps I am. If you think me in the wrong, then what is right? What would you have me do?

Link: I'd like you to be yourself... Not a servant of Naga... just Say'ri.

Say'ri: To conduct oneself so thoughtlessly around Naga's chosen... 'Twould be hubris itself!

Link: Listen to this... In my home world, I'm friends with the princess of the land, Zelda... As royalty, she was assigned a capable guardian that never leaves her side... Impa of the ancient Sheikah tribe... From what Zelda tells me, Impa took her job extremely seriously. She was Zelda's most trusted ally who helped with whatever was asked of her.

Say'ri: I imagine she felt a great deal of pride and duty for her position.

Link: She certainly did... Though they spent so much of their lives beside each other, Zelda said that her protector had a hard time showing her true self... Even after Impa eventually started to open up, Zelda was sad that it took them so long to become real friends.

Say'ri: ...You are likening me to this 'Impa'.

Link: Yep... I'd very much like to see more of who you really are Say'ri... I know that you're fiercely devoted to the good of the world... After seeing how readily you gave yourself to me, I feel like I know so much about you... but so little at the same time... and I wish I knew more.

Say'ri: Would that I could let my guard down, sir... It simply doesn't feel appropriate, however.

Link: It's all right... I can't force you to or anything... but I still wish you'd try to treat me more like everyone else does... You're always calling me 'sir', but that feels so formal... Just call me 'Link'.

Say'ri: ...Sir Link?

Link: Just 'Link', please.

Say'ri: A-Aye... Link, then.

Link: ...And just so you know... If you ever wanna show me that tea sometime, invitation's always open... I've never had tea before, y'know... I'm a milk drinker... I probably don't know what I'm missing.

Say'ri: ...If it please you, Link, this time I will not back down. I will do my best to make your first taste of Chon'sin tea one worth remembering... and I promise that you will see, at least, a small glimpse of my true self.

Say'ri: Well met, Link.

Link: Hey... Thanks for coming.

Say'ri: What shall we partake in today, hmm? Do you wish to continue practicing swordplay? You have taken well to the style of my country's sword masters, but without your shield, you are still uneasy. There is much for you to learn yet.

Link: Mmm... Sorry, but not this time.

Say'ri: I see. P'raps you would join me for tea instead?

Link: ...That also sounds great, but maybe it can wait until later tonight... The reason I wanted to meet with you was to talk about... the future.

Say'ri: What have you on your mind, friend? Anything you feel the need to share, I would hear it.

Link: ...After we stop Grima... After we save the world... you'll be leading Chon'sin, right? You're the princess, so...

Say'ri: Aye. With the passing of my parents and Yen'fay, the role shall fall to me... When next I return to my home, I will be made queen. Then, I shall begin my next journey; cleansing my land of the destruction that Walhart has brought upon us.

Link: And I know you will... Your people are in good hands.

Say'ri: And you, Link? Thanks to your efforts, Hyrule knows peace and this world will soon follow. Will you transition to a life of tranquil days among friends? Naga knows you have assuredly earned it.

Link: ...I... don't know if I want to go back anymore...

Say'ri: Ah... Will you seek out a new cause to fight for? Though one land may be freed of it, evil will always be present. I doubt you will need search far before you find that wretchedness once more.

Link: ...No, it's not that either... I think that I want to go to Chon'sin with you.

Say'ri: ...Truly?... I would not dare wrong you by denying such a request. However... I feel I must ask what your intentions are. If you wish to assist with the rebuilding effort, I would accept your help, of course. Or do you seek a position in our military as a general or battalion leader? For Naga's chosen hero, I fear both offers are beneath you, but... I shan't question your judgement.

Link: Those... aren't quite what I have in mind.

Say'ri: Pray, speak it then, Link. If it is within my power to grant, it shall be done.

Link: I... have an idea of how you'll react to this, but... what I want is to be with you... I'd like to court you, if you'd accept that.

Say'ri: C-Court me?!... An exalted being and I? 'Twould be blasphemous! Friendship is one thing, but... love?... 'Tis another entirely!

Link: Yeah... That's what I expected... Look, Say'ri... Even if you call me 'Naga's chosen' or her 'messenger' or whatever... When all this fighting ends, what am I then?... The task that Naga gave me will be done with, so I won't be her 'champion' anymore.

Say'ri: ...P'raps not, but I...

Link: I know it's tough for you to think that way... You always remain strong in what you believe is right, and I love that about you... but I'd like to know you're really feeling... If you honestly aren't interested in me, then I can accept that... What I can't accept is being apart from you just because of some made-up 'obligation' that you've put on yourself.

Say'ri: ...Mercy... You honor me beyond words. 'Twould be a blessing to live life at your side, and that is what I truly feel... but I cannot abandon my people. If we are to promise our lives to each other, know that I would not keep this union private... As the future queen of Chon'sin, taking my hand in marriage one day would mean that you will receive the title of 'King'. You would readily take on that responsibility?

Link: If it means we can be together?... Absolutely.

Say'ri: Haha! I am overcome with emotion... My answer is yes, Link. To think that I would meet a man such as you... An extraordinary man that bears such strong courage and such a noble heart? Chon'sin will welcome you with open arms, as will I.

A/N:

For this one, I tried to lean on Say'ri's reverence for "exalted beings" as she does with Tiki in their support together. Mine might feel pretty similar to that one as a result. I wish Say'ri had more supports in general to pull ideas from, but even so, I think I managed to write something decently in character.
