Temari was close to figuring out this new technique that Baki had showed her nearly three weeks ago. If she could master this than she might be able to use it in the invasion to buy her a few extra moments to think, to plan, to survive.

The closer the Final Exam got the more apprehensive Temari got, the jumpier she became, the more readily she was to strike first and ask questions later. She had nearly killed Kankuro six times already. So when she heard someone shout, it was only the familiar tone of the voice that stayed her hand above her weapons pouch.

Temari could barely breathe as she turned around and looked towards the hilltop. There, at the spot where the sun met the horizon, stood her friend.

Kagome. Her mind cried and Temari could almost forget where she was and what was going on around her. She could almost forget the invasion was going to happen in four days and she forgot that she was supposed to be a battle hardened ninja, because this was Kagome. This was her friend, and she had always been the hope of their team.

Except now, she was in danger.
