Kara's POV

Kara had seen it as a mission, the old man had asked her to watch over the former president and that's what she'd done. She had moved in a tent nearby hers, she had gone to the lake with her, she had taken to running with her when Zarek started to show too much interest. She had done what she had to do. But now, weeks later, she had to say, she really liked her!

Her presence soothed her. Kara let a small laugh out, she wondered if anyone else thought of Mme Airlock as reassuring and calming. She smiled, maybe the Old Man saw the same things in her. She, Kara Thrace, now enjoyed going for a run every other day with Laura Roslin. She liked those quiet moments spent in nature, with the sound of the wind and their breathing for only company. She usually didn't like silence and used to fill it with chit chat but Laura had none of it.

Laura was quiet, calm, contemplative. She loved to run and look around. She loved to do yoga and meditate nearby the lake. And Kara loved to observe her. She had a fascination for that little teacher grown president. She longed to get to know her even if the redhead rarely spoke about herself. Maybe that's what intrigued Kara the most or maybe it was the growing relationship between the one she considered her father and the one she was getting to consider as a mother.

They were running down the lake, ready to head home. Their rhythm was the same as always, punctuated by the regular breathing of Laura. She had come a long way in such a small amount of time! They had started running together as soon as they touched ground but months of dying and being stuck in space had annihilated Laura's strength. The first time they ran only 2km before the fifty year old was wiped out. Now, they were past their 5th km and the redhead was asking for more. "Lots of frustration!" She had justified between clenched teeth. It was her way to say that she missed the Admiral. So they kept on running.

Kara found comfort in their routine. They would always go after school, every other day. Laura would always wear her black leggings and sweatshirt. They would walk out of tent city and start jogging once out of town. By the 1rst km, Laura would always take out her long-sleeve shirt and tie it around her hips, running only in a sports bra. They would trail to the lake, loop around it. They would stop, Laura doing yoga on a large flat stone while Kara swam. The teacher would sometimes join her in the water, if it was warm they jogged back home at a slower pace and Laura would put back her shirt on as soon as they saw the tents.

Today, though, Laura was not going at their usual slow pace. She was racing down the hill. Kara ran after her, intrigued. Then she saw it: the raptor that had just landed. She could see the smile on the former president's face as they spotted the familiar bulky silhouette. Kara took a more leisure pace, letting the redhead go forward. Roslin was running so fast, she lost the shirt tied around her hips without noticing it. The blonde bent forward and picked it up. When she got up, she saw that the Admiral had moved behind his ship, hiding from the rest of the crew gathered on the ground.

She resumed her course and could see the look of pure happiness on her superior face when the redhead threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. She laughed, happy to witness such a cute and spontaneous moment. She didn't know old people could still be horny and silly. She loved them even more at that instant.

When she finally reached them, she changed her mind. As much as she suspected they wanted to jump each other's bones, she noticed something else, something more. There was a tenderness, a high level of intimacy between them she had never suspected. Roslin had her feet back on the ground but still had her arms around his neck, smiling widely to him in between kisses. She wondered if it was their stance, their proximity that led her to think of them as newly weds.

Then she saw his hands. He was running his fingertips along Laura's back, toying with the droplets of sweat, and as much as she liked her lovers to be all sweaty in between the sheets she would never touch someone's perspiration after a workout. It was just gross. Except when it's Sam…
