Cynthia: Oh my gosh... There he is... Owain was right, he does look like a legendary hero... The sword, the shield, the weird clothes and hat...
Link: …
Cynthia: Why's he laying out here in a field?... Meditating, maybe? I've heard that powerful fighters do that. It's so they can reach a state of absolute zen... or something like that?
Link: Hey there... You're Cynthia, right?
Cynthia: Y-Yes! The one and only! I apologize for disturbing your meditation, sir.
Link: You're fine... I was only cloud watching... and thinking about what we might have for dinner.
Cynthia: O-Oh, that's all? Never mind, then.
Link: I'm Link. Nice to meet you... Are you adjusting okay?... I imagine it can be suffocating for you new recruits from the future. Your first days after joining us are probably filled with people crowding you.
Cynthia: No, no! It's great! I'm so happy that I finally found you all. No problems here!
Link: ...Mmm... Good to hear.
Cynthia: I-I, um... Could I ask you- No, wait. How should I phrase this?... I need to make a good first impression, but is it okay to bombard him with demands like this? That might be rude... I'm not good with being courteous and all that, so maybe-
Link: You okay? You seem kinda tense... Take a few deep breaths if you need to.
Cynthia: S-Sorry! I'm okay, my heart's just beating pretty fast... I'm a little nervous about talking to you, I guess.
Link: ...Oh... Nervous why?
Cynthia: My friend told me about you. He said that, as a member of the Justice Cabal, I had to meet with you. He said that you're a hero from another world, and that you saved that world from evil all by yourself! Is it all true, sir?
Link: *sigh*This again... Yes, he's telling the truth, but I'm still just a normal guy... Please call me by my name, all right? And try to forget about my past... I'd prefer you treat me the same as everyone else.
Cynthia: I absolutely can't do that! Heroic deeds deserve to be celebrated! And besides... your past is what I wanted to talk to you about, actually.
Link: ...It is?
Cynthia: Of course! I want to hear all about your grand adventures. I have so many questions for you!
Link: O-Okay... What do you want to know?
Cynthia: Have you rescued a princess before? From the inside of a perilous castle?
Link: ...Yeah, I suppose I have... I've saved two princesses, now that I think about it... Though, one of them was trapped inside a big fish, and-
Cynthia: Woooow! You're exactly like a knight from one of Mother's stories!
Link: ...I'm not a knight, though...
Cynthia: Did you slay a dragon on your adventure? I bet you did, right?
Link: ...Well... Yes, a dragon that lived in a volcano.
Cynthia: Amazing! You're so cool that I'm starting to get goosebumps!
Link: ...Uh... T-Thanks... I've defeated a lot of dangerous creatures... A giant bug... A giant lizard... A giant jellyfish... A giant witch... Lots of giant things.
Cynthia: I bet they were all spectacular battles! Gosh, Link, you're just the kind of person that I want to be like! I can only hope to match your level of heroism one day!
Link: N-Nah, I'm... I'm nothing special...
Cynthia: Is it okay if I keep asking you about this stuff? I don't want to annoy you, you know?
Link: Hah, I don't think I could refuse someone so enthusiastic... Ask away.

Link: Try a wider stance from now on... With the way you were holding your spear, I could break through your guard too easily... Fix that first, and we'll work on other areas after.
Soldier: Thanks for the advice, Captain Link! I'll work hard at improving my stance, and then I'll challenge you again!
Link: ...Tch... 'Captain' he says...
Cynthia: Woo-hoo! Great job in that fight, Link! You mopped the floor with that guy. I never get tired of watching you in combat. I'm always taking mental notes, you can be sure of that!
Link: ...Thanks, but... that was more of a lesson than a fight... Winning wasn't the goal.
Cynthia: As awesome as you were, I've got a critique of my own to give you.
Link: Oh, sure... I'm always open to advice.
Cynthia: Why didn't you strike a heroic pose after you won?
Link: ...Huh?
Cynthia: You didn't even say a snappy one-liner or anything! As the victor, you earned the privilege to look cool in front of your defeated foe, but you went and totally squandered it! And I figured you'd be a natural at this since you're a hero and whatnot...
Link: I'm not used to doing that sort of thing... Could you give me an example of a... 'snappy one-liner'?
Cynthia: Sure! The next time you win a fight, say something like "Nice try, amateur, but your time is up!" See, that's a good one because time is sort of your thing, get it?
Link: ...But... I'd be embarrassed if I said that out loud.
Cynthia: *gasp* No, you wouldn't! It's the opposite of embarrassing. It's empowering!
Link: ...Saying corny lines like that is empowering?... You really think so?
Cynthia: I know so! I mean... They're empowering for me, at least... That's also why I love hearing you talk about your journey, you know. Listening to real stories of the hero saving people, and making them happy, and protecting the things they care about... It helps me believe that I can do great things, too.
Link: Well, hey... If saying silly things helps keep you motivated, who am I to judge?... Honestly, it's kinda... cute, I guess.
Cynthia: C-Cute? That's not what I'm going for at all!... I guess it's better than corny, though.
Link: Here, I've got another story for you... You remember the princess I told you about? Zelda?...When Hyrule was at its worst, she was forced into hiding and disguised herself as another person entirely... She played the part well, but was also... overly theatrical at times?... She'd speak to me in cryptic riddles and use smoke bombs to escape our meetings without being seen.
Cynthia: That sounds impressive! She knows how to keep her image sharp, it seems.
Link: Heh, yeah... I thought you might say that... I always felt she was being too dramatic, honestly... The point might have been to keep our mission as covert as possible, but I have a hunch that she was enjoying herself a little... Maybe she felt empowered by the character she was playing and the showy displays.
Cynthia: It sounds to me like Zelda would support my pursuit of looking cool. Also, I remember you telling me about how wise she is. If that's true, then maybe you're wrong about all this. Heroic poses are important!
Link: Hmm, you make a convincing case... All right, how about you give me some lessons on being cool, then?
Cynthia: Y-You mean it?! I get to teach the Hero of Time how to strike a pose?!
Link: Sure... but you're not allowed to grandstand or monologue during real battles anymore, okay? That's non-negotiable.
Cynthia: Aww, but Liiiink... That's when it's most effective!

Cynthia: Give me your report, my student! Were you able to carry out 'Operation Heroic Entrance'?
Link: Yes... I applied your teachings successfully, but... the results weren't great.
Cynthia: Oh no! What happened?
Link: You know how we had that giant, practice battle a few days ago? I thought that'd be a safe time to try this, so... I played the Nocturne of Shadow with my ocarina right as the fight started... It was epic and foreboding, just as you suggested.
Cynthia: Well done! And what about the one-liner?
Link: ...I cleared my throat and said... "The flow of time is always cruel, but I am a force even stronger still... Cross me on the battlefield, and you won't have the time to blink before I've dealt with you."
Cynthia: Woah, I just got chills from hearing that... You seriously nailed it! How could that have gone wrong?
Link: Well... Chrom and Robin kinda chewed me out... They told me to stop goofing off and to take this seriously... I felt like a child being chastised...
Cynthia: But why? They haven't yelled at me before, and I'm always making grand speeches.
Link: They probably expect that from you... I never do silly things like that, though.
Cynthia: Maybe heroic speeches aren't a good fit for you, then... Oh! You could still try that other idea we had, right? The one where you use that green, wind spell to suddenly teleport into battle and shock our enemies with your overwhelming heroism!
Link: I don't think so... That magic uses up a lot of my energy... I can't waste it on a flashy entrance.
Cynthia: *sigh* Darn... This was all a waste of time, huh?
Link: Of course not... Time you spend having fun is never a waste.
Cynthia: Did you really have fun, though? You're usually pretty quiet, and you don't show much emotion. You must have felt stupid the entire time, and I kept pressuring you into it.
Link: ...I did feel stupid, but you didn't pressure me into anything... I went along with it because you're one of my best friends, Cynthia.
Cynthia: I am?
Link: For sure... You're full of energy, love, and positivity... Hanging out with you is usually the highlight of my day.
Cynthia: Gah! Y-You can't say that kind of stuff about me! My stomach's gonna burst from all these warm, fuzzy feelings!
Link: ...Y'know, I've been mulling over an idea lately... Robin's always assigning us Shepherds into pairs when we fight... You interested in taking me on as your official tag-team partner? I might drag down your style, but I-
Cynthia: *gasp* No way! Me and the Hero of Time teaming up? Officially? And it's not just a one time thing?... Imagine all the practicing we'll get to do! Our team-up attacks, heroic backstories, entrances for two... *sigh* 'Cynthia, Heroine of Time'... That sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Or am I stealing your shtick too much?
Link: ...I'll take that as a 'yes'.

Link: Hey, Cynthia... If you want, we could eat our meal together... There's a big hill near camp... Might make for a pretty good view.
Cynthia: Oh, uh... I-I'd love to, really... But I also... I mean, I don't know if I should since... uh... Lucina! T-That's right, I haven't talked with Lucina in a while, and I thought I'd check up on her... S-Sorry...
Link: It's all good, but... You mind if I ask you something?
Cynthia: A-Ask me something?... Um... Okay.
Link: Is something wrong?... Are you feeling... normal?
Cynthia: Well... Not exactly...
Link: Was it something I did?... You seem more... unsure of yourself when we talk. Almost like you're anxious... It reminds me of when we first met... You haven't started idolizing me again, right?
Cynthia: No, no, no! It's not like that! I was obsessing over you in the beginning, but it's different now. For example, I don't stare at you for hours on end anymore! And if I do stare at you, it's for no longer than ten minutes, tops.
Link: ...Yeeeeah, but... you still seem on edge to me.
Cynthia: I'm not trying to be! I just can't stop my heart from racing when I'm around you... This is how it felt when we first met, but it's not because I'm idolizing you. It's like I said, I'm done with that.
Link: ...So the cause is something else?
Cynthia: ...Link... I'm nervous because I've fallen in love with you... and it's so scary! I've never felt these emotions before! What am I supposed to do with them?
Link: Mmm... Do you feel certain?... You're certain that you... love me?
Cynthia: I think so. I feel strongly enough that I wanted to tell you, at least... And by the way, even if you don't return these feelings, you should know that you're responsible for doing this to me!
Link: W-What'd I do?
Cynthia: I've always had this perfect image of a legendary hero that I'm chasing. I work really hard to improve, but I worry that I'll never reach my goal... But then you came along, always showering me with praise and compliments... Others see me as a wannabe hero who hasn't grown up, but you always treat me as someone capable and worthy of respect.
Link: ...I'm doing the right thing, aren't I?
Cynthia: Yes, but you can't pamper a girl like that and expect nothing to come of it! You... You make my heart melt, Link...
Link: Oh, don't worry... I was hoping for this the whole time.
Cynthia: You were hoping for me to fall in love with you?
Link: Desperately... Know that I meant every word I said to you, but my intention was to win you over by praising you as much as I could... I wanted this because I fell for you a long time ago.
Cynthia: L-Link, I can't believe this... You must be some kind of love guru! You had me wrapped around your finger!
Link: Hah ...Hardly... I'm sure I was just as lost as you... My great plan was to just keep calling you heroic and beautiful until you liked me back, I guess.
Cynthia: ...Hey, I'm sorry if I kill the mood with this, but I realized something about you, Link.
Link: ...Hmm?
Cynthia: All those stories you'd tell me of your adventure in Hyrule? I loved hearing them, and they still inspire me today, but... they made me realize that you've struggled and fought for so long. It's not fair that you've lived such a tough life.
Link: ...I suppose... but so have you... You've experienced more grief and loss than I probably ever will, and you're still so young.
Cynthia: Okay, but I have family and friends to lean on. When you were fighting for Hyrule, I bet you were so lonely!
Link: ...Where are you going with this?
Cynthia: What I'm saying is that things will be different now because we're a team. I'll support you forever... And more than that, I'm... I'm your girl now... I promise to be by your side and to show you all of my love whenever you need it, okay? You've earned that.
Link: ...Geez... And you thought I was cool... You gave me goosebumps this time...
