Chapter 251: Interdict

v. to impede by steady bombardment; to forbid; prohibit.

Disclaimer: I do not own that which belongs to another.

Kagome's options included refusing the Kage and escaping into the Desert, but the likelihood that she would stumble upon the Village she was looking for was a one in a trillion of a possibility. She could refuse the Kage, quit at the Mission Desk (because as long as she worked in Suna, the Kage would have some control over her) and bunker down in Baki's apartment until he got back from the Warzone, but that could take ages, and there was always the possibility that Baki wouldn't return- not that Kagome entertained the idea for long. She could refuse the Kage, turn him in to the council as corrupt, and probably be laughed out of the room.

There seemed to be only one option that was viable, and nobody was going to like it, least of all Kagome.

Kagome bowed deeply, her hands neatly overlaid at her knees, her upper body perfectly parallel with the ground.

"Kazekaga-sama, I am most honored by your proposition," began Kagome, taking a moment to swallow the words she really wanted to say, "I am greatly pleased that you would grant me such a position, I kindly accept your offer."

Kagome worked for the devil.
