Alarms blared loudly aboard the Space Battleship Yamato as its crew ran back and forth through its halls. One crew member in particular, the young gunner named Susumu Kodai, ran out of his quarters. He stared around, confusion etched on his face. "What the... what's going on?" he wondered aloud.

"Hey, Kodai!" a voice called out and the Yamato's gunner turned to see another member of the crew. It was the ship's helsman, Daisuke Shima, wearing the same white uniform but having green stripes instead of Kodai's red.

"Shima, what's going on? Why are the alarms going off?" Kodai asked him.

Shima shook his head. "I don't know, but the ship's on full alert."

Before either one could say anything, a voice announced boomed through the Yamato's P.A. "All crew members, attend to your posts! All group leaders report to the bridge at once!"

"That's the captain!" Shima recognized. "Whatever is going on must be important."

"Let's hurry, then," Kodai nodded and he ran down the halls of the Yamato with Shima in tow.

The journey was short, and the doors slid behind Kodai and Shima as they entered the Yamato's bridge. Already, they could see everyone was frantic, running to and from their stations. The only who was not moving about was Captain Juzo Okita at the captain's chair, dressed in the captain's coat and cap instead of the white uniform.

"Captain!" Kodai saluted and Shima followed. "Just what's going on?"

Okita's bearded face turned to two men. "Kodai, Shima, take your stations."

"But captain," said Shima, "what's going on?"

"We've detected an anomaly." That was the chief scientist, Sanada, donning the blue stripes. "Something appeared on the radar a few moments ago. What it is, we don't know. It keeps fading in and out of the radar."

"Kodai," Okita continued, "tend to the cannons. Shima, prepare for emergency maneuver!"

"Yes, sir!" the two young crew members said in unison.

Just as Kodai went for his station, Shima stopped suddenly and let his friend pass by him. "Shima?" Kodai noticed. "what's the matter?"

"I... I thought I heard something," Shima said with some uncertainty.

"It's nothing. Probably just hearing things," Kodai waved it away.

"No, I'm hearing something too!" Sanada confirmed.

One by one, the present crew stopped their duties. At first, there was a silence, and many thought it was nothing. However, something happened in a few moments later; a sound of some kind, echoing through the bridge's wall.

Vroop, vroop, vroop...

"What's that?" Shima said, voicing everyone's thoughts about the sound.

As the sound grew louder and louder with every second, gasps rung out when a large box appeared in the middle of Yamato's bridge. It kept fading in and out of view until it finally appeared with a loud boom. All eyes fell on it, seeing nothing more than a blue, wooden box with the words "POLICE PUBLIC CALL BOX" written atop. No one said or did a single thing until a door opened with a loud creak.

"Everyone, prepare yourselves!" Okita ordered and the crew drew their guns. "It might be a Gamilas plan."

The moment the door opened, smoke swooshed out of the box. A man soon followed, coughing and waving the smoke away with his hat. "Dear me. I thought I got that thing fixed a century ago," the man coughed. He sighed and put his hat back on his curly head. "Oh well, I'll have to get to it, eventually."

The man turned around, finally noticed the guns pointed at him. "Ah, hello to you all!" the man smiled with teeth shining. "I do apologize, but the old girl can have trouble with the landing."

Confused looks were shared between the crew. Only the captain kept a calm demeanor as he rose from his seat. "What is the meaning of this? Why are you here?"

"Ah, you see..." the stranger fixed his scarf and coat, "I was doing some calibrations and I seem to have caused a bit of a buzz in one of the TARDIS' circuits."

"TARDIS?" asked an armed Sanada.

"Yes, that's the blue box here," the man pointed to the smoking box behind him. "I hope you don't mind me asking where I've landed, and io whom I'm speaking to?"

Okita stepped forward. "You're aboard the Space Battleship Yamato. I am Captain Juzo Okita and my crew. And who might you be?"

"I'm called the Doctor."

An armed Sanada raised an eyebrow. "Doctor? Doctor who?" .

"Just the Doctor. Now, if you don't mind, I would like to..."

Just as the stranger reached into his pockets, Kodai put his gun to the man's head. "No funny business," Kodai warned.

"Oh, don't worry, they're only sweets," the stranger said as he held out a small bag to the captain. "Would you care for a jellybaby?"

AN: I hope you guys like this idea. I'm kinda surprised I didn't think of this sooner, since these are two of the greatest sci-fi shows (in their respective countries, anyway). As Doctor Who is about a face-changing alien traveling through time and space in a blue box, I thought it'd be appropriate for him to meet the crew of the Yamato, who are searching for a way to the planet Iscandar to save their own dying Earth. Since Yamato is a classic of the 70s, it makes sense for them to meet everyone's favorite incarnation of the Doctor, Tom Baker.

Please let me know what your thoughts about this. Is it good, bad, or meh? I'd like to know.

Raika out!
