AN: Hello everyone. This is just a SW AU idea I had. I was planning to make it into a full-blown story but with other stories coming up, I decided to put this on the side for now.
Basically, this story has the infamous Jedi-Sith conflict from millennia before the movies keep going instead of ending like they did (with the Sith's 'destruction') and leading up to the events of the movies. This would continue to the time of the OT era, which turns out to be a different place and the Empire rises in the middle of the ever-lasting struggle between light and dark, and our heroes-Luke, Han, and Leia-must find a way to end this conflict and restore peace to the galaxy.
As this story does take a different turn with continuity, I thought it would be a good chance to mix in different elements from both the old Expanded Universe/Legends canon (Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, etc.) and the new Disney canon (Ezra, Kanan, Great Scourge of Malachor, etc.). There of course would be a Darth Vader (there always has to be one), but this would turn out to be a little different than normal.
Anyway, I hope you'll like this little preview I had for it. Enjoy!
Raika out.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
STAR WARS
THE ONGOING WAR
Years after the Jedi-Sith conflict devastated the Republic, the Empire sends their ships into the Core Worlds controlled by the Sith Lords. One by one, the followers of the Dark Side lose their control.
However, many are caught in the crossfire, including the once-vaunted JEDI KNIGHTS. Wishing to end the war, a few Jedi form secret alliances with other worlds.
On the world of NABOO, a small group of Jedi prepare to meet with an ally and dear friend to one of their greatest knights…
Sullust
30 BBY (Twenty-five years ago)…
Lightsabers roared and crashed to the sway and sizzle of lava. Bodies in armor and robes mixed in with each other while a rainbow of colors clashed against one another on the rocky grounds of Sullust and lit the ashen clouds above. The line of Jedi Knights held their positions along the molten river, preventing the Sith Lords from passing through. The objective laid behind the river of lava and was housed in the mighty stronghold of obsidian durasteel that almost shone with the red-orange heat from the lava.
Up the balcony of the stronghold, Supreme Chancellor Valorum was terrified. The lanky human could hear the sound of blaster fire and lightsabers scream from below. The Jedi held the line for less than an hour, and already it seemed like their forces were dwindling. Not even the company of his Senate guards gave him comfort.
Until now, Sullust was thought to be a safe place. It had been one the few worlds still loyal to the Republic, and its volcanic and desert terrain provided good defense against ground troops. The Jedi had brought Valorum here to draw out the Sith and finish them once and for all.
The Jedi had to succeed, Valorum told himself. They must. The Jedi and Sith warring with each other for centuries left its toll. With worlds becoming battlegrounds, star systems either left the Senate, or were seized by the wretched Sith Lords. Even Coruscant, the heart of the Republic for over a thousand generations, had been taken by the Sith. So many years of ruin... so much destruction.
"Curse the Jedi and their war," many had said. Whether or not they were right about that, Valorum knew there had to be some chance for the Jedi to win for the Republic to survive.
Suddenly, something caught the Chancellor's ear. It a low sound that somehow hummed over the sounds of battle below. It alone made Valorum look up and ask "What's that?"
Spearing through the dark clouds perpetuating Sullust's sky was a sharp point tip. As it descended through the clouds, the tip turned onto the full front of a star ship, shaped into a sharp triangle and colored in familiar gray gunmetal Seeing it made Valorum's eyes widen. A Sith warship, he recognized, but how? Did the Sith fleet break through the blockade?
"Chancellor, we need to get you to safety!"
The voice of his Senate guard turned Valorum away from the sky, and he left, with his guards flanking him.
However, it was too late. Large beams of red laser shot from the black sky and the shots struck the stronghold, burning at the durasteel walls and turret defenses. Before anyone knew it, the supports were melted away, and the balcony came off. Valorum had little time to even scream as the floor fell away, and he fell with it and his guards.
And as the fighting raged on, the stronghold soon collapsed into the lava and with it, the last remnant of the Old Republic.
