Forget Forgiveness

Chapter 5

Still Asleep

Seth P.O.V

I stayed with Sofie all day every day for a week, until they made me go to school. Even then, I went every day after school. It had been three weeks.

"Seth, how are you?" Mom rolled herself in. Her ankle was extremely broken, and she couldn't walk on it. She was switching to a walker next week.

"I'm worried the doctors were right." I whispered.

"They were wrong. I can feel it. She'll wake up soon." She pursed her lips. "Seth, I hope you can forgive me. This was my fault-,"

"Mom, it wasn't your fault, and as many times as I tell myself it, it's not my fault either." I told her, taking her hand. She squeezed my hand.

I was left alone with Sof until visiting hours were over, since her mom saw her in the mornings, and Leah visited her during the day. I didn't know when Eli visited her, or if she even ever did. I saw her at lunch the next day. Jacob had made me promise to continue going to school. He didn't order me as the Alpha, but I couldn't tell him no when I knew he just wanted the best for me. Eli looked as much a mess as I most likely did. She must not have been sleeping either.

Her eyes looked wild when she looked at me. Sometimes new wolves would spend days shifted when they were angry or stressed. She must have been spending her nights shifted as a wolf. "How is she? I get near the hospital to try to hear things but it's too noisy."

I shrugged. "She's not waking up. They say she still has brain activity, which makes them hopeful. But she isn't showing any signs of waking up." Eli shook her head. "Carlisle came through. He said she seems perfectly healthy, just not able to wake up. The brain bleed is pushing on part of her brain and sleeping is easier than waking up or something. He told me she has a really good chance."

Eli turned quickly. "I like the Cullens and everything but… You aren't going to turn her into one of them… Are you?"

I shook my head. "Carlisle wouldn't do it if I wanted to. She's fine. He said everything is going fine. She isn't dying. He wouldn't do it. I don't want to do that to her anyway." Eli nodded. "She doesn't deserve the pain it takes to become a vampire just so that I am not able to lose her."
