Two years had passed ever since Amelina met Maschenny and the two had been on good terms since then, contrary to what Amelina had thought. And while it's also not what Amelina had expected, Maschenny was actually a good older sister.
For her, anyway.
She knew that Maschenny had asked Eduan for the permission to train her (again, courtesy of gossipping maids), but thankfully it had not started yet.
And she was definitely not looking forward to it.
Enough of that, today was Amelina's big day. After countless of times gazing outside the window longingly, Eduan finally gave her the permission of going outside her living quarters.
Of course, with the condition of Miru going with her.
While it remains unknown as to why Eduan prohibited her from going outside, it kind of irks Amelina the fact that everything she does needs permission from her so-called father.
'I mean, which is more dangerous? Going outside or getting zapped by you?'
But Amelina knew she had no rights to complain, if she wanted to survive. She was just lucky that electricity doesn't work on her.
Back to reality, Miru had brought Amelina to where he had deemed safe for the girl, and possibly had put his guards down.
Which is why Amelina had managed to get away from the retainer.
Now, the small girl walks aimlessly, looking around the institute where the Khun children were taught, as what Maschenny had once told her.
"Will Amelina also go there someday?", was what Amelina asked before, out of curiosity.
But the curt answer Maschenny gave her didn't exactly made sense for the small girl.
"Probably not."
As Amelina observed her surroundings, she noticed that a lot of children, all older than her, also had blue hair and eyes.
'I guess that really matches up with his womanizer status.'
No matter how much both Eira and Miru tried to avoid the topic, Amelina knew what Eduan was doing in the nights she didn't go to bed with him (which Eduan would magically sleeping beside her every time she woke up).
Because the choking smell of perfume did not escape her attention. And she still can't comprehend as to why Eduan would bother himself sleeping in her room once he finished his 'deeds'.
Like, their room was just beside each other! Would it make any difference for him?
'Anyway, I wonder if his wives knew about me. I mean, my life is also depending on it.'
"Hey, you!"
Amelina snapped out of her thoughts as a group of (snotty, if she might add) children, all older than her surrounded her.
"Who are you? We've never seen you before.", the head of the group questioned, looming over the apathetic girl with his height.
"Uwahh, what a brat.'
"Well, if you really wanted to get in our group, you can be the errand girl!", another one added.
'When did I say I wanted to?'
"I was just looking around, but I'm satisfied now. So I'll be taking my leave, dear big brothers.", Amelina smiled sweetly as she tried to sneak away. Putting up with Eduan and Maschenny sure taught her the art of a fake facade.
"Not so fast, girlie!", the head grabbed her shoulder harshly. "If you're really a child of Khun, you wouldn't be so cowardly, aren't you!"
'Nah, I'd rather run a thousand times rather than facing this kind of hassle.', Amelina tch-ed internally.
"Of course I'm not a coward.", Amelina forced a smile.
The whole group smirked, looking at each other. "Come with us, then."
But Amelina really didn't have any say on the order as the group dragged her to who-knows-where.
Other spectators only watched in amusement except for a certain boy.
Miru is dead. Totally.
Even if he wasn't now, no doubt Khun Eduan would personally murder him later when he knew that his beloved daughter had gone missing.
'This is not like when the miss was a toddler. She was with Sir Eduan then and this time, it's the first time miss went outside! W-what do I do?!'
"Hey retainer, where's the kid?"When Miru turned to the voice, he was sure he would be dead. Totally.
The group of children stopped short in front of a forest, just near the school. Amelina couldn't understand why did they brought her here, but she guessed it must have been related to not being a coward.
"There's this rumor that this forest has this beast trapped by father long ago. So what we're having you to do is...", the leader smirked as he pushed Amelina towards the forest. "Survive 30 minutes inside the forest!"
'Oh dear, what a hassle.'
"Only if you succeed then I'll let you officially join my group!"
'I never asked you to.'
"Of course, big brother!", Amelina gave a wide smile, contradicting her inner thoughts.
'I feel like I can be a good actor now.'
Amelina knew that those kids won't listen anything she reasoned, so she walked ahead, deep into the thick forest.
'When I'm out of their sight, I'll just get out of this place in a roundabout way, away from where they are.'
Yep, it was a perfect plan for Amelina, who immediately turned to the side to get out of the forest. Except she had absolutely no idea where she was heading.
Meaning that she got lost.
"Great, I should've just ran when they dragged me back then."
After how many hours of wandering around, Amelina had decided it would be best for her to rest. Especially when her feet were blistered red, slightly bleeding. She put away her shoes, hoping to ease the pain even a little.
"I think this is the first time I ever got injured. Not even Eduan had left a scratch on me."
'Well, except for electrocuting me.'
"Will I ever get out of this place?..", Amelina mumbled, her eyes drooping.
'No, no, no. I shouldn't be so negative now!', Amelina vigorously shook her head. 'I know. Some singing would calm me down!'
Two years of dealing with Eduan and Maschenny had put a lot of stress to the little girl, as she tried her best to put up her facade. So when the stress piled up, Amelina would sang, hoping all her worries would go away.
"I was put into a trance,
by the beautiful smile on your face.
Only when you hug me warmly,
could I understand the worth of your affection."
Amelina smiled, remembering the song Eira had personally taught her. 'I didn't get to tell her yet, but this song really fits us both.'
"There's still a lot of things,
that I couldn't tell you.
I want you to always be there for me,
even if I know it's a selfish wish.
But with every step you took,
when you came to see me,
had convinced me that all my life,
I was waiting for someone like you,
to be beside me."
Only when Amelina had finished her song had she realized that her melody might have invited someone. Or rather, something.
"There's this rumor that this forest has this beast trapped by father long time ago."
"Wow, that was true?", Amelina backed away from the large beast, its sharp and pointed fangs threatening to sink into Amelina.
The helpless girl stood up, with the intention of running away. But she had forgotten about her blistered feet and fell back down again.
'Crap, at this timing?!'
But whilst Amelina were worrying over her leg condition, the beast had its claws stretched out, ready to have its meal.
'At least, I didn't die in the hands of my own father or half-sister.', Amelina chuckled dryly at the thought, making sure to not to close her eyes. She didn't want to miss the show of her own life ending, after all.
And imagine her surprise when a blur of blue came out of nowhere and kicked the beast in the head, successfully knocking it down.
'E-eduan? No..'
Only when the beast was out could Amelina see clearly the figure of a boy, with the same hair colour as hers.
'Ah, blue hair... that means...'
The girl flinched as the boy turned to her with an unamused face, staring down at her.
"Are you an idiot?"
"Huh?"
"You could've just refused when they forced you to enter this forest. Were you that desperate to join their group?"
Okay, that one irked Amelina.
It wasn't that I was desperate to join them. I was going to get away from here as soon as I lost them.", Amelina unknowingly pouted, looking down the ground. "But I got lost along the way...', the girl mumbled the last part.
The boy surprisingly let out a sigh. "Let's go. It will be dark soon."
'Wait, I didn't know I got lost for such a long time.', Amelina panicked inwardly as she gazed at the orange sky.
She was going to follow the boy when he started to walk away, but Amelina winced as she once again turned her attention to her blistered feet.
"Ouch.."
"..."
"... how bothersome. Here."
Again, Amelina was astonished as the boy crouched down, his back facing her.
"What?"
"Just get on already."
Amelina reluctantly got onto the small back as silence engulfed the both of them.
'Although he looks the same age as me, he sure is strong... being able to beat that thing and giving me a piggyback ride like this...'
Amelina's eyes drooped as exhaustions consumed her, making her fell asleep on the wet, yet warm back.
Author's note: Aaaaahhhh thank you for the hearts and comments! I was really surprised since I didn't had the intention of publishing this fic in the first place.
First of all, I'm very sure if you all find certain characters are too OOC so I don't recommend you to continue this fic if you don't like it. *sob sob*
Anyway, some chapters may change it's style to a songfic one if I feel like it (since some lyrics may refer to the situations).
Thank you for reading this and hope you enjoy it!!
