Chapter 245: Inurbane

adj. lacking in courtesy, refinement.

Disclaimer: I do not own that which belongs to another.

"Kagome, why such a serious face," groused the Kage with a half-smile. Kagome stood up straighter, her frown just as tight and her eyes just as fiery. She did not want to be here, but if she was forced to be in his presence she wasn't about to make the experience enjoyable for either of them.

"Kazekage," acknowledged Kagome with a slight bow, intentionally leaving off any respectful titles. She hoped that even her bow would scream her displeasure as stiff and mocking as her polite up bring allowed her to make it.

"I'd like to renew that proposition, from earlier," smiled the Kage and Kagome felt something like electricity go through her body.

"What proposition would that be, sir?" asked Kagome and she wondered if Baki's apartment was stocked with soap, she'd probably need at least four bars to get the sliminess of that sentence off her tongue.

"You will be my assistant, and you won't be able to refuse," claimed the Kage, an edge to his tone, his eyes greedy with want.

"Are you ordering me?" Kagome asked airily, or as airily as the terror churning in her stomach permitted.

"You want to see your friends, don't you?"
