Rewritten
While on their way back to the dorms, our curly haired duo decided to meet at Izuku's dorm later that night.
Izuku looked at the clock on his phone, 3:16, that was roughly enough time for him to get a mild training session in! However, he was quickly cut off by Mina.
"Hey, Remember what I said okaaaaay? No training. Have some fun today!" Mina let out another classic smile.
Izuku realized he just mumbled that all out loud. He's a bit glad Mina caught him but... What was he supposed to do? He didn't want to bother any one of his friends. He instead decided to research the news and see if any new heroes debuted.
As they made it to the dorms, Izuku opened the door for her and Mina decided to tease him a bit. "My~ what gentleman." She then left Izuku to be reduced to a blushing, frantic mess.
Mina skipped to her room joyously and started putting her new clothes away. Once that was done, it was time to brainstorm on how to get Izuku to open up.
Izuku went and sat on the couch only then realizing that nearly all his classmates were in the lobby. "Hey bro! Heard you and Ashido went to the mall... Hope shopping for clothes wasn't too much of a drag. How did everything else go?" Asked an enthusiastic Kirishima.
Izuku was quick to panic, making his perverted classmate very suspicious of him but not at all subtle. "HOW DID YOU SCORE A DATE WITH ASHIDO?!" His outburst had got him a quick piece of tape slapped across his mouth from Sero. "Such a loud mouth..." He mumbled.
Izuku silently thanked Sero, deciding it was better not to speak then to have someone perceive far too much from so little. "Bro?" Kirishima started "Are you okay? You seem extra nervous".
"I-I'm fine" came the quick response from Izuku. Kirishima smiled "I'm glad you decided to stop training so hard and give yourself a day. What else did you and Ashido do?".
Izuku nearly panicked again as he tried not to say too much about what he and Mina truly discussed "J-Just shop at the mall and talk a bit." His voice slowly got quieter.
"You know, I didn't know you and Ashido were so close. She seemed really happy when she came back". Kirishima commented.
Izuku nearly broke into a cold sweat "W-We're not that close". Izuku tried to calm down and took a deep breath "She's just excited because she got some new clothes" he mentally smacked himself.
Kirishima gave a toothy grin "Well be careful, her happiness can be infectious!" He then turned to the TV and started watching some show.
Izuku made a mental note of that as he got up and walked to his room silently. He wanted to make sure his room was fitting for a girl to enter. As he entered his room he came to a sudden realization. 'I've got some cleaning to do'. Izuku thought.
Timeskip to 6:30
Izuku had cleaned his room and had dinner, to which he could hardly eat due to the nervousness of having a girl in his room soon after. Especially for such a reason of telling her what's on his mind. He obviously couldn't go too far into it but even getting a little bit off his chest might help his nerves.
A sharp knocking sound came from his door and as he opened it he was greeted by a smiling Mina who wore her sweatpants and black shirt with the word "Pinky" in a fashionable pink on the shirt. "Hey Midori! You ready for our hangout?"
Izuku could hardly make a noise as he nodded and let her in. After he shut the door he turned to her only to realize she had taken a seat on his bed. The blush on his face only got redder as she patted the spot next to her, an offer he felt was too polite to refuse.
After sitting by her for a moment, Mina debated on asking a question until the courage deep within her finally spoke. "I wanted to ask... Are you still okay with this?" He looked at her a bit surprised that she wasn't pushing for answers. "You don't have to cry your heart out to me or anything. I just wanted to know why ... You feel the weight of the world on your shoulders." She looked down after saying that last part.
Izuku finally smiled a bit. "I don't mind... I guess I'm... Actually glad someone asked... It's been years since I felt like I had an opportunity to be so honest. So I guess I'll start but... I wanted to thank you first, Ashido." His smile grew a bit "Thank you for taking time out of your own schedule for me".
Ashido looked... Baffled ... Then started to crack and started laughing. Izuku didn't tell a joke, why was she laughing? Was there something in his teeth? Did she remind herself of a joke?
"Dude" Ashido stated as she started calming down "You don't ever have to thank me for taking time to talk to you. Thats like, the easiest thing ever!" She flashed another smile his way.
Izuku blushed "Oh ... Well uh... Ask your questions I guess hehe" he tried to share her laughter a bit.
Mina smiled then focused up "Okay so... Why are you so shy? I've known shy people before but when you first came to this school I had no idea one person could be so shy!"
Izuku played with his thumbs a bit "That's m-mostly from my childhood, I was b-bullied a lot".
Mina's gasp was loud enough but her voice was close to the same level "What?! Who would bully a little green bean like you?!"
"J-Just some kids from my old school. They bullied me because... My quirk came late" Mina's confused head tilt signaled him to go on. "Remember when I used to break my bones because of my quirk?"
Mina nodded "How could I forget?! We were always so worried for you!" Izuku smiled knowing that so many people cared for him.
"Well... If I were to try and use it when I was younger, the blowback would have been so devastating I could have lost my limbs." It felt bad to lie about the origin of One For All to her but it was necessary to keep her safe.
Mina's jaw nearly dropped "Woah... That's crazy! When did you find out about your quirk?" She shifted in her spot on the bed so she was aimed at him.
He sighed "Uhhh... The day of the entrance exam."
"... WHAT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" She had to take a second to process this before standing up in disbelief. "So... You had no idea about your power when you signed up for the entrance exam?! That's crazy! You could have legitimately been hurt or worse!" She then put a few too many dots together "Wait a minute... That means..."
Izuku curled up a bit, fearing she finally understood.
"Does that mean... People used to think you were quirkless? Cause I remember when you threw that ball during orientation, Bakugo had rushed you asking about your power... Wait but... You guys came from the same school right? so... Oh no" she looked at Izuku, his body shaking as he tried hard to forget how much he suffered through, being hopeless for so long before finally being given a chance at his dream.
Izuku didn't know what to expect but his memories and trauma were all coming back to him. Suddenly, he felt warmer, Mina had wrapped her arms around him in a comforting hug. He instinctively adjusted and leaned into the hug. Mina then smiled "You know... You are one of the strongest people I know, Midori" Izuku's eyes shot open in shock before letting her gaze. "I don't think I would be the same person after enduring all you did... I know people with mutation quirks are looked down upon but... I've heard it's really bad for the quirkless people... But you still have the heart of a true hero! Whatever those bullies ever said to you, just let it roll right off. You're Izuku Midoriya, and you're pretty damn cool".
The shield had combusted and tears finally started falling, Izuku was vulnerable but he was so happy. Izuku held onto these thoughts and memories for so long he forgot that having a friend hear this, actually helped! Mina's kind words helped too. He was afraid that he would just receive pity, but Mina was something else. He didn't even care that they were so close and hugging.
Mina would stroke his back to soothe him as she whispered "Let it all out, Midori~" Repeatedly. Izuku let out as much as he could and after a while his tears dried up.
"Thank you, Ashido..." He whimpered
"Mina." She exclaimed "Call me Mina. All my friends do".
Izuku blushed but felt honored and had to wipe any new tears he felt away. "G-Got it, M-Mina."
Satisfied, Mina smiled. "Thanks. Anything else you feel like telling me?".
Izuku gulped "Well... It's more of a question." He hesitated before saying "Why did you want to help me?"
Mina took a moment to think until she finally said "A heroes job is to stick their nose where it doesn't belong, and help out no matter what! Just like you did for Todoroki" She pumped her fist in the air as Izuku had now felt he truly understood her.
'Her personality helps her confront not only dangerous hero situations, but even something small and ridiculous like my past. And it's just because she wants to help!' Izuku thought to himself.
"Aren't I right, Midori?" She flashed that classic Ashido grin which he had all but memorized at this point.
"Izuku." Mina froze for a minute as he said his own name. "You let me call you Mina, so you can call me Izuku." The blush on his face was so noticable but the joy in Mina had to be unleashed "YAY! We're officially best buds now!" Mina yelled as she threw her arms up in the victory pose.
Izuku and Mina talked for only a little while longer and after so long, Mina grew tired and was about to leave.
Mina got up from the bed "I think I better head out. I'm starting to get tired" she said as she let loose a big yawn.
Izuku got up to get the door for her "Thanks again Mina, I really appreciate it" he smiled.
Mina ruffled his hair a bit "Us curly haired peeps gotta stick together. Ain't that right, I-zu-ku~" she said in a teasing manner.
Izuku lightly blushed but nodded "Yeah um... Do... Do you wanna hang out again sometime?"
Mina nodded yes "Of course! Maybe that big brain of yours can help me with my homework, I'm still pretty far behind in the ranks."
Izuku smiled "Whenever you wanna meet up is fine with me."
Mina chuckled "Okay then! Tomorrow, same time! See you then!" She started walking to her room
Izuku waved to her "Night, Mina". As he shut his door he felt... Happier. "Kirishima was right". Izuku chuckled to himself as get ready for bed. Both teens then went to bed almost giddy at the thought of hanging out tomorrow.
