"Let's go," whispered Gaara, his internal battle fought off for the moment. Kankuro sent Temari one last apologetic glance. He had wanted them to be aware of a potential threat, but all he had managed to do was further break the shattering Gaara.

Gaara had not been the same since leaving Suna. The boy was irritable on his good days and downright vicious the rest of the time. Whatever had fixed his baby brother in the first place was unraveling, leaving something entirely foreign in its place, a mixture of the monster and his brother, and something far more frightening.
