Their goodbye at the gate was something lackluster compared to their walk towards it, but it was still just as heart wrenching. There was a possibility that they would never see each other again, not just because they were going off to battle, but Kagome knew she might be gone before they got back. But they didn't know and Kagome didn't tell them.
She smiled as she always did and hugged each one of them, Baki and Gaara included, as always, and she waved until the gates closed behind them, the only difference was the tears leaking down her cheeks.
