She frowned as she looked around the room, noting the polished wood floors that creaked with the slightest added weight, towards the neatly futons piled in the far right corner, one of which she'd borrow as the siblings had persuaded her to stay the night, to the low table they were loafing comfortably around.
"Where's Gaara?" Kagome asked observing his absence and his stale aura in the room. He must have been gone for at least two days.
As tension mounted the air in the room became stifling and Kagome shifted nervously when Temari and Kankuro turned their eyes downcast, only Baki brazenly locked eyes with her.
"Gaara has been training his survival skills in Konoha's forest. He checks in with me fairly often," informed Baki and Kagome's eyes narrowed. There was something they were not telling her.
"He hasn't been here in at least two days, when's he supposed to check in next?" queried Kagome, her tone harsh. No one questioned her knowledge of Gaara's absence, she had always had the talent of discerning Gaara's presence.
"I do not know, but it will be before the final exam at most," answered Baki feeling her glare settle in his bones.
