Walhart: ...Mmm?... Who appears before me?

Link: Hey... It's just me.

Walhart: Ahh, you... You are the one called "Link", yes?

Link: Yep... You got it.

Walhart: Splendid. I've long awaited this meeting.

Link: ...You wanted to meet with me?... For what?

Walhart: That matter can wait. I must assume that you came here in search of "The Conqueror"? Behold! You have found him. Now, state your business.

Link: ...Soup.

Walhart: Hmm?... Soup?

Link: You never show up for dinner, so... I brought you some leftovers... Soup.

Walhart: …

Link: ...Should I just set it down over here, or-

Walhart: The soup is meaningless! You will sit, for we have much to discuss!

Link: ...No need to shout... All right, what's on your mind?

Walhart: …Who are you?

Link: …What? I thought we just went over-

Walhart: Do not patronize me, child! I am not interested in your name! I demand to know who you are.

Link: ...Like... "The Hero of Time"?... My title, you mean?

Walhart: Mmm... "Hero of Time"... What feats did you achieve to earn such a title?

Link: *sigh* How many times have I told this story now?... Okay, so I saved my home world from a great evil... and I traveled through time to do it... Word of my victory must have spread pretty quickly, 'cause it wasn't long before Naga requested my help... She brought me to this world to fight for the Shepherds... I've been here for over three years, and here I am... still fighting.

Walhart: Ah, it has all become clear... You, Link, are no stranger to the grand stage of history. You leave your mark upon it, just as I have left mine. Hah! You are an individual who has distinguished himself from the rest!

Link: I... I'm not really sure what you're getting at...

Walhart: Who was it that conquered "The Conqueror"? Who witnessed the awesome might that I command and overpowered me with an even greater power of their own? Tell me who it was that met me on the battlefield with an unflinching gaze and unshakable mettle. Answer me! WHO?!

Link: ...Uh... The Ylissean Army?

Walhart: Wrong! It was you, Hero of Time!

Link: ...I guess so?

Walhart: My many conquests are great in number. Tens of thousands of men have taken up arms with the singular goal of ending my reign. Do you know what I have seen in every single challenger?... Doubt... Doubt that they have what it takes to overcome the threat that I impose... And with The Conqueror as their opponent? They were right to doubt, for they had no chance of victory from the very onset!

Link: ...You certainly don't lack confidence...

Walhart: Every man fears me. It is natural to do so... but you?... You?!

Link: ...Me?

Walhart: Even when staring down my uncompromising strength, you did not so much as hesitate... You held no fear... No doubt... You are an anomaly, Hero of Time.

Link: Yeah... Thinking back on it, I wasn't scared of you at all... and I'm certainly not now.

Walhart: I must know why. I demand an answer.

Link: ...Why I'm not afraid of you?... Well, I think it's probably because-

Walhart: Halt! Desist!

Link: Wh-What?

Walhart: Save your revelation for another time. I have something urgent I must attend to.

Link: Oh?... Is it an emergency?

Walhart: ...Soup...

Link: ...Huh?

Walhart: The soup! If left unconsumed, it will lose its warmth, you fool! I must deal with it immediately!

Link: ...Oh, right... Do you want me to go, then?

Walhart: Yes... Leave me... I will summon you here once more when I am prepared to reconvene.

Link: Walhart?... Hey, I was told you wanted to see me.

Walhart: Welcome, Hero of Time... Sit once more. Let us continue our discussion from the previous day.

Link: Sure, I remember... You wanted to know why I'm not scared of you.

Walhart: Correct. Do not keep me waiting any longer. Reveal it to me!

Link: ...Truth is... I've met a guy like you.

Walhart: Hmm? Another conqueror?

Link: Yeah... You remember how I got my title? By saving my world from a great evil?

Walhart: Yes, I recall... And?

Link: Well, to be more specific, it was actually the King of Evil... A man by the name of Ganondorf.

Walhart: ...Ganondorf...

Link: He was the cause of Hyrule's plight... An ancient, twisted evil reborn as a Gerudo warrior... He was after all three pieces of the Triforce, the power of the gods... He was already the chosen bearer of the Triforce of Power... And as the bearer of the Triforce of Courage, I guess it was inevitable that we'd clash.

Walhart: You bear a godly relic of courage?... Hmph. How very fitting.

Link: That's why you remind me of him... That suffocating presence and overbearing strength... The goddess could have given you the Triforce of Power, and no one would have batted an eye.

Walhart: Hah! As if I would accept a handout from a blasted goddess! No, I think not. A true world of peace is only created by the hands of man, and man alone!

Link: You're different in that way, at least, but having fought against you both?... It'll be hard for me to ever separate the two of you... Ganondorf was the strongest foe I've ever gone up against, and you aren't that far behind, Walhart.

Walhart: Even in the face of unprecedented danger, you did not flee. You claimed victory over the King of Evil.

Link: Yeah... I did.

Walhart: And that is why you were able to challenge me without doubt. You had already encountered and defeated an even more powerful threat beforehand. The King of Evil was able to elicit fear in you. I, however, was not.

Link: ...Well, no... I wasn't scared to fight him, either.

Walhart: Hmm? Then you possess no sense of fear in any capacity?

Link: That's not it... I'm afraid of many things... Gibdos, ReDeads, and Dead Hands... That Bongo Bongo monster was super freaky...

Walhart: Enough rambling! Get to the point, boy!

Link: This might sound strange, but... I was completely self-assured when I fought Ganondorf... I'd never felt so confident before... It was as if... as if my entire life was leading up to that moment... As if I were created for the sole purpose of taking him down... I had the ability to do so... I believed that, and I acted on that belief with clear-cut decisiveness... It's an ethereal feeling that almost seems... imaginary upon reflection.

Walhart: ...Intriguing...

Link: And then, when I walked into that castle courtyard to fight you... I felt it all over again... That same confidence, decisiveness, and sense of purpose... This will sound like I'm gloating, but I knew that I would win our battle before it had even begun... It was still a hard-fought match, don't get me wrong. I had to bust out my most powerful mask to clinch it... I was never worried, though. Not even for a second... I think I was destined to oppose you, Walhart... Fate itself was my ally.

Walhart: Hmph... I put no stock in the whims of fate... But you, Hero of Time? Your strength is overwhelmingly real.

A-Support

Walhart: ...*ahem*...

Link: Walhart?... It's rare to see you around for mealtime.

Walhart: ...Soup is on the menu tonight... To let this small pleasure pass me by would be a grave error.

Link: You're a vegetarian, aren't you? I bet a chickpea soup like this is right up your alley.

Walhart: ...Indeed.

Link: ...Do you... wanna sit with me?

Walhart: ...I shall.

Link: …

Walhart: …

Link: ...So, uh... What's new with-

Walhart: Hero of Time.

Link: Y-Yeah?

Walhart: I come to you this evening with... a plan of sorts.

Link: ...A plan, huh?

Walhart: You have spoken to me of the absolute power that governs Hyrule... The Triforce, as you call it?

Link: Yep, that's the one... It's a sacred relic that balances the world.

Walhart: This relic is composed of three triangular pieces... You hold the triangle of courage, and the King of Evil holds power, but what of the final piece?

Link: The princess of Hyrule bears it... The blessing of wisdom.

Walhart: Ha! Wisdom... It is as I speculated.

Link: You're... not thinking of getting your hands on it, are you? If so... you'll have to answer to me again.

Walhart: At ease, Hero of Time. I do not seek a baseless power born of irrelevant gods. No, what I aim for is a "Triforce" born only from the fruits of mankind!

Link: ...Now you've lost me...

Walhart: The plan is simple... We emulate this Triforce. It is our blueprint, you see.

Link: ...O-Okay?... And?

Walhart: Who embodies unwavering, stalwart courage?

Link: ...Huh?

Walhart: You know the answer, Hero of Time! Who in this world embodies the attribute of courage more than any other?!

Link: ...Is it me?

Walhart: Obviously! Next, who embodies sheer, overwhelming power?

Link: ...Probably you?

Walhart: Right again! And finally... Wisdom... Who embodies insightful, calculating wisdom?

Link: I don't know... Are you thinking of Robin?

Walhart: Hah! The natural conclusion! Now you are grasping my vision, Hero of Time.

Link: I'm really not...

Walhart: The three of us. We possess abilities beyond those of mortal men. They balance one another perfectly, just as the Triforce was designed... And so, with all this said...

Link: ...Yes?

Walhart: We no longer have need of the Shepherds. Between the three of us, Grima is nothing but a pebble on the path that we could forge. We must abandon this pointless exercise in rallying meaningless camaraderie and ascend to the greater heights that we are capable of reaching! We need no others, Hero of Time! Our triumvirate has the means to bend the world to our will! Man-made peace is ours for the taking! Now what say you?

Link: ...Pfft... That's a dumb idea.

Walhart: You... You scoff at my brilliant proposal?

Link: We're among good people here... People who are fighting toward the same future that we want... I'm not gonna turn my back on them, and there's no chance that Robin will either.

Walhart: Not even if it leads to the creation of the mightiest and most capable alliance this realm will ever bear witness to?

Link: Walhart, the three of us are already fighting together... Why do we need to abandon the Shepherds?

Walhart: It is... It is as I said! To escape the meaningless pleasantries of friendship!

Link: Well... I like that stuff... I cherish the connections I have in this world... I don't want to escape them.

Walhart: Pah! You have allowed the tactician to poison your mind with talk of bonds! I, however, grow weary of these cloyingly sweet, fairy-tale platitudes. Keep them to yourself, boy.

Link: ...You may remind me of Ganondorf, but I know that you aren't like him... Not exactly... Though your methods were much too extreme, you wanted to create a peaceful world, just the same as us.

Walhart: By uniting all nations, mankind would possess the power needed to answer back against the fell dragon... I was firm in my course of action. Those who denied my vision were brought under my heel... Though I have since been proven wrong, I once thought that subjugation was the only way.

Link: Your goal was admirable, but your actions weren't. Usually, I'd refuse to fight alongside someone who brought about so much suffering... but we need help... and you have great power, Walhart... If you're willing to use that power for good, then... I'll swallow my pride.

Walhart: You are the superior force, Hero of Time. As the being who ended my conquest, you are the one whom I follow. I will not subject myself to Robin's inane ideology of "the invisible bonds that tie us together", but my power is yours to command, Link. That much... you have earned.

Link: Hey, suit yourself... but I think you should give it a try, at least... I mean, look at us, Walhart... We're two of the strongest warriors to have ever lived... We've clashed on the battlefield multiple times... Despite all odds, we now have the opportunity to work together and learn from each other... I've gotta be honest, I think that's pretty amazing... Maybe in some crazy world, the goddess' chosen hero and the Demon King could reconcile like we have... Wouldn't that be something?

Walhart: Rrrgh! You seek my accord?! Laughable!... But...I am bound to your will... Tch! So be it. You desire my friendship? Then it is given! For your sake, I pray that you can handle it!

Link: Heh... I'll raise a glass of milk to that... Here's to a temporary partnership between The Conqueror and The Hero of Time. Bottom's up!

Walhart: ...*sigh* Cheers...

A/N:

I went in a goofier direction for the A-Support. Walhart's such an imposing character that he's almost comical, however. It's hard not to poke fun at him a little, and his lobster armor does him no favors.

Realistically, I feel like Link would not be so willing to work with Walhart given his past of conquering and invading. But I also didn't want to focus on animosity and forgiveness again, as I did in Gangrel's chapter, either. I decided on something more lighthearted.

In response to a review: I honestly never knew that Ingo and Talon aren't related. Because they look like the Mario Brothers, I guess I just assumed. Thank you for catching that!
