Gold Trailer
- Mistral Regional Tournament -
Aurelia's Theme: "Gold" - Imagine Dragons
- 79 PVT (Post Vytal Treaty) -
"This year for sure," A girl with golden eyes and hair can be seen muttering to herself. She wears a leather chest armor artistically decorated with twining flowers engraved and filled with gold. A golden cloak hangs over her left shoulder that matches the skirt underneath her chest armor, both bearing a dark outline of a chrysanthemum standing out against the golden fabric. "You're not just a pretty face, and this time you'll prove it to them. You're not just a rich girl; you are Aurelia Anthea, and you are going to prove to them all what you can do."
"You'll do fine," Another girl's voice comes from just behind her, and Aurelia whirls around to see a tall, red-headed girl with green eyes dressed in Greek-style armor.
"That's easy for you to say, Nikos." Aurelia spits at the only girl she thought genuinely liked her, not just for her semblance, and the only one she could ever see becoming friends with, not that she had ever told her that. "Everyone already expects that the Invincible Girl will win once again. And then you'll go on to Haven and be worshiped all four years."
A look of hurt flashes over Pyrrha's face before she covers it up with a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes. "Well, I can see I'm not wanted. Good luck in the tournament, Aurelia."
As Aurelia watches what might have been her last chance for a meaningful friendship in Mistral close the door behind herself, she begins to slap her forehead repeatedly while muttering under her breath, "Stupid, stupid, stupid, you just can't keep your damn mouth shut and try to maybe get an actual friend for the first time since you unlocked your semblance. No, you've got to go and tear her head off when she tries to help you through your nerves. AARGH! Well, all I can do is apologize, and at least she'll never have to see me again after I go to Beacon this year."
Shaking off as much guilt as she can, she prepares herself for the tournament, now even less sure of herself than when she began her self-pep talk.
- 3 Days Later Tournament Finals -
By some twisted web of fate, the two had not met until the finals, even with the randomizer deciding matchups every round. Aurelia approaches Pyrrha before the start of the match and stops her in the tunnel leading to the arena.
"Pyrrha, wait, you know you are very hard to find at these things." Aurelia cries before lowering her voice to a much softer tone. "I don't want what I'm about to say to affect the match in any way, but I just want you to know that I'm sorry for biting your head off the other day. I just am under a lot of pressure from my family, and I took it out on you, and that was unfair. I don't expect you to forgive me or anything; what I said was massively uncalled for, especially given the fact that you were trying to help me, and I didn't even mean most of it, I mean, you might be the only person at Sanctum that I'm sure is being genuinely nice to me and..."
Pyrrha's hand covers the other girl's mouth in order to stop the rambling apology.
"You are forgiven," Pyrrha says, still covering the golden-haired girl's mouth. "And just so you know, I wasn't really that offended, merely a little shocked and hurt at hearing the girl who has usually been somewhat of a friend say all the things I feared people believed of me."
"Friend?" the other girl whispers after pulling the hand from her mouth. "I didn't think I could have one of those. Well, I guess I would be the one to ruin the one chance at genuine friendship I've had in years." She says this with a humorless chuckle before starting to walk away.
She is stopped by the redhead's hand on her wrist
"I wouldn't say ruined," Pyrrha contends, holding the other girl back. "It may be a little difficult seeing as I'm not going to be attending Haven next year, but if you'd like, we could try being friends for real from now on."
"Sure," Aurelia replies shakily before composing herself and smirking at her new friend. "And don't worry, I won't hold it against you when you beat me, so don't you dare hold back on me."
"I won't hold back, but there's no guarantee that I'll be the winner, so I'll say the same to you on both those counts." Pyrrha proposes.
"Deal," Comes the assent of the other girl, though she does roll her eyes slightly at her new friend's dismissal of her own skill.
"AND NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT OF THE NIGHT." The announcer's voice comes from somewhere in the stadium, echoing throughout the building. "THE FINALS OF THE MISTRAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENT FIRST UP IS THE THREE-TIMES REIGNING CHAMPION, THE INVINCIBLE GIRL; IT'S PYYYRRRHAAAA NIIIIIIKOOOOS! AND HER OPPONENT, THE GOLDEN GIRL OF THE ANTHEA MERCHANT CLAN; IT'S AURRRRRELIAAAA ANTHEEEEAAAAA!"
The two new friends walk out side by side into the tumultuous applause and cheers of the crowd, both wearing a nearly identical fixed smile at the crowd's attention. As they reached the stage, they stepped off to either side and readied their weapons. Pyrrha's Miló in it's spear form and her shield Akoúo̱ at the ready; Aurelia's a simple gladius and round shield, or parma, both composed seemingly entirely out of gold, though when inspected more closely, both seem to have been formed completely from minutely shifting golden flower petals.
"THIS WILL BE A FIGHT TO RING OUT OR AURA REACHING THE RED ZONE. NOW THAN LET THE FINAL MATCH OF THE MISTRAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENT BEGIN!"
With that announcement, the two fighters sprung towards each other. Pyrrha stabbing forward with her spear and almost dancing around the stage as she changes fluidly from spear to sword to rifle. Aurelia moving her sword and shield economically to parry a blow from the sword or spear, blocking the dust rounds fired at her and bashing away her opponent or her shield. As their weapons clash, sparks fly towards the metal floors of the stage. Both fighters are giving it their all, or should we say having the appearance of giving their all? Neither the spectators nor their opponents seem to notice when Aurelia's golden sword seems to lengthen for an instant in order to smack away the spear's blade, nor when Pyrrha's weapon seems to spin around her body seemingly without any help from its wielder. They are all too enraptured by this swirling dance of red, bronze, and gold, as it seems that it may go on forever. Alas, all things must come to an end as Aurelia loses her footing momentarily and is then shield bashed off the stage as Pyrrha capitalizes on her opponent's momentary weakness.
The crowd cheers deafeningly as the announcer's voice is once again brought into focus.
"AND AFTER AN INCREDIBLE DISPLAY OF SKILL FROM BOTH COMPETITORS, YOUR CHAMPION IS ONCE AGAIN THE NOW FOUR TIMES CHAMPION OF THE MISTRAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENT, THE INVINCIBLE GIRL, THE ONE, THE ONLY, PYYRRHHAAAAA NNNIIIKKKOOOOOOSSS!"
Pyrrha suddenly turns to her right as her hand is raised high into the air, and she sees none other than Aurelia holding Pyrrha's arm high to show her victory.
"Told you you would win," the golden girl mouths at her new (and only, as it would be) friend, only to receive rolled eyes and a grin in return.
- Several weeks later -
Sitting in the private airship her family had let her use in order to get to Beacon, Aurelia contemplates how she will miss her friend.
"Maybe at Beacon I can make new friends," She mutters under her breath. "Surely there will be at least someone that doesn't care if I'm the heiress to one of the largest jewelry companies on Mistral. I mean, it's not like it took me seventeen years to make a real friend. But it's not like I'll never see Pyrrha again; I mean, the CCT allows communications to all over Remnant and there's no way she won't make it to the Vytal Tournament…"
The pilot's voice rings out, cutting off her ramblings.
"Mrs. Anthea, your first view of Beacon and Vale is coming up on your right. We will be landing in 30 minutes."
"Whoa!" Aurelia gasps as she looks out at the sprawling city and the school set above it.
