"Why are you attacking Lee?!" demanded Naruto as he scowled at Gaara, it was totally unfair of the redhead to attack someone when they couldn't fight back.
"No reason," muttered Gaara, his eyes roving over his captors, and Naruto shuddered at the attention of the boy's teal eyes, it didn't look like Gaara was thinking of anything particularly pleasant.
"Well there's two of us and one of you! You're outmatched!" declared Naruto, he would have liked to face the redhead one on one but he knew that Shikimaru wouldn't let him.
"I don't care, I'll just kill you next," Gaara told them and Naruto scoffed.
"I'd like to see you try! Believe it!" exclaimed Naruto even as he swallowed the fear that was tugging at his navel.
"I came into this world killing those lesser than me," informed Gaara, and Naruto wondered when the boy got so chatty, "a little while ago…I did not think it was necessary… but… I have been shown the errors of that being that had brainwashed me. There is nothing for me, except to kill. Not even mother escaped me unscathed."
Naruto listened to the boy's tale with sickened interest. Gaara's childhood mirrored Naruto's own.
