Kagome gazed around the room, looking for the exact path that Gaara would have had to take in order to bypass the various obstacles in the room that would have led to his departure being discovered. She spotted a window nearby and dashed to it.

Her eyes roamed the rooftops of the large city, looking for the familiar blimp of turquoise aura that belonged singularly to Gaara. There was too many places for him to go, and Kagome slumped in defeat a few futile minutes later. The only clue that he had even been in the room was the sand that littered the ground and windowsill.

"He's gone," she whispered sadly to the room of silent ninja.

"Good riddance!" exclaimed Naruto but he must have seen her face crumple because he quickly added, "not that him being gone is good! Just that… umm… now we know that he can't harm Lee, like it looked like he was gonna. But really… he can't be far!"

"It is so YOUTHFUL to be moved to tears at the departure of a friend!" exclaimed Gai, his teeth flashing brightly as he directed a thumbs up in her direction.

Something isn't right, silently declared Kagome.
