Kagome had to hold in a giggle as she watched the blonde sputter and blush. She could tell he wasn't used to being complimented. She wished she could rectify this problem, but her time in Konoha was short, and whatever she could do she doubted he'd ever stop blushing upon receiving a compliment.
Shippo was the same way, preening at any attention. Inuyasha would harrumph and frown but when he thought no one was looking he'd smile and blush. Souta would beam and rub the back of his head while waving away the praise. Temari would shout brashly and insult anyone that complimented her but Kagome had been able to see the skip in her step. Kankuro would act as though he hadn't heard the praise at all, as though he had known all along he was brilliant, but it did not change the fact he would be tranquil the rest of the day. Gaara's reaction was more subtle, at any praise the right corner of his mouth would tug into a scowl but his aura would brighten in pleasure.
When her friends and family were at their happiest, Kagome would squirrel away the memories to remembered at another time.
