Welcome to Paldea

As the small airplane that carried Lincoln and Travis was nearing its destination, Lincoln was waking up. Because he didn't have a soft bed to sleep on for the last couple of days due to his bedroom door being boarded up, his bedroom furniture, including his bed being sold, and he was kicked out of the house, he couldn't really get much sleep; so he was drowsy enough to fall asleep on the plane easily. Lincoln looked around in confusion until he saw Travis sitting next to him and the brochure on his lap. He remembered winning a trip to a place called the Paldea Region to become a student at an academy dedicated to learning about the mysterious creatures called Pokemon.

"Okay. We're almost there." said the pilot. Minutes later, the plane was making a landing on a small runway. The plane soon stops, and the pilot turns off the engines. Travis opens the door leading out and he and Lincoln step out. They both stretched their arms, glad to have some room to do so.

"Well, Lincoln; here we are. The Paldea Region." said Travis. Lincoln looked around the area and smiled at the beauty of the nature of the area, not counting the runway, of course. As he continued to look around, he heard rustling in the bushes. He looks and sees a Pokemon that looked exactly like the orange Pokemon that was on the cover of the pamphlet Travis gave him back at the Royal Woods Mall. The Pokemon walked over to Lincoln. "Oh, I know what that is." said Travis. "That Lincoln, is a Pawmi." Lincoln knelt down and began scratching the Pawmi's chin. "Oh, be careful, Lincoln."

"How come?" asked Lincoln.

"Well, Pawmis are..." said Travis before the Pawmi smiled and became surrounded by electricity and shocked Lincoln, causing him to yell in pain. "...electric types." Lincoln stumbled around while the Pawmi ran back to the bushes. Travis held Lincoln by his shoulders to keep him balanced and from falling over. "You okay, Lincoln?"

"I think I'll survive." said Lincoln. Unbeknownst to Lincoln, while he did survive the Pawmi's electrical shock, Lisa's tracking chip did not. The Pawmi's electric shock completely shorted it out. "I think I should learn more about these Pokemon before interacting with them in the future."

"That would be a good idea, Lincoln." said Travis. "Now let's get you to the Naranja Academy, shall we." He and Lincoln walked over to an orange van with an insignia that resembled a sliced orange and Travis climbed into the driver seat while Lincoln climbed into the front passenger seat. After buckling up, Travis puts a key into the ignition and turns it, starting the engine. Soon, Lincoln and Travis were travelling down a road. As they did, Lincoln observed the Paldea Region through the passenger door window. He looked in amazement at all the Pokemon he saw. He saw several seagull-like Pokemon (Wingull) and a pelican-like Pokemon (Pelipper) flying over an ocean, a couple of Pokemon that looked like three yellow hexagons with faces together with insect wings and antennas (Combee) hovering over a field of flowers while a pink, deer-like Pokemon (Deerling) was sniffing the flowers, and a squirrel-like Pokemon (Skwovet) climbing up a tree. He also saw two kids, a boy and a girl, standing in a field a few yards from each other with a Pokemon in front of them. The girl had a light green Pokemon that resembled a plant bulb (Petilil) and the boy had a green mantis-like Pokemon (Scyther). Lincoln assumed they were having a Pokemon battle. Lincoln also saw another boy with a blue-green Pokemon that resembled a pine cone (Pineco) in front of him throwing a pokeball at a black, hog-like Pokemon (Lechonk). The pokeball opens up and the Pokemon turns into red light and gets sucked into the pokeball, it closes, it falls to the ground and begins wiggling. After a second, the pokeball opens up and the Pokemon escapes. It scurries into tall grass. The boy yells something and even though Lincoln could barely hear what the boy was yelling, he was almost certain the boy was yelling the d-word. Lincoln turns toward Travis.

"So where exactly is Naranja Academy?" asked Lincoln.

"It's in Mesagoza; the biggest city in the Paldea Region." replied Travis. After ten more minutes of driving, they reach a large city that was built on an island. Stopping in front of it, Travis turns off the engine and he and Lincoln climb out. "Lincoln. Welcome to Mesagoza." Lincoln couldn't help but stare in awe of how big and amazing the city looked. After a minute of looking, he and Travis walk across one of the bridges around Mesagoza and enter it. As Lincoln and Travis walked through the city, Lincoln took notice of all the sights. There were fountains, restaurants, and some clothing stores. Lincoln really needed to get some new clothes to wear, especially when he noticed some people were staring at him. They could just be staring at his white hair, but he'd feel a lot better walking around not wearing pajamas, which were probably dirty after being forced to sleep outside for two days. They reached a long flight of stairs leading up to what looked like a palace and start climbing it. After two minutes, they reach the top to see the gates of the building.

"What's this place?" asked Lincoln.

"This is Naranja Academy." replied Travis, much to Lincoln's surprise.

"This is an academy? It looks more like a palace!" said Lincoln.

"Yes it does, doesn't it." said Travis. As they walked to the front doors, Lincoln noticed several people wearing the same outfit, probably the school's uniform. Lincoln liked the fact that the uniforms had some orange to them, his favorite color. Lincoln also noticed the students staring at him, making him feel uncomfortable. He really wanted to get his uniforms to change into so people might stop staring at him. Seeing the uncomfortable look on Lincoln's face, Travis places his hand on his shoulder to help him relax. "Don't worry, Lincoln. We'll get you some new uniforms soon enough." said Travis. They soon enter the building and Lincoln looked at how extravagant it looked inside. They walked down a hallway until they reached an office door, and Travis knocks on it.

"Come in." said a male voice. Travis opens the door and he and Lincoln go inside. Lincoln sees an elderly man with gray hair, glasses, a small beard, an orange jacket over a black dress shirt, white dress pants and shoes, sitting at a desk.

"Hello, Mr. Clavell." said Travis.

"Hello, Travis. How was your trip to America?" asked the man now known as Mr. Clavell.

"It was fine, sir." said Travis. Mr. Clavell turns to look at Lincoln.

"Is this our newest student?" asked Mr. Clavell.

"Yes, sir. This is Lincoln Loud. Lincoln, this is Mr. Clavell, the director of the Naranja Academy." said Travis. Lincoln walks up to Mr. Clavell and they both shake hands.

"Pleased to meet you, sir." said Lincoln.

"Likewise." said Mr. Clavell. Mr. Clavell took notice of Lincoln's current attire. "Forgive me for asking; but why are you wearing only pajamas and why do you look dirty?" Lincoln looked down in sadness. Travis steps to Lincoln's side.

"Actually, sir. Lincoln was homeless back in Royal Woods." said Travis, much to Mr. Clavell's surprise.

"You were homeless? What happened to your family that made you that way?" asked Mr. Clavell. Lincoln told him and Travis the details of how he ended up kicked out of his home. It was safe to say that Travis and Mr. Clavell were not pleased with what they heard.

"Your own family kicked you out onto the streets because of some silly superstition?!" said Travis.

"Travis! You should've called the police about what his, for a lack of better word, family did to this young man!" yelled Mr. Clavell.

"I didn't know about that! If I did, I would've called the police immediately!" said Travis.

"I'm sorry I didn't mention that. I just didn't like thinking about how I was treated." said Lincoln. Calming down a little bit, Mr. Clavell turns to Lincoln.

"Then perhaps destiny found it necessary that you win the scholarship to give you a chance at a better life here. Thank you, Travis. I'll handle things from here." said Mr. Clavell.

"Yes, sir. See you around, Lincoln." said Travis.

"Okay." said Lincoln. As soon as Travis stepped out of the office, Mr. Clavell stands up and walks in front of Lincoln.

"I believe one of the first things we should do is get you cleaned up. I'll show you to your dorm room. It has it's own little bathroom with a shower in it." said Mr. Clavell. Lincoln's eyes widened with joy.

"My...own...bathroom?" said Lincoln with tears in his eyes.

"Is something wrong?" asked Mr. Clavell.

"Well in a family with thirteen people living in a house with only one bathroom, using it is really difficult." said Lincoln.

"I can only imagine what that's like, Lincoln. Anyway, I'll show you to your room and arrange to have your academy uniforms and pajamas brought to it while you get yourself cleaned up." said Mr. Clavell. They both then exit the office and start walking to the part of the academy where the dorm rooms are. As they walked down a hall, students were staring at Lincoln. Seeing this, Mr. Clavell gives the students a stern glare to make them look away. They soon reach a door and Mr. Clavell takes out a key card and places it in the card reader on the door, unlocking it. "This is your room, Lincoln." They enter and Lincoln takes note of everything in it. It was bigger than his old room, it had a bed and desk combo to one side of the room. The bed had an orange blanket with the academy insignia on it, a pillow with a white pillowcase and white sheets, the desk had a computer, notebooks and other school supplies on it, the desk chair had a black backpack hanging on it, a closet with a dresser in it, and another door on another wall. Mr. Clavell leads Lincoln to the door and opens it, revealing a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower stall. There was a towel rack with an orange towel that had the academy insignia on it. On the sink, there was a toothbrush rack with an orange toothbrush on it, toothpaste, an orange comb, and a transparent orange cup.

"Wow. I have my own bathroom." said Lincoln with awe in his voice.

"There should be soap and shampoo in the shower. While you get cleaned up, I'll have some uniforms and pajamas brought up here. I just need to know your clothing sizes." said Mr. Clavell. Lincoln tells him his clothing sizes and Mr. Clavell exits the room. Lincoln looks inside the shower stall and saw that not only there was soap and shampoo, but also an orange loofah, much to his delight. Ten minutes later, Lincoln steps out of the bathroom, all clean, with a towel wrapped around his lower body. He notices a stack of academy uniforms and pajamas sitting on his desk chair. On top of them was a key card attached to an orange strap for his dorm room. He grabs an academy uniform and gets dressed. Two minutes later, Lincoln steps out of his dorm room. Mr. Clavell was sitting on a chair in the hallway and takes notice of Lincoln's new appearance. Lincoln was wearing a white dress shirt, orange pants with yellow pinstripes, an orange necktie, and white socks under black dress shoes. "What do you think of your uniform, Lincoln?" asked Mr. Clavell.

"It's awesome. Orange is my favorite color." said Lincoln.

"That's good to hear. Now let me show you around the academy." said Mr. Clavell. The two walk around as Mr. Clavell shows Lincoln some areas of the academy; such as the library and the cafeteria. They soon reach a classroom and Mr. Clavell leads Lincoln inside. Lincoln sees a man with gray and dark gray hair, hexagon-framed glasses, a lab coat, a purple-striped shirt, purple sweatpants, and white sandals with purple straps.

"Mr. Clavell. How can I help you?" asked the man.

"Just showing our newest student around. Lincoln, this is Mr. Jacq. He's our academy's Pokemon biology teacher. Mr. Jacq; this is Lincoln Loud." said Mr. Clavell.

"It's nice to meet you, Lincoln." said Mr. Jacq as he shakes Lincoln's hand.

"It's nice to meet you, too, sir." said Lincoln.

"Lincoln here is the boy who won the scholarship back in America." said Mr. Clavell.

"Well congratulations to you, Lincoln. I hope you like it here in Paldea." said Mr. Jacq.

"Thank you, sir." said Lincoln.

"You know, Mr. Clavell. I have some open seats in my homeroom. Maybe I can be Lincoln's homeroom teacher." said Mr. Jacq.

"An excellent idea. I shall arrange that. Now if you'll excuse us, we have more to see." said Mr. Clavell. He and Lincoln exit the room and continue the tour. They soon arrived at another room and entered. Inside it looked more like a research lab than a classroom. Inside was a slender woman with dirty blonde hair, wearing an orange, two-piece crop top and shorts under a lab coat with pink trimmings, orange stockings, brown sandals, two hair pieces, orange diamond-shaped earrings, and a belly chain around her waist. Lincoln stares at her, blushing. "Lincoln, this is Professor Sada, our lead researcher here at the academy." The woman identified as Professor Sada turns to Mr. Clavell.

"Oh, hello Mr. Clavell. Can I assist you with anything?" asked Professor Sada.

"I'm just showing our new student here around the academy. This is Lincoln Loud." said Mr. Clavell.

"Hello, Lincoln." said Professor Sada. Lincoln continued to stare at her.

"Bah...bah...bah." stammered Lincoln before shaking his head to get himself back to his senses. Lincoln decided that if he was going to do well in Naranja Academy, he cannot lose focus like he did at Royal Woods with his substitute teacher, Miss DiMartino. "Hello."

"It's very nice to meet you. I hope you like it here." said Professor Sada.

"Anyway, I just wanted to show Lincoln this area. I'll let you get back to your research." said Mr. Clavell. They both exit the room and finish their tour. They both go back to Mr. Clavell's office and Mr. Clavell turns to Lincoln. "So, what do you think of the Naranja Academy, Lincoln?" asked Mr. Clavell.

"I think it's awesome. I can't wait to get started." said Lincoln.

"That's good to hear. Since tomorrow's the weekend, you'll need to wait two days for your first day of class. I'll give you your academy schedule and list of your classes. You can spend the weekend going over where your classes are and maybe meeting some of our students here, possibly making some new friends." said Mr. Clavell.

"Thank you, Mr. Clavell." said Lincoln. Lincoln then exits the office and goes back to his dorm room to get settled in. Over the course of the weekend, Lincoln does what Mr. Clavell said and learned where his classes are. He also meets some of the students and spends time hanging out with them. At first the other students were curious about his white hair, but they quickly got over it. Lincoln made a few friends by the time the weekend was over. Monday morning soon came, and Lincoln quickly got out of bed, showered, got dressed, went to the cafeteria for breakfast, and went to his homeroom. "Well, everybody. My new life here has just begun. I know it may be hard at first, but after all the stuff I've been through in my life, I'm sure I can handle it." Lincoln says to you readers. He takes a deep breath, and steps into the homeroom and a whole new world, a world of Pokemon.

End of Chapter 3

Authors Note: Well we managed to make this new chapter of this fanfic. Like we said before, don't expect too many updates until the games come out. Right now, we're willing to take suggestions for Pokemon for Lincoln's team (we're making Fuecoco, Lincoln's starter.) Also, we don't know for certain that Naranja Academy even has dorm rooms; if not, we'll call this an AU where it does. We can't wait for the Scarlet and Violet games to come out.
