A/N: So when I initially had the idea for this story I thought it would be just about Garrett discovering that The Commissioner and Baker were having a romantic relationship. But this chapter came to me and I had to write it out. Enjoy some fun moments with Lt. Gormley ;)

MORNING MEETING

Baker, Lt. Sid Gormley, and DCPI Garrett Moore sat in the three seats across from the Commissioner discussing the latest updates that morning.

In the middle of the Commissioner responding to something Baker had asked him, Sid noticed something.

Baker looking as if she was trying to conceal a smile as she took down notes.

Which wasn't unusual in itself. She always had her "looks" for the Commissioner. Looks of disapproval, looks of reprimanding, looks of you better know what you're doing here.

But this was different.

Sid knew how much Baker respected the Commissioner.

Shoot, she'd been by his side for almost a good decade.

But his detective "spidey-senses" were up.

The Commissioner seemed different.

He was a very serious man. With a very serious job. But he had the sense that he was in a good mood.

He was joking with them that morning.

And smiling.

Sid looked back and forth between them, feeling puzzled.

"Baker, I want to re-schedule that meeting with the Cardinal because -"

She finished his sentence for him, "You've got that in-person meeting with Chief Sutton that day."

Again, not unusual. They finished each others' senteces all the time.

But as she said it and jotted down the note, he noticed her smile again.

And wait for it…was she blushing?

Sid drew in a gasp, his thoughts catching up to the realization and his eyes widened.

Everyone stopped talking in the room and looked at him.

"What is it Sid?" The Commissioner looked over at him.

"Uh, uh it's nothing. I uh thought I saw a BIG spider, booss" he spoke fast, his particularly strong NYC accent coming out.

The Commissioner chuckled, "You've stared down hardened murderers, serial killers, crazy druggies and drunks and you're telling me, you're scared of a little spider?"

Sid gulped.

He was terrible at lying. He had to cover up fast or he was going to regrettably blurt out something.

"Well uh yeah. It was hairy, Boss! Really hairy," he looked down at the carpet, pointing a finger frantically at nothing.

Baker made an "eww" face and Garrett looked nauseous.

"Ugh," he said, "I hate spiders."

The Commissioner stood up, "Well on that note, I think we are good here. Garrett, let's go down to your office so we can work on today's press conference speech."

The two of them left the room and Sid felt compelled to turn towards Baker.

"Oh…my…Gaaawd…"

Baker looked back at him.

"What? What's wrong with you, Sid?"

Lt. Gormley looked as pale as a ghost.

He tried to speak but the words wouldn't come out neatly.

"Uh look uh, Abby, it's none of my business but…" he suddenly stood up, turning his back to her for a moment.

He had to ask her. He had to.

He quickly spun on his heel, facing her as she stood up wondering what the heck had gotten into Sid.

"Are you and The Commissioner having a …ah.." he was babbling.

"A what? Sid, what is it?" she demanded.

"Are you having an affair?!"

This time it was Baker who went as pale as a ghost. Stiffening up she tried to play it off.

"I don't know what you're talking about!"

"C'mon Abigail. I was a detective too, remember? I can read it like a book 'ere. The two of you eyeballing each other in here."

Baker sighed deeply, throwing her hands in the air.

Well the jig was up.

And of all people to guess it.

"I'm right; I knew it!" Sid said triumphantly.

"Shhh!" Baker moved in towards him. "How the heck, Sid?" she shook her head wondering what their next move would be.

"Well uh I can see it, you know? I mean obviously I didn't until just now but…hey, how long's this been going on?"

"Not long. Barely a week." Baker rubbed her temples, suddenly feeling very tired and yet somewhat relieved that at least someone else knew.

It was fun sneaking around and all but it was also stressful for the both of them.

And it was taking a bit of a toll.

But now her concerns shifted to the whom that knew about her and the Commissioner.

She loved Lieutenant Gormely; he was a loyal "cops' cop". He would put his life on the line for any of them in the inner circle of One PP.

But, keeper of secrets? He was not.

Sid looked at her. "Not long, huh? I dunno about that. My guess would be there was something brewing here for quite some time…" he trailed off wondering.

What the heck? Was Sid a freaking psychic? Abigail wondered. My own subconscious even hid it from me.

"But, look, what are you two gonna do?"

Abigail faced him with an uncharacteristic look. One of helplessness.

"I don't know, Sid. I really don't."

Sid nodded empathetically. "It's a tough spot; I know."

His eyes suddenly widened. "Oh geez, now we gotta hide it from Garrett! He's like a search and rescue bloodhound dog about this kind of stuff."

Abigail sighed. "Look, just do what you can to keep this under wraps. Please," she looked at him pleadingly.

"I swear. I'll keep my mouth shut. But you know, Abby, I got a big mouth and sometimes - "

"I know Sid. I know. Just whatever you can to keep it quiet, ok?"

He nodded. "Ok. We better get ready for that press conference this afternoon. The more distracted I am -"

She finished for him, "The better."

He nodded enthusiastically, "Yep you got it."

A/N: Let me know your thoughts on this story so far! How do you think Garrett's going to find out about the Commissioner and Abigail? I'm enjoying writing a bit of comedy into my fic. I always enjoyed the dynamic between the "inner circle" of One PP characters.
