"I'll detonate the pluton bomb at a safe location… V3, I leave the rest to you!"

As the words echoed and a fire consumed her dreams, Starlight Glimmer woke with a frightful gasp. The pink pony inhaled and exhaled slow breaths of air, trying to calm herself the best she could. The cold sweat was soon gone, but her mind was not at ease.

Starlight still remembered the dream vividly. She dreamed of the stranger with the metal arm. The mouth, clearly not a pony's, formed a small smile as he grabbed the controls and the fire began to consume him.

It was not the first time Starlight had such a dream. There were others where she was the same creature, fighting other creatures-monsters that killed without mercy. The metal arm he bore changed, shaping into different weapons against those monsters. There were others too, six others who fought alongside him as allies. Like every other time, she felt frightened, then perplexed, then frustrated.

Starlight sighed and relaxed on the bed she had been sleeping on for the past few weeks. It was hard and cold, but it was to be expected for a prison cell. The ball and chain too, though that was specifically wrapped around Starlight's horn than her legs. It did not matter. Sleep did, and she preferred to be asleep than be awake with just a sliver of moonlight.

"Hey."

On the other hand, there was that. Or rather him

The runt had only been in the cell for a few days. Since then, he had talked to her every now and again, more than Starlight's previous cellmates. What did he want this time?

"Hey. Are you awake?" he whispered again.

Starlight turned to the other side of the cell. Through her long and disheveled bangs of her mane, she saw a purple drake lying on the bed. Not so chubby like a baby dragon, but still in his infancy years. "What do you want?" Starlight groaned her question.

The big green eyes stared back at Starlight. "Just wanted to see if you were alright," he said. "You looked like you were having a nightmare."

"It's nothing," Starlight replied with a tone that said anything but fine.

"Alright," and he fell silent.

Starlight shuffled in her bed and awaited sleep to take her. Well, it would have, if her curiosity had not gotten the better of her. Turning back around, Starlight demanded, "Why are you still awake? Shouldn't a dragon baby your age be taking taps?"

"I'm not a baby," the drake insisted. "And I'm just waiting."

"Waiting for what?"

"Escape."

Starlight snorted. "Escape? You really think that's going to happen? We're in the palace dungeons."

"Hey, even great dungeons have a couple cracks in them."

Such a smart aleck, but even Starlight held in the urge to snark at his comment. Withholding a sigh, Starlight got off from her bed, and her right foreleg made a soft clang when it touched the floor with the rest of her legs. Deciding to humor her cellmate, Starlight asked, "What's your name, again? Was it Thorn, Barb, or Prong?"

"It's Spike."

"Alright, Spike, let's say if there is a way out, if we can get out of this jail, how do you think we'll even get past the guards, let alone escape from here?"

Even in the darkness, Starlight could see the drake give a shiny white grin, and it irritated her. "Oh, don't worry, they'll be here," he said.

They? Starlight blinked her tired eyes at the word. The drake must be delusional. Did he really think anyone would come here to rescue–

A large bonk made Starlight's eyebrows and her ears perk up. She turned to the doorway, hearing bonk, bonk, bonk, and bonk from outside. Starlight was surprised and could only fathom what was going on. For Spike, he sat up and said, "Right on time! You should probably stand away from the door."

Starlight did. Outside the cell, a stallion said, "Wait, what are you-WAH!"

Starlight almost jumped hearing a mighty CLANG against the door. No sooner, the locks were undone, and the door swung open. The poor Night Guard, whose was knocked out by the metal obstruction, collapsed on the cell floor, tongue sticking out and dark helmet tilted over his face.

Starlight had seen only moonlight for weeks, and when light came flooding into the cell, she had to raise a hoof over her eyes. Squinting, she saw a pony standing over the unconscious guard, with its puffy, pink mane sticking out from up top and shadows hiding the rest of it. The pony in question stepped forward, and Starlight was shocked to see not pony eyes, but red, glowing, bug-like eyes staring forward.

Then, the pony waved a red-gloved hoof. "Hiya, Spike!" the pony greeted cheerfully.

Spike waved back. "Hey, Pinkie. How's the rescue going?"

"Oh, it's going well. We've just gone through dozens of guards and traps," said the strange pony, like she was talking about the weather. "Speaking of which, do you know there's a switchy door thing down–"

"PINKIE!" cried another voice from outside, and one that sounded familiar to Starlight.

"Oh, I almost forgot!" she said, then called over her shoulder, "I found them!"

Another figure entered the chamber. It was another pony in similar armor to the first and had red, bug-like eyes focused on the little dragon. Her purple male hung from her helmet and flapped as she ran over to the drake. "Spike!" the pony cried. "Alright you alright?"

"I'm fine," assured Spike, who turned his attention to the only normal pony in the room. "This is Starlight, the one you were telling me about."

Her eyes readjusting, Starlight noticed the two new ponies were almost identical to each other. Both wore strange, green insectoid armor, and each had a red scarf around their neck. Not to mention the bug-like helmets with red eyes, antennae, and a silver mouth. Both wore strange belts around their waists. The differences, aside from the manes, were few. The pink-haired pony had red gloves and a dark green helmet while the purple-haired one had silver gloves and a light green helmet.

"Who… who are you?" Starlight could only ask.

"We're here to rescue you," said purple-haired bug pony, whose voice, again, was eerily familiar. "We need to get out of here. It won't be long before more guards show up."

"Great!" Spike smiled. "We can finally get out of this dump!"

"Uh, about that," said the bubbly bug-pony, "… there maaay have been a bit of a problem when we came in."

Starlight could see Spike was afraid to ask, but he did anyway. "What problem exactly?"

"There are more guards closing in on us… and they're blocking our escape route."

Spike groaned. "Is there another way out? We can't go through the front door."

"We can improvise," said the bug pony with the purple mane as she walked to the wall on the far end.

Starlight groaned. "And how do would we do-"

BAM!

Starlight gaped at the hole in the wall. White moonlight gleamed off the bug pony who punched through the layer of bricks and she looked back with a twirl of her purple mane. "Come on!" she shouted.

Then, the bug pony in front grabbed Spike and jumped. Before Starlight knew it, the other bug pony grabbed her, and the two were already out of the hole. Then, Starlight found herself soaring through the air.

The first thing Starlight saw were the battlements. Ancient and new stone were trampled on by the Night Guards, who stopped to see Starlight landed effortlessly on the prison's stone battlements. The bug pony carrying her hopped again, carrying Starlight. The other bug pony bounced passed the surprised Night Guards, with Spike riding on her back.

They fell on another battlement, then another, then another. As they did, Starlight shouted, "Where. Are. We. Going?!"

She found her answer soon enough. Passed the battlements laid the trees of the Everfree Forest. A forest filled with trees and only separated by a giant moat so deep went it past the base of the fortress. Starlight's eyes widened, realizing what plans her rescuers had in mind.

"Hang on!" the bug pony instead answered.

Starlight did. She wrapped both her metal and normal hooves around the bug pony, who leaped off the final battlement. As gravity pulled on her, Starlight shut her eyes tight and screamed…

AN: What you just read was what could have been the part of the first chapter for my old MLP/Kamen Rider story, The Seven Kamen Ponies (I had put a snippit of it about a year or two ago). I thought to put this up after rummaging through my old story ideas because I thought it would be interesting. I hope you all think the same. Take care.

Raika out.
