Naruto let out a sigh as he was waiting with his teammates for their sensei to show up. It was the day after meeting the redhead and the encounter was still on his mind. Something with the kid just didn't seem right.
"Have you guys noticed anything weird?"
"Like what Naruto? Oh, don't tell me it's something stupid like the grocery stores stopped selling your favorite type of ramen or something like that." Sakura sarcastically replied.
"Sakura…" Naruto looked at Sakura agape. The girl stared back at him and after a second later, she began to feel bad about her comment. "I knew you noticed! You really do care about me!" Nevermind. She regretted ever feeling bad.
"But no, that's not what I wanted to say. Yesterday I saw a guy that wasn't from here. His headband was a different kind."
"Yeah? What about it?" Sasuke spoke up, interest slightly peaked by what Naruto was saying.
"The guy just felt… off."
"Off?"
"Yeah! The guy just felt like… err uhm, what's the word I'm looking for?"
"Don't tell me you're afraid of this guy."
"What! No! It's not like I was scared of the guy or anything, promise!"
"Oh, you're such a liar Naruto! Just admit you were scared of the guy!" Sakura retorted.
A sudden cloud of smoke appeared on top of the bridge Team 7 was waiting on and when it cleared, Kakashi was standing there with an eye smile on his face. "Hey guys, did ya miss me?"
"Nope." Sasuke retorted quickly.
"Ahh don't listen to him! I missed you sensei! We haven't trained together in a while huh?" Naruto happily called out.
"We have not Naruto but sorry to say that that's not what we're doing here today either." Kakashi held his hand out as Naruto let out a whine. "I know Naruto, but hear me out. The chunin exams have come around again and this time it's the Hidden Leaf Village's turn to host the exams."
"So you want to enter us in the exams." Sasuke finished Kakashi's statement.
"Well, yes. Although each of you has to determine whether or not you'll participate. Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura. Each one of you has to ask yourselves if you are ready to take the exams." He reached into his pouch and pulled out a scroll. He opened it and then handed out the forms that were just unsealed.
"Oh! Oh! Kakashi-sensei do you have a pen?!"
"Did you think deeply about this decision Naruto?"
"Yeah yeah!"
Kakashi shrugged his shoulders and handed Naruto a pen. After Naruto scrawled his name on it and silently handed it over to Sasuke. Sakura watched the two in silence before she looked down at her paper. Sasuke glanced at her and noticed that she wasn't completely ready to sign. He walked over and handed the pen to Kakashi, both of them understood his actions and reasoning.
"Alright, you're all dismissed. I want these signed if you're participating by the end of the week. You'll turn it in, in Room 303. It's where the first test of the chunin exams will take place."
"You got it sensei!" Naruto yelled out enthusiastically, earning a ruffle of his hair from Kakashi. "Hehehe." After Sasuke turned to leave, Sakura followed him. Naruto stopped himself and turned to face Kakashi, remembering what was on his mind from earlier. "Hey Kakashi, is that why there are other village ninjas here?"
"Yes, genin from many different villages came here to participate in the chunin exams." Naruto nodded his head in understanding and looked down at his already signed paper, anxiety and regret beginning to build up. "You having second thoughts about entering?"
"No!" Naruto blurted out. "It's just that… it's just that I met this guy from another village yesterday."
"And?"
"...nothing. Nevermind." Naruto shook his head back and forth before he looked Kakashi in the eyes. A sudden fire sparked to life within the boy's ocean-blue eyes. "I'm entering and I'm gonna win the exams!" Kakashi eye smiled at the boy's fearlessness and determination. 'I'll just get stronger! Strong enough to beat that guy! And I'll get that strength by taking the exams and winning them!'
Wind Country…
"RAGH!"
Tendrils of golden sand shot toward the foe of the user, but the opponent was as slippery as a snake and managed to dodge every attack thrown at him. The cloak of the Fourth Kazekage flapped with the wind and action of the fight. The Kazekage was suddenly held by the throat with his opponent chuckling.
"Oh Rasa, you're not the brightest of the bunch, are you? What Kage in their right mind would accept an alliance with someone like me?" The Fourth Kazekage's visage soon warped till it looked like a sand clone. "A Substitution Jutsu?!"
"There's more, you snake Orochimaru."
Orochimaru turned around to see the redhead coming out of the sand before he turned back around to see what he was talking about. It didn't take long for explosive tags to emerge of out the sand and detonating not a second later. After the smoke cleared, the Kazekage saw Orochimaru's tattered body collapse in on itself before turning to mud.
"You almost had me there, but I decided to take a page out of your book and swapped out with a clone of mine." Orochimaru chuckled, entertained by how the battle was going.
Rasa growled before he slammed his hand on the ground, making sand shoot up in the air before it turned into dozens of sand spears. They shot off at the pale man who had no trouble evading them. The Sand Shadow clicked his tongue out of annoyance before he stopped the assault of spears and instead opted to send a giant wave of golden sand high in the sky. Orochimaru came to a stop and briefly stared at the giant cloud of golden sand, wondering what the man was planning.
"Take this, you slippery bastard. Golden Sand Shower!"
Orochimaru narrowed his eyes at the jutsu that was now in freefall. What was Rasa planning? Just merely dropping the sand on him would simply be nothing more than a hindrance to someone of Orochimaru's caliber… but then he saw it. The golden sand soon sharpened into senbon and on top of that, there were explosive notes hidden within the senbon. "Oh, Rasa… you have more tact than I gave you credit for," Orochimaru smirked before he ran full speed toward the Kazekage. "But you still haven't reached your full potential. You're still not using your mind to its fullest extent!" Rasa frowned before he floated the piece of sand he was on and raised it high in the sky. "There! See? Now you're starting to make it challenging!"
Rasa growled before he rained down the remaining golden sand. There was a giant cloud of smoke from all the explosive notes he had hidden within the sand senbons. 'I had to space out the explosive senbons… I should've brought more explosive notes, I don't think that it was enough to take him out.'
"Wow, that was a close one."
Rasa sent out a Wind Style: Great Breakthrough to clear away the smoke and was shocked to see that Orochimaru wasn't within the smoke. He scanned the ocean of sand below to see no sight of him. 'Where is he?' His eyes widened before he flared his chakra, breaking through the genjutsu that was subtly placed on him earlier. "When did you do it?!"
"Aww, but that'll ruin the surprise." Orochimaru's smirk widened when he saw Rasa's vein bulge. "Fine, I'll tell. It was when I grabbed you initially." Rasa clicked his tongue out of annoyance and decided that he was done with this. He raised his arms and the golden sand around them all gathered together, closing them off inside a giant sphere. "What are you planning now I wonder?"
"I'm planning on killing you no matter what. With you on the loose, my village and my children are in harm's way. Goodbye." Orochimaru felt his hair stand up on his arms. He quickly crouched down and launched his way toward the Kazekage, not wanting to sit back and tease the man as his gut was telling him he was in actual danger this time. Rasa's eyes widened as he saw Orochimaru rocketing toward him. He quickly flashed through a few hand signs and blew an Air Bullet out of his mouth, sending the pale man rocketing back down to the ground.
Once Orochimaru was blown back, Orochimaru chuckles as he stood up and began taunting him. "I didn't know you knew any other jutsus than your sand techniques. I'll commend you for surprising me."
"I don't want it." Rasa grounded out before he made a few hand signs and finished on the rooster hand sign. "But I'll take your corpse as an apology!" The air became saturated with Rasa'a chakra before he yelled out, "AIR SOCKET JUTSU!"
Suddenly Orochimaru felt the air around him change…

He instantly began to find a way to get around this jutsu but was coming up empty. He couldn't retaliate with a wind jutsu of his own as he had no access to oxygen, and he needed to use the wind jutsus in his arsenal. While the snake was thinking of ways to get around this predicament, Rasa made a giant wave of sand rise over Orochimaru until it became a tsunami of sand. Orochimaru stared up at the wave before his eyes widened for a split second before he became buried. With the snake underneath his sand, Rasa placed his hands down on the floor, creating a shockwave from the force of the sand tightening together. He let out a sigh of relief, he had won and killed the Sannin. He dropped down the sphere of sand and turned around, ready to head back into the village for a quick rest before he informed the village elders.
Rasa's eyes widened as he was suddenly stabbed through the stomach by a boy with long white hair and two red dots on his forehead.
"Kukuku. Kimmimaro, I thought I told you to stay put."
The Kazekage's breath hitched as he turned around and saw Orochimaru standing there with a grin of amusement plastered on his face. Kimmimaro sliced his sword up, cleaving the upper half of the Kazekage's body in two. "Apologies Orochimaru-sama. I just acted without thinking. It won't happen again." He said as he bowed his head.
Thud
"Good."
"Who would've guessed that the Fourth Kazekage would've had a jutsu like that in his arsenal," Kabuto remarked.
"Oh Kabuto, you still have much to learn. Any Kage is of a whole different breed than your average Jonin. Although I have to admit that Rasa was slightly disappointing, I was hoping to have a lot more fun in this fight."
"I'm proud of you." Kakashi proudly stated to his students. "I couldn't ask for a better team. Good luck."
Naruto smiled widely and proudly boasted, "We won't let you down sensei! We'll beat these exams!"
Kakashi eye smiled as all three of his genin walked into the room. After a while of just listening to the conversations through the door, a prick of worry nipped him. 'They have every right to be terrified of what's to come, but I hoped that their trust and teamwork with each other would help them get through these exams. I bet even the most rowdy one of them is beginning to feel scared.'
Just like that, it's as if the heavens above heard his worry because right after Naruto shouted out his confident statement. "My name is Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm going to beat every one of you!"
Kakashi began to chuckle as he began to walk toward the Jonin waiting lounge. He had been worried over nothing. His genin could handle whatever was thrown their way.
Naruto was rubbing the spherical bump on his head that Sakura had caused when she bonked him on the head for his loud outburst earlier. 'I was just saying what I was thinking. Ouch. Can't blame a guy for being honest.' He let out a sigh of resignation before he felt someone tap his shoulder. He turned around and saw Hinata. "Hmm? What's up Hinata?"
She tapped her fingers together out of hesitation before she held out the container she was holding. "It's for your head. It should help with the swelling. I made it myself…" The shy girl trailed off at the end, and the nervousness she was keeping at bay finally retaliated.
"Oh thanks, Hinata, but I'll be fine," Naruto responded with a wide grin. He saw the girl's mood fall, causing him to tilt his head out of confusion. Right before he asked if she was alright, his attention was shifted to another person.
There were three people in total. They were moving across the room at high speeds. Naruto began to tense up when he suddenly realized who their target was. The only one in their line of sight, Kabuto. He was preparing himself to intervene or retaliate if he couldn't be there in time when suddenly there was a giant cloud of smoke toward the front of the room they were in.
"Alright, you baby-faced degenerates!" A man dressed in a darker version of the standard uniform of the Intelligence Division, along with a black trench coat and gloves. "Get a good look at me because by the end of these exams… you're going to hate my very existence if you're not pissing your pants."
Naruto gulped as he listened to what the man was saying. He flipped the test over when the test began and he stared at the paper with a blank expression. 'Oh man, I can't do this!' Naruto internally panicked. 'Sasuke and Sakura are going to kill me for making them fail the first exam! And all because it was a written test! Why couldn't it have been anything else!'
" Psst, Naruto."
Naruto looked up and saw Hinata sitting next to him with her test paper hidden from the proctors' eyes but visible to him. "You can use my answers Naruto. I want you to make it to the next exam."
Naruto's eyes widened with surprise and excitement at the thought of making it to the next exam because his friend offered him help when he desperately needed it, but then his eyes focuses behind Hinata. There was a proctor with a smirk on his face, watching the two of them, waiting for Naruto to begin writing down what Hinata wrote down. "Thanks, Hinata, I really appreciate it… but I can't." He slapped on a small smile. "I don't want to get you in trouble. I'll be fine, don't worry about me."
Naruto faced down at his paper and thought about writing down random junk but decided against it. He didn't know if they would remove points for wrong answers, only that they would if they cheated, but then again he didn't want to try just in case.
"Pencils down! It's time for the tenth question." Ibiki loudly announced to everyone left.
*gulp* 'Ok, it's now or never. Everything's riding on this tenth question.'

"Whew!" Naruto yelled out of excitement and relief. "I almost didn't make it back there!"
His teammates rolled their eyes as they made their way toward their designated gate while he happily followed behind, his mood was too good to be ruined after he got away with not only not answering any questions, but also didn't have to cheat. He felt on top of the world!
"Everyone at their gates?" Team 7 ran the last bit of distance to reach the gate before Anko continued. "Everyone ready? 3, 2, 1, GO!"
The genin of Team 7 shot right into the forest and kept going straight until they met one of the Amegakure teams. After a brief skirmish between the two, Team 7 was back to finding a team to steal from when suddenly someone felt a dangerous presence.
Rippled eyes snap open with worry painted on his face. Someone was approaching Naruto who hopelessly outclassed him. He could feel the killing intent and the large chakra pool of the stranger from within Naruto.
He quickly grabs his staff and channels chakra into it. The Sage holds it a few centimeters away from touching Naruto's mindscape, hesitantly thinking about how he should go about telling the boy.
Objective: SURVIVE
'Huh?'
Suddenly Team 7 was assaulted by a strong gust of wind, sending them flying a good bit of distance. However, Naruto was hit with the brunt of the jutsu which made him fly back even further than his teammates. 'I have to land safely so I can go help Sasuke and Sakura!' He attempted to tilt his body back straight up, but a giant snake suddenly appeared in front of him. 'Oh great! Could it get any worse?!'
Just as if the snake heard his silent cry, it swallowed him whole.
The giant snake slithered away, following his summoner's commands. The python suddenly began bulging out all over his body. The reptile's slitted eyes widened with fear before the snake burst open, sending all the Naruto clones flying out.
"Ewww, snake guts!"
"Shut it! We have to go find Sasuke and Sakura! They could be in trouble if they are fighting giant snakes like this one." The original shouted as he kicked the giant snake's head.
"Right boss!"
Sasuke panted as his fire jutsu did its work. He had tied the Kusa "genin" to a tree with ninja wire attached to shurikens and lit the wire aflame. With the inferno burning away at the woman's remains and the tree, Sasuke dropped the wire and sat down. He needed a break from the intense combat that he had just been through. He hated to admit it, but he felt scared that he wouldn't be able to defeat the girl.
He got up and began to walk away when his ears suddenly picked up noise coming from the burning tree. Goosebumps immediately trailed across his arms, making the hair on them stand up. He turned around and saw that the woman's face began to peel off, revealing a pale white-skinned face along with yellow-slitted eyes.
"My, my, Sasuke. I wasn't impressed by your earlier displays, but this… now I'm more than impressed, I'm ecstatic." The Kusa shinobi peeled off the rest of the burned skin and tossed it away.
"Hey!" Both predator and prey turned to face Team 7s remaining genin. "What was the password again? I forgot it."
"Naruto?!" Sasuke yelled in disbelief and relief.
"While I am curious as to how you managed to escape from my snake,"
"That was yours? I blew it up."
"…I'm not interested in you boy. You're nothing special. Your teammate on the other hand," the pale white man turned to face the Uchiha again as he gained a sinister smirk. "He's something special indeed."
"Oh yeah? I'll show you special!" Naruto launched towards the new opponent with Sasuke screaming for him to stay back. The yellow-haired genin threw several kunai at the man and was shocked to see him catch them all easily.
"I'm a bit busy so," Orochimaru smirked before he slapped his hand down on the ground, making a giant cloud of smoke appear and another giant snake emerged from the smoke. "I'll deal with you quickly."
"Another snake?!" Naruto yelled before crossing his arms to shield his body as Orochimaru's giant snake flicked his tail. Crack after crack , the jinchuriki finally stopped after crashing into the third giant tree branch.
"Naruto!" Sasuke yelled, trying to see if he was still alive, but his attention was forcibly refocused on that man.
"Tsk tsk, focus Sasuke." The man began to punch Sasuke with enough force to make the boy see stars. "You have so much potential." He kept wailing on the Uchiha. "You just need someone to give you that extra, PUSH!" Orochimaru finally kicked Sasuke with just enough force to send him skipping like a rock on the tree branch they were on. "And I'll be the one to give that to you."
The giant snake that was summoned peeked from below the tree branch and craned his head back, preparing to assault the Uchiha but was slammed in the face suddenly.

Naruto jumped back up and bounced off a tree branch, managing to land in between Orochimaru and Sasuke. The Sannin immediately noticed the red-slitted eyes the boy was now wielding. 'I haven't seen those eyes since the day of the Nine-Tails attack. So the boy is the bijuu's jinchuriki. I'll just seal his bijuu's chakra here so he doesn't become a problem later down the line.'
Naruto crouched down and prepared to launch at the man but froze when suddenly the man appeared in front of him. He roundhouse kicked Naruto's abdomen, sending him rocketing into a tree before the boy bounced back. "Is that all you got?!" The boy taunted back making the pale man frown with displeasure.

The young boy managed to deliver a few strong blows to the giant snake, but it was all in vain as Orochimaru's tongue wrapped around Naruto and brought him close. He struggled to free himself as his teammates cried out his name. Orochimaru was now face to face with the boy. He pulled up his shirt and saw the now visible seal on Naruto's stomach. 'Such a work of art! Maybe I can incorporate this seal into some of my work.' The Sannin internally chuckled.
He pulled his arm back with each fingertip igniting itself within purple flames. ' Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Lightning, Five-Pronged Seal!'

Rippled eyes opened once again before he looked around himself. He hated that he couldn't do anything to stop it. He wanted to… but he knew he couldn't. The man looked down at the right side of his abdomen and saw the vicious scar that he'd gotten when he overstepped his boundaries.
A younger man jumped in front of the woman he loved, the mother of his two children.
His foe was a scout from the invaders that had stolen his mother away.
The younger man wanted his revenge so he lept forward, wanting to beat this man to a pulp before he questioned him… but things didn't work out that way.
The invader pulled out a large red glowing axe before he sliced away a chunk of the younger man's side.
He screamed out in pain before he clutched his side.
He angrily turned to face the invader, only to see blood dripping off the red-glowing weapon.
Blood that came from his now lifeless wife.
He shook his head to make the haunting memories go away. The invader was brought there because he overstepped himself and used his chakra in large quantities. He tested it out several times and each time was confirmed. His chakra brought them here every time.
He let out a long weary sigh before he floated down to the floor of Naruto's mindscape. 'Just a tiny amount of chakra wouldn't alert anyone. Just enough to ease the boy's burden a little bit that this man had wickedly placed on him.'
"Oh, my head." Naruto drawled out. He opened his eyes and met Shikamaru and Choji standing over him with worried yet curious faces. "Shikamaru? Choji? What are you guys doing here?" He shot up with alarm before looking around himself and his surroundings, scouring everywhere for the man they had been fighting. "Where'd he go? What are you guys doing here? What's going on?"
"Woah there! Calm down! Jeez, this kid is energetic." Shikamaru spoke aloud.
"Hmhmhm."
"What the?" Naruto scanned the area around himself once again but saw no one chuckling.
"That boy, hmhmhm, he's quite sloth-like." Naruto frowned as he scrunched up his face. He used his pinky to dig into his ear, trying to see if that would stop the voice he was hearing. "Hmmm, I wonder what else that seal affected. I hope nothing too bad."
'Seal?' Naruto looked around and saw that Shikamaru and Choji were talking to him but he couldn't hear them. "Man! Can you shut up? I can't hear myself think!"
"Hmm? Can the boy hear me" /"What the hell did you just say to me?!"
"Of course, I can hear you! You're talking so loud that I can't hear myself think!"

"OW! WHAT THE CRAP INO?!"
"DON'T TELL ME TO SHUT UP!"
"I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU, FLOWER GIRL!"

"I KNOW YOU MEANT FLOWER GIRL AS AN INSULT!"
'Hmhmhm, I'll keep quiet for now. I'll just observe for now until I need to make myself known.'
After a brief little scuffle between Ino and Naruto, both teams decided that it was time to split up. They both needed their scrolls so splitting up would be the best option. Team 10 decided to go West while Team 7 decided to head North, toward the tower in hopes of stumbling upon a team with the scroll they needed.
Sasuke and Sakura began packing their camp while Naruto was bouncing on the heels of his feet. "Ahh screw it." He channeled his chakra to match the familiar way his favorite jutsu required. 41 shadow clones suddenly poofed into existence, making Naruto frown. 'I was trying to create 60.'
"Naruto? What are you planning on doing with all those clones?" Sakura prodded, genuinely confused by the blonde's sudden actions.
"I wanted to mess around with the remaining people." Naruto cheekily giggled.
Sakura rolled her eyes before she turned to face Sasuke, who merely shrugged his shoulders. He wasn't feeling up to his usual bickering with his teammates. Not after what he had gone through. He winced from phantom pain before he instinctively covered the mark with his right hand. The pinkette took on a worried face before she slapped on a face of annoyance. "Fine, just make sure that you don't lead them back to us, got it?"
"You bet! Hehehe!"
While Team 7 heads towards the tower, his clones span out and one of them found something interesting. He found a genin contestant who had a scroll spread out on the ground. With his interest peaked, he quietly maneuvered his way closer to get a better look.
The genin seemed to be fumbling through a series of hand signs, letting the clone know that what was on the floor was a jutsu scroll.
"Oh, I wonder what jutsu it is?" Naruto quietly chuckled as he let a wide, cheeky grin cross his face. He worked himself toward behind the genin so he could get a better look before the tree branch under him cracked and broke. Naruto slammed into the ground before he looked up, his eyes locking with the other genin's before they both burst into action.
The now-revealed Kumo genin quickly runs toward Naruto while Naruto gets up and runs too, but his goal was the scroll. The Kumo genin threw a haymaker punch meant to knock out the boy but Naruto ducks under it and slips past the kid. He quickly donkey-kicked the boy away before he grabs the scroll and fled, with the other boy yelling for him to stop.
After a while of running, ducking, and trying to lose the boy, the clone let out a sigh of relief before he opened the scroll and sees it was a Lightning-style ninjutsu. "Oh boy! Oh, buddy! I found the jackpot!" Naruto excitable laughed out. He fully opened the scroll before he began silently reading it.

Naruto's clone dispelled as a kunai was thrown directly into the clone's skull. The Kumo genin that was chasing him for the longest dropped to where the clone had been as he was breathing heavily.
"Finally." He bent down and grabbed his jutsu scroll. "My sensei would've killed me if I let this be taken by another genin."
The boy turned around, wanting to head back toward where he had been before Naruto took the scroll and ran. But he couldn't remember the way back. The boy took in a deep breath before exhaling slowly. "Fuuuuuuuuucckkkk-"
Naruto, who was currently tree-hopping with his teammates, suddenly remembered something. 'Lightning ball jutsu? Oh man, I can't wait to master it and then show off right in front of Sasuke!' The boy imagined pulling off the jutsu and saving the day with Sakura cooing over him while Sasuke was childishly banging the floor out of anger that Naruto was better than him. "Hehehe!"
