Arriving in Paldea
One day after the Eds left Peach Creek, they were just beginning to fly over the Paldea region. Ed was doing what he was doing the entire flight; pushing the call button over and over again. A stressed-out looking flight attendant walked over to him.
"Young man. For the one thousandth time...STOP PUSHING THAT BUTTON! Now if you want something, tell me. If you don't, stop calling me and let me focus on the other passengers!" said the flight attendant. She then walks away to continue her work.
"Ed, I suggest you refrain from pushing that button. You don't want to continue to frustrate the flight attendant." said Edd.
"Yeah, lumpy. She might get so mad she'll throw you out of the plane...while we're still miles up in the air." said Eddy.
"Okay." said Ed. As the flight was nearing it's end, the Eds were going over what they were going to do once they land in Paldea.
"So who's picking us up from the airport, anyway?" asked Eddy. Edd pulls a sticky note out of his pocket.
"According to my parents; someone by the name of Mr. Jacq is picking us up and bringing us to the Uva Academy." said Edd.
"What kind of academy name is that?" asked Eddy.
"I don't know, Eddy. But I don't think we should judge an academy simply by its name. I'm sure it's a fine place to further our educations." said Edd.
"Whatever. All I care about right now is being far away from the kids back in the Cul-De-Sac." said Eddy.
"That's also an added bonus to coming here, as well." said Edd. Just then, an announcement came over the intercom announcing that they were about to land. The Eds prepare to land, but not before Ed pushed the call button again. The flight attendant stomps over to Ed and stares down at him with her left eye twitching.
"What...do...you...want?!" asked the flight attendant through clenched teeth.
"Just playing with the button." said Ed with a big smile on his face.
"AUUUUGGGHHHH!" yelled the flight attendant. Ten minutes later, the boys walked down the plane's walkway. Well, Edd and Eddy walked down it; Ed was being carried out by the flight attendant he was tormenting the entire flight. Once they exited the walkway, the flight attendant dumped Ed onto the floor and ran back down the walkway, laughing maniacally.
"Nice one, lumpy. You drove her insane." said Eddy.
"Now where is Mr. Jacq?" asked Edd. They looked around until they saw a man with gray and black hair, wearing glasses, a purple-striped shirt, a lab coat, blue sweatpants, and sandals, holding a sign with the Eds' names on them. They walk over to him.
"Are you three Ed, Edd, and Eddy?" asked the man.
"That is correct, sir." replied Edd.
"Nice to meet you. I am Mr. Jacq. I'm here to bring you three to the Uva Academy." said Mr. Jacq.
"My name is Edd; but everyone calls me Double-D so as not to confuse my name with my friend here." said Edd as he gestured to Ed.
"I'm Ed." said Ed.
"I'm Eddy." said Eddy without much enthusiasm.
"If you three would come with me, we'll be on our way." said Mr. Jacq as he led the boys out of the airport and to a jeep that was waiting in the parking garage. They soon left the airport and were on their way. As they drove down a dirt road, Ed sees something.
"What's that?" asked Ed as he was pointing at something. They all look to see where Ed was pointing and spotted a creature that looked like a small, light blue elephant with small patches of orange on its ears and trunk. Edd and Eddy were surprised by what they saw.
"What the heck is that?" asked Eddy.
"That would be a Phanpy." replied Mr. Jacq.
"What's a Phanpy?" asked Edd.
"It's a ground type Pokemon that's found here." answered Mr. Jacq. The Eds were confused.
"What's a Pokemon?" asked Edd.
"Oh, that's right. You boys aren't from around these parts. Allow me to explain." said Mr. Jacq. "Pokemon are mysterious creatures that exist throughout this region. There are other regions that exist that also have Pokemon. Pokemon don't exist throughout the entire world, so not everyone knows about them."
"Cool." said Ed.
"Are they friendly?" asked Edd.
"Yes. Pokemon usually get along with humans. Some humans capture them and keep them as companions. Some use them to help them with tasks that their talents could be used for. Some catch them to train for battling other Pokemon; those people are called Pokemon Trainers." explained Mr. Jacq.
"Why have Pokemon battle each other?" asked Edd.
"Some do it to test their skills as trainers to see who the best one around is. Some do it simply for fame and fortune." said Mr. Jacq, getting Eddy's attention.
"Fame and fortune?" replied Eddy.
"Yes. When two trainers battle one another; the trainer that loses must give the winning trainer half the money they're carrying on them." said Mr. Jacq, catching Eddy's interest.
"Sounds like this trainer thing is something I'd like to get in on." said Eddy.
"That's good to hear, because that's what you'll be mainly doing at the academy." said Mr. Jacq.
"Pardon?" replied Edd.
"The Uva Academy is dedicated to educating students on all the fundamental basics of Pokemon. What kinds there are, their abilities, their types, etc." said Mr. Jacq. The Eds looked outside the jeep to see many other different kinds of Pokemon. They see a flock of small, bird-like Pokemon with reddish-orange heads and gray bodies (Fletchling) flying in the air, a small, goatlike Pokemon with leaves around its neck (Skidoo), a light blue, turtlelike Pokemon (Chewtle), a sheeplike Pokemon (Mareep), and a small, pink Pokemon with two fronds coming out of its head (Hoppip). As they continued travelling, they passed by a big tree that had multiple colors on it. On the base of the tree was a black, lemur-like Pokemon (Grafaiai) brushing its finger against one of the trees' roots as if it were painting on it. The Pokemon stops to stare at the Eds as they were going by, creeping out Edd and Eddy, but Ed continued to look at it, smiling.
"They're so cool!" said Ed.
"I'm also intrigued by these Pokemon, as well." said Edd.
"I'm intrigued by the money I could rake in by being a trainer." said Eddy.
"Then you would be wise to learn everything you can at the academy." said Mr. Jacq. As they continued down the road, the Eds saw more kinds of Pokemon, further increasing their interest. Soon they pulled in front of a large city surrounded completely by water.
"Mr. Jacq? Where are we?" asked Edd.
"This is Mesagoza City, the largest city in the Paldea region, and where the Uva Academy is located. They all climbed out of the jeep and walk across one of the bridges around the city. When they entered the city, the Eds were astounded by everything they saw, besides all the other kinds Pokemon. They saw all sorts of stores; such as cafes, restaurants, clothing stores, etc. They soon reached a long flight of stone steps leading up. They started climbing them until they reached the top; by that time, Edd was panting and sweating from exhaustion; but Eddy made Ed carry him after they were a quarter of the way up the steps. The Eds looked to see a large building that looked like a mansion. "Well, boys. Here we are; Uva Academy." The boys looked up at the building, amazed by how fancy it looked.
"It's so big." said Ed.
"Breathtaking." said Edd.
"I can't believe our parents could afford to send us here." said Eddy.
"Well we don't want to be too exclusive." said Mr. Jacq. "We want to make it easy for young kids to learn all about Pokemon.
"Wow. You really want kids to learn about Pokemon." said Edd.
"Yes we do. Now shall we go inside?" asked Mr. Jacq. They enter the grounds and the Eds saw the students interacting with each other and the Pokemon that were there. Eddy also noticed they were all practically wearing the same thing. White dress shirts, ties, purple pants or shorts, and white shoes.
"What's with the clothes?" asked Eddy.
"Those are the academy's uniforms. You're required to wear them while you're attending the academy." said Mr. Jacq, much to Eddy's disdain.
"Oh, man." said Eddy. They all enter the building and the Eds couldn't believe how nice it looked inside.
"Amazing." said Edd.
"Looks a lot nicer than our old school." said Eddy. They soon reached a door and Mr. Jacq knocks on it.
"Come in." said a male voice coming from the other side of the door. They enter and the Eds see an elderly man with gray hair, small beard, glasses, purple jacket over a black dress shirt, white pants and shoes, sitting behind a desk.
"Hello, Mr. Clavell." said Mr. Jacq to the man, now known as Mr. Clavell.
"Hello, Mr. Jacq. I take it these are the three new students from America?" asked Mr. Clavell.
"Yes. This is Ed. This is Edd, but with two Ds, but everyone calls him Double-D, so as not to confuse his name with his friend, and this is Eddy." said Mr. Jacq.
"Pleased to make your acquaintance, boys." said Mr. Clavell.
"Thank you, Mr. Clavell." said Edd.
"Mr. Clavell is the director of the Uva Academy." said Mr. Jacq.
"Boys. Your parents explained why they sent you here. I'm expecting you to be on your best behavior while you're here. I will not tolerate any sort of mischief." said Mr. Clavell.
"Okay." said Ed.
"Yes, sir." said Edd.
"Fine." said Eddy with exasperation.
"Anyway; I just stopped in to introduce you, Mr. Clavell. I will continue to show the boys around the academy." said Mr. Jacq.
"Very well. It was nice to meet you boys." said Mr. Clavell. The Eds and Mr. Jacq exit the office and continue the tour. The four walked throughout the academy, taking in all the rooms. They soon entered a large library with lots of shelves with all sorts of books in them, much to Edd's delight.
"Rapture." said Edd.
"I see that you like books, Double-D." said Mr. Jacq.
"He's a regular bookworm." said Eddy. Ed sees a white, doglike Pokemon with ears that resemble pastries (Fidough) sitting on the librarian's desk. Ed smiled big with adoration in his eyes. Ed runs up to it, grabs it, and gives it a big hug.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Edd.
"That's a Fidough. It's a fairy-type Pokemon." said Mr. Jacq. Ed hugged the Fidough for minutes before setting it down back on the desk. "I could tell you really love Pokemon, Ed."
"They're so cool!" yelled Ed.
"Shhhhhh." said other people who were in the library. Ed quickly covered his mouth.
"Sorry." said Ed.
"Ed, control yourself. You don't want to have to leave and have to go back to Peach Creek and not see Pokemon anymore, do you?" asked Edd. Ed shakes his head with tears in his eyes and quivering lips. They exit the library and they continue the tour. He shows the Eds the cafeteria where they'll be eating. The Eds asked what they eat there, and Mr. Jacq says that the chef will prepare them anything they'd like, much to the boys' delight. They continue with the tour. They soon arrive at another room and enter to see what looked like a research lab. They also see a slender man with brown hair and beard, wearing a lab coat over a blue bodysuit; working at a table. He turns to the group when he hears them entering the room.
"Hello, Mr. Jacq." said the man.
"Boys. This is Professor Turo. A leading researcher here in the Paldea region." Mr. Jacq said to the man now known as Professor Turo. "Professor Turo, these are three new students that I'm currently showing around." Professor Turo looks at the Eds.
"It's nice to meet you boys." said Professor Turo. After some more talking, the four leave the room and continue the tour. They soon entered what appeared to be a classroom.
"This is my classroom, boys. I teach Pokemon biology. It's already been decided that I'll be your homeroom teacher while you're here, so we'll be seeing each other often. So if you have questions in the future, you can ask me anytime." said Mr. Jacq. They leave and they continue walking until they reached another door with a key card slot in it. Mr. Jacq pulls out a keycard attached to a purple strap out of his coat pocket and inserts it into the card slot. The card slot clicks and Mr. Jacq opens the door and he and the Eds enter. Inside the room, there was a bed and desk combo, the bed had a purple blanket with the academy insignia, which resembled grapes on it, white sheets, and a pillow with a white pillowcase on it, a closet with a dresser in it, and another door which leads to a small bathroom. "Ed, this is where you'll be staying while you're here in Uva Academy." He gives Ed the keycard.
"Okay." said Ed, taking the keycard. Mr. Jacq turns to Edd and gives him another keycard.
"Double-D, your dorm room is next door to Ed's." said Mr. Jacq."
"Very well." said Edd. Mr. Jacq gives Eddy another keycard.
"And Eddy, your room is next to Double-D's." said Mr. Jacq.
"Sweet." said Eddy.
"I'll let you boys get unpacked and settled in." said Mr. Jacq.
"Okay." said Ed. Edd and Eddy go to their respective dorm rooms to get settled in. In Edd's room, after unpacking, he takes his label maker and begins labeling everything in his room. Five minutes later, Mr. Jacq enters Edd's room and is surprised that everything was labelled.
"Why did you label everything?" asked Mr. Jacq.
"Apologies. It's just that I have a difficult time sleeping in an unlabelled environment." explained Edd.
"Oh. Well I just came here to drop off academy uniforms and pajamas for you and your friends, as well as your class schedules." said Mr. Jacq as he hands Edd a stack of uniforms and pajamas with a sheet of paper on them.
"Thank you, sir." said Edd as he takes them from his hands.
"That's all I have to show you for now. You and your friends can spend the weekend looking around and finding where your classes are. We made so you three have all your classes together so you'd feel more comfortable. You can also spend time getting to know the other students and the Pokemon that spend their time here." said Mr. Jacq. The Eds do what Mr. Jacq suggested. By the end of the weekend, the Eds became used to being at the academy. On Monday, after a good night sleep, the Eds woke up to start their first day of class. The Eds exit their rooms, dressed in their new uniforms, with Edd wearing a hat. They walk to their homeroom, ready to get started.
"Gentlemen. Are you ready for school?" asked Edd.
"I'm ready to learn about Pokemon!" said Ed with excitement.
"Sure." said Eddy without a lot of enthusiasm.
"Remember, Eddy. Trainers can make a lot of money." said Edd, perking Eddy right up.
"Let's get started, boys!" said Eddy.
"That's the spirit. Shall we?" asked Edd. They all step into the classroom and into a whole new life for them.

Authors Note: Like we pointed out before, don't expect any updates until the Scarlet and Violet games come out. For now, we'll take suggestions for the Eds' Pokemon Teams.
