"Shukaku?" asked Kagome curiously as she looked up from her tea, her eyes quickly searching the taut lines of the old storyteller's face. The name did not sound familiar, however the dread in his tone, the choked way he had said the name was indicative of something baleful or distressing.
The old man glanced up quickly from his tea before glancing back down.
'Fear,' appraised Kagome curiously as she watched the man's hands shake.
A frown stretched across his face, a twisted form that turned his kindly face into something ominous.
'No,' thought Kagome in surprise, 'not fear, but… shame.'
