The month leading up to the Suna's diplomats' mass exodus towards Konoha passed much too slowly for Kagome.

She had managed to sabotage at least three meetings of the Kage's, two of them on accident. She had killed every plant in the office and replaced them with cacti from the vendor she would pass every morning on her way to work. She had burnt every cup of coffee that she had been sent to get the Kage. Spilt a whole bottle of ink on various important battle plans that the Kage had deigned to write out for his troops. All in all Kagome thought that if she had worked for anyone other than this power hungry Kage she would have been fired ages ago.

Not only did Kagome hate her job, she also hated not doing her very best at it. Many nights she would stay up, scouring the maps Ebizō had lent her or making seal after seal to ward off demons, improve health, and protect the carrier of the seal. Anything to help ease the guilt that was eating away at her conscience whenever she knocked over towering paperwork, spilt tea on the Kage, or tripped visiting counselors.
