"In a month, Konoha will be allowing foreign diplomats and potential clients into their city to watch the Chuunin exam," explained the Kage. Kagome bit down on the inside of her cheek to keep from speaking out. She could see it now, the Kage's battle plans. She knew there was going to be a war, seen it in the defeat of Baki's shoulders, the terror in Temari's eyes, the acceptance in Kankuro's stance, the apprehension in Gaara's quiet.
The Kazekage was going to attack a village for no other reason than to humiliate them on a world stage. Kagome might have believed that the Kage was doing this for the right cause had it not been for the way the man's eyes gleamed in cruel humor. That was not the look of someone going to war for the right reasons.
"As my assistant," continued the Kage, snapping Kagome to the present, "you will be expected to be a part of Suna's party. But I expect some proven loyalty before I just give you a free pass."
Kagome watched the Kage silently, thinking over her options. It was obvious she was trapped, but Kagome had always found a way out before.

AN: This story originally started as a way for me challenge myself when I had a semester off of school, which brought about the dreaded hundred word snippet story and I know not everyone is a fan of it, but hey, you have to admit limiting word count is difficult and exhilarating and for my addling mind at the time it was a perfect way to keep me in shape. But the reason I'm telling you guys this is because I've decided to up my challenge, from one hundred word snippets to two hundred word snippets! Its not much more but, man, am I excited for the challenge! So thank you to all those readers that stuck with me through the making of this story so far, because there's more to come.
