Notes: Before we jump ahead three years, let's see how little Makima fared at the Demon Containment and Research Center. Everything from Dr. Yuna's point of view.

Chapter 7: A Very Peculiar Girl

Yuna's POV:

Makima seemed so indifferent to anything that came her way, it showed on her face or her expressions. She seemed so monotonous when I talked to her, at first she didn't respond to the things I asked her, however when it was a one-answer question she just nodded or shook her head which confirmed that she could understand me, but she didn't want to talk to me or didn't find it necessary for some reason, it was like that for the first few weeks.

However, from the beginning, Makima showed an ability to learn basic topics that children of her age should know. She could read and write easily, much more easily for a girl her age, although well she wasn't quite a girl but that's another matter. So when she was 7 years old, Makima knew basic things that children her age are still taught in schools, so I was not forced to delve deeper into these fields. This was probably due to the vast knowledge that the control demon gained throughout history from her, if so, Makima will probably be able to awaken other abilities that she learned earlier in the future. We will have to see that.

But something that destroys this theory is that Makima knows almost nothing about demons or hell. So it is likely that she can only awaken her abilities that she learned before from her but not her past life memories of her. I realized this when she asked me once what hell was, I explained it to her and taught her a little about all the knowledge about demons, just the basics, later on she will know more, much more.

Anyway, after explaining some things to Makima she seemed surprised and very curious about what I was telling her, but after a month of teachings I was finally convinced that her past memories would never come back, I put so much information into her brain but apparently none of that could awaken a memory. Unfortunate or beneficial? It depends on who you ask.

The plan we had for her was basically to raise her from a young age, educate and train her in the best possible way so that in the end she would become a demon slayer, one of the strongest demon slayers Japan has ever seen, she would also be the strongest hybrid and being a hunter at the same time. She would basically become a weapon for the government, all under the guise of protecting the citizens but those with an extra brain cell and a government job would know the real plan behind that facade.

What they want is to try to control the demons, the hybrids in this case, demons that reincarnate in the body of a human that, when found, can be used as weapons to kill other demons, that way the population is protected more but someone may think that this would be an excellent army to invade a country or overthrow a government. They will use them as they please and for sure in the future they will use them in other ways than just to kill other demons. I'm sure.

We were very lucky to find the control demon just as this project was starting, she would be a good test subject to start all of this with, if progress is made in less than 5 years then more hybrids will be brought here for education and training to turn them into weapons.

That's what they want, but what do I want? I've been so fascinated with demonic arts and cultures for a long time, that's why this work fits me like a glove, all kinds of demon fascinate me so much that I study them until I know more about them than they do themselves.

Makima or the demon of control seemed to me to be an impressive specimen, especially her ability to control any being that she thinks is inferior to her, a power as great as that can be used for great feats, and it can also be used for chaos and destruction. I will be there at all times to squeeze all the potential out of it and make it the best weapon that Japan will have.

We looked for Makima for two reasons, the first was to integrate her into the Japanese government program, the second was that we had to find the demon of control before he learned to use his powers on his own, if so, the chaos that would be unleashed would be it would be unimaginable.

The demon of control has already caused chaos in the past, and that has been more than enough to put his name in the history books. His name is known by practically all hunters but it is because he is a very popular demon that very few hunters have faced and returned to tell about it.

The last one barely made it out alive. But the one before him did not, how will the next one who faces her do?

For the first month I tried to teach Makima all the basics about demons and hell as well as how the hunter system works. She seemed to understand everything perfectly. However, I had to teach her what was not useful for her, worldly things like family or the ties that bind people, all of that was not going to serve to make her what we wanted. I told her that such common behaviors would not help her to reach the top, to use her powers to perfection. We will see if in the future she will not look for these things.

The second month was basic teaching again, however I told her to look through the books we had here so that she herself could read and understand them, she seemed to be very interested, especially one demon in particular. The chainsaw demon, another demon that is undoubtedly impressive, more than impressive. Makima became so interested in the chainsaw demon that she then started bombarding me with various questions about this demon, apparently she became her admirer. It is possible that this demon influenced her past life, I don't know.

At the end of the second month it was time to explain to Makima about her true nature, hoping that with this she could recover her past life memories of her. I was wrong. Makima seemed to accept everything calmly she even she was unaffected by the fact that she has died and been reborn over and over again throughout history, strange and peculiar, it's almost as if she was expecting it. As if she had already been told the same story over and over again.

Makima became more interested in the powers part of her, especially her main power of mind control. She told me that she wanted to learn it but I told her that it would take some time and that it was likely that she would wake it up and learn it by herself, since it was a unique power of the control demon, only she knew how it worked. In time she would probably remember how to use it.

Makima seemed discouraged at first but she quickly accepted it. This was so much like a typical scene of a 7 year old kid, he asks you to buy him something he wants but then you explain why you can't buy it for him and he seems to agree but reluctantly. It seems that Makima is still a little girl after all.

The third month has started this day and the only thing I hope is that we continue as well as we have done so far, Makima still has a lot to learn and I have a lot to study from her. I know that one day Makima will become someone impressive, one of the best demons ever seen, she will stand out among all the others, she will prevail over anyone who thinks that she is inferior to her and with her powers she will even be able to change the world.

Although those last things are just things that I imagine.

No one can screw this up, no one.

Notes: short chapter but there was nothing more to tell until now, later when things have been developed more you will see chapters where Dr. Yuna narrates the development of Makima, probably every 10 chapters but that can always vary.

So far she has recounted the first 2 months of Makima's stay and study at the demon containment and research center, then I don't know whether to decide if she recounts the three years lost in the time skip or to start when Hiro meets her. We'll see.

Oh, and for that last one there is little left uuufff.

See ya.
