Meeting Miraidon
After almost five minutes of travelling by Flying Taxi, the Eds arrived at Poco Path. After climbing out of the carriage, the Eds look around.
"So this is the place, huh?" asked Eddy.
"It appears so." said Edd. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his Rotom Phone. "You know, I want to take the time to try out the Pokedex app on my Rotom Phone. He then takes out Quaxly's pokeball from his pocket and releases him. He then points his Rotom Phone at Quaxly.
"Quaxly, the Duckling Pokemon. Its strong legs let it easily swim around in even fast-flowing rivers. It likes to keep things tidy and is prone to overthink things." said Edd's Rotom Phone.
"So Quaxly thinks a lot too, so he's truly the Pokemon for me. According to my Rotom Phone, Quaxly knows Pound, Growl, and Water Gun. He also has the ability, Torrent, which powers up his water type attacks when his stamina is low." said Edd. Ed releases Sprigatito from his pokeball and points his Rotom Phone at him.
"Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokemon. The sweet scent its body gives off mesmerizes those around it. The scent grows stronger when this Pokemon is in the sun." said Ed's Rotom Phone.
"Okay, this says Sprigatito knows Scratch, Tail Whip, and Leafage. He has an ability called Overgrow." said Ed.
"That ability powers up Sprigatito's grass type attacks when his stamina is low." said Edd.
"Cool." replied Ed. Eddy releases Fuecoco from his pokeball and he points his Rotom Phone at him.
"Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokemon. Its flame sac is small, so energy is always leaking out. The energy is released from the dent atop Fuecoco's head and flickers to and fro." said Eddy's Rotom Phone.
"Lets see, Fuecoco knows Tackle, Leer, and Ember, and it has some ability called Blaze." said Eddy.
"That powers up Fuecoco's fire type attacks when his stamina is low." said Edd.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's just start training our Pokemon so they can take on other trainers Pokemon so we can win some loot." said Eddy. As they turn towards Poco Path, they hear someone calling out to them.
"Hey Eds." said a girl's voice. The Eds look up to see another Flying Taxi setting down to the ground. Inside the Flying Taxi was a classmate and friend they made during their time at Uva Academy. A girl named Nemona. She had tan skin, black hair with some green highlights in the front. She wore an academy uniform similar to theirs, but she had black leggings as well, and also a glove covering her right hand and forearm. She also carried a satchel over her shoulder.
"Greetings, Nemona. What brings you here?" asked Edd.
"I overheard you guys talking about coming here to train and thought I'd help you all out a bit." said Nemona.
"We appreciate the assistance." said Edd.
"So do you all have pokeballs to catch Pokemon for your teams?" asked Nemona. The Eds looked at each other with embarrassment.
"Ummmm. No we don't." said Edd. Nemona reaches into her satchel and pulls out fifteen empty pokeballs.
"Here. I'll give each of you five pokeballs." said Nemona, holding out the pokeballs to the Eds.
"You don't need to do that, Nemona." said Edd. Eddy elbows him in the ribs.
"Don't worry, I have tons of these. You'd be doing me a favor by taking them off my hands." said Nemona. The Eds each take five pokeballs. Ed hears something approaching them. He turns to see a black, hog like Pokemon. Ed takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Lechonk, the Hog Pokemon. This Pokemon spurns all but the finest of foods. Its body gives off an herblike scent that bug Pokemon detest." said Ed's Rotom Phone.
"A Pokemon, you guys." said Ed.
"Do you know how to catch a Pokemon, Ed?" asked Nemona.
"Battle it, and then throw a pokeball at it?" said Ed.
"Correct, Ed." said Nemona. Ed turns towards Lechonk.
"Ready to battle, Sprigatito?" asked Ed. Sprigatito runs in front of Ed and faces Lechonk. "Okay, use Scratch." Sprigatito runs at Lechonk and scratches it in the face with his front paw, knocking it back. Lechonk runs at Sprigatito and rams into him.
"I think that was Tackle, Ed." said Edd.
"Sprigatito, Leafage." said Ed. Sprigatito releases glowing green leaves from his body, and they hit Lechonk, knocking him to the ground. Ed takes out one of the empty pokeballs Nemona gave him, enlarges it and throws it at Lechonk. It gets sucked into the pokeball and it wiggles around until it clicks and stops. Ed picks up the pokeball. "I caught my first Pokemon, you guys."
"Congratulations, Ed." said Edd. Ed takes out his Rotom Phone to learn more about his Lechonk.
"Okay. This says my Lechonk is a boy, he knows Tackle, Tail Whip, and Disarming Voice. He has an ability called Gluttony, which has him eat a berry he's holding when he gets tired." said Ed.
"Good work, Ed. It looks like you know how to capture Pokemon." said Nemona.
"Yep." replied Ed.
"I could catch Pokemon, too." said Eddy. He looks around until he sees a grayish blue spider-like Pokemon with purple tipped feet wrapped in red thread. Edd, being interested in bugs, takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Tarountula, the String Ball Pokemon. The thread it secretes from its rear is as strong as wire. The secret behind the thread's strength is the topic of ongoing research." said the Rotom Phone.
"Strange. The Tarountula shown on my Rotom Phone is yellow with green tipped feet and wrapped in white thread." said Edd.
"Would you hurry up and catch it already? You can figure it out later." said Eddy.
"No need to be rude, Eddy." said Edd. "Quaxly. Please assist me with capturing this Pokemon. Quaxly steps in front of Edd and stands ready for battle. "Quaxly. Please use Pound attack." Quaxly leaps at the Tarountula and slams his wing onto it. The Tarountula glares at Quaxly and releases a spray of thread, tangling up Quaxly. "That was String Shot. It can slow down the Pokemon it's used on." Tarountula then skitters towards Quaxly and rams into him. "It seems this Tarountula knows Tackle as well. Quaxly, use Water Gun." Quaxly opens his bill and releases a spray of water which hits Tarountula and sends it flying into a nearby tree, stunning him. Seeing that Tarountula was struggling to stay on its feet (all eight of them), Edd takes out a pokeball and throws it at the Tarountula. The Tarountula is sucked into the pokeball and is captured. Edd flexed his arm a bit. "Good thing the academy has us doing pokeball throwing exercises. My arm is stronger than it was before we came here." Edd runs over to Tarountula's pokeball and picks it up in triumph. "My first successful capture." Nemona runs over to where Edd is. Edd looks at his Rotom Phone and looks up his new Tarountula's information. "My new Tarountula is a girl, she knows Tackle and String Shot like I observed during our battle, and also Struggle Bug. She has the Insomnia ability which makes her immune to sleep-inducing moves." Just then, Nemona runs over to him.
"Hey, Double-D. What did you catch?" asked Nemona.
"A Tarountula. But it's different than the one displayed in my Rotom Phone's photo." said Edd.
"What do you mean?" replied Nemona. Edd releases Tarountula from its Pokemon and Nemona was surprised by what she saw. "Wow! You caught a shiny Pokemon!"
"Shiny Pokemon?" replied Edd.
"Shiny Pokemon are like regular Pokemon, but their coloring is different from what it normally is. They're extremely rare." said Nemona.
"Fascinating. Well, that explains the coloring of this Tarountula." said Edd as he returns Tarountula to her pokeball. With Eddy, he was looking around for a Pokemon to capture when he sees a pink Pokemon with small appendages, a short tail, two ears, and two fronds growing out of its head. Eddy takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Hoppip, the Cottonweed Pokemon. Outside of cold regions, Hoppip can be found practically everywhere. This is because the wind carries this species all over the world." said the Rotom Phone.
"Well, I guess I can capture this one. If I gonna go for the Pokemon League, I'll need a lot of Pokemon." said Eddy. "Hey, Fuecoco. Help me out with this one." Fuecoco runs in front of Eddy and stands ready for battle. "Okay, Fuecoco. Use Leer." Fuecoco stares harshly at the Hoppip, making it nervous and lowering its defense in the process. Hoppip turns around and shakes its tail at Fuecoco. "Hey! Don't shake your butt at us!" Edd walks beside Eddy.
"I believe that was the move called Tail Whip. It lowers an opposing Pokemon's defense." said Edd.
"Whatever. Fuecoco, use Tackle." said Eddy. Fuecoco runs at Hoppip and slams into it. Hoppip leaps toward Fuecoco and slams into him in response.
"It seems this Hoppip also knows Tackle." said Edd.
"Fuecoco. Use Ember." said Eddy. Fuecoco opens his mouth and releases a stream of bits of fire from it which hits Hoppip, doing super effective damage.
"Very good, Eddy." said Edd. "Fire type moves are very effective against grass types like Hoppip." They look at Hoppip and see it struggling to stay afloat. "It looks weak enough to capture, Eddy." Eddy takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Hoppip. The Hoppip is sucked into the pokeball and is captured.
"Check it out. My first capture." said Eddy.
"Congratulations, Eddy." said Edd. Eddy looks up his new Hoppip's information on his Rotom Phone.
"Okay. This says my Hoppip is a boy. He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, and Splash. He has some ability called Ch-Ch... What's this say?" says Eddy. Edd looks at the text.
"Chlorophyll, Eddy. It doubles Hoppip's speed when the sunlight is intense." said Edd.
"Oh. Well, I still have my first capture." said Eddy.
"So, what now?" asked Ed who walked over to them.
"Let's train our new Pokemon and maybe capture other ones as well." said Edd.
"Fine. I want my Pokemon to be strong for the Pokemon League anyway." said Eddy. The Eds continue to train in Poco Path. Ed's Sprigatito learned Bite, and his Lechonk learned Echoed Voice. Edd's Quaxly learned Work Up, and his Tarountula learned Assurance. Eddy's Fuecoco learned Round, and his Hoppip learned Absorb. Ed also caught a Pawmi, Edd caught a Scatterbug, and Eddy caught a Fletchling. After deciding they did enough in this area, the Eds decided to move on.
"So where to now, boys?" asked Eddy.
"Let's go to South Province Area One. There are more different kinds of Pokemon there." said Edd.
"Oh boy. More Pokemon to be friends with." said Ed.
"Let's get going then." said Eddy. The Eds and Nemona start heading down a path when they suddenly hear a strange noise.
"Guh-GYAOHHH!" the noise said. The Eds and Nemona looked around in surprise.
"What was that?" asked Ed.
"I don't know, Ed." replied Eddy.
"What do we do?" asked Ed.
"Let's look around and see if we can find what made that noise." said Nemona. "And be careful. There's a cave around here that isn't very safe so avoid going inside it." Nemona runs off in direction while the Eds look on a cliff edge past a broken guardrail along the path they were on.
"Why are we wasting our time checking out a noise?" asked Eddy.
"It could be a cool Pokemon who needs help, Eddy." said Ed.
"And maybe it's a strong Pokemon that can help you win the Pokemon League." said Edd.
"In that case, let's go, boys." said Eddy. They looked along the cliff until they reached the end of it. They look down to see a small beach. When they looked closer, they saw two black doglike Pokemon with skull-shaped markings over their eyes. Edd pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at one of them.
"Houndour, the Dark Pokemon. It uses different kinds of cries for communicating with others of its kind and for pursuing its prey." said the Rotom Phone. The Eds see that the two Houndour were standing in front of a violet, quadrupedal, robotic-looking Pokemon.
"What is that?" asked Edd. As the two Houndours neared the violet Pokemon, it roared so loud, it shook the area, causing the ledge the Eds were standing on break, making the Eds fall. As they fell, their Rotom Phones flew out of their pockets, The Eds grabbed them, and they floated gently onto the beach. "That was close."
"Yeah." said Ed. The Eds look over to see the two Houndours running away from the violet Pokemon and into a nearby cave. After that, the Eds went over to the violet Pokemon. It was just lying in the sand, completely drained of energy. The Eds go over to the Pokemon and examined it.
"What's with this Pokemon?" asked Eddy.
"It seems tired." said Edd. All of a sudden, they hear a growling coming from the Pokemon. The Eds jump back, thinking the Pokemon was going to attack, but another growling indicated that it was coming from its stomach. The Eds approached the Pokemon.
"It's hungry." said Ed with pity in his eyes.
"It would appear so." said Edd.
"So, what do we do?" asked Eddy. Ed takes off his backpack, reaches into it, and pulls out a sandwich.
"Do you think the Pokemon would like this?" asked Ed. He got his answer when the mysterious Pokemon lifts its head up and sniffs at the sandwich. Ed brought the sandwich closer to the Pokemon and in one swift movement, the Pokemon eats the sandwich out of Ed's hand.
"I hope that sandwich was fresh, and it doesn't make the Pokemon ill." said Edd.
"I just got the sandwich from the cafeteria two hours ago, I promise." said Ed. Just then, the Pokemon suddenly got up.
"It seems that sandwich gave it some strength back." said Edd. The Pokemon then walks past the Eds towards the cave the Houndours went into.
"Hey! How about a little gratitude?!" said Eddy. Before the Pokemon entered the cave, it started giving off energy that created a shockwave which made the Eds shield their eyes. "Whoa! Take it easy." Suddenly, the Pokemon changed a bit. On the side of its head and coming out of its tail were what looked like electricity, and its rear legs became rocket boosters that made him hover over the ground.
"That's so cool!" said Ed.
"Astounding." said Edd. The Pokemon then proceeded to hover into the cave.
"So, what now you guys?" asked Ed. The Eds looked towards the cave where the Pokemon went into.
"I don't see any way to get back up to the cliff out here. Perhaps there's a way in the cave." said Edd.
"But didn't Nemona say that the cave was unsafe?" asked Ed.
"Well, I say we go inside. I'm not waiting on this beach unless I have a beach chair, towel, beach umbrella, tanning lotion, and a glass of ice-cold lemonade in my hand." said Eddy.
"I admit that waiting here for an undetermined amount of time does not sound appealing to me without proper provisions." said Edd.
"So, let's follow after that Pokemon and see if we actually can get back up from inside." said Eddy. With that, the Eds went into the cave. The Eds follow it, not knowing what else to do. As they continue onward into the cave, they hear Nemona's voice calling out to them.
"Oyeee! Ed, Edd, and Eddy!" Nemona yells out. The Eds look around and then up to see Nemona standing near a cave opening that was further up. "There you three are! Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"
"We're fine. Our Rotom Phones slowed our descent and the sand on the beach we landed on was soft." said Edd.
"That's good to hear. I was worried for a minute there." said Nemona. The Eds looked around for a way to get up to where Nemona is.
"I don't see a way to get up to where you are. I'm gonna go in further and see if I can find something." said Edd.
"Okay. Just be..." Nemona started to say before she saw the Pokemon that the Eds were following. "WHAT IS THAT?!" The Eds look over at the Pokemon.
"It's a Pokemon." Ed replies.
"I never seen a Pokemon like that before. It looks super strong." said Nemona.
"Anyway, we're gonna follow it and see if it finds a way out of this cave. We'll also keep an eye out for a way out too." said Eddy.
"Okay. I'll try looking around for a way from up here. Be careful." said Nemona.
"We will." said Edd. The Eds continue to follow the Pokemon through the grotto. It soon came to a boulder that was blocking their path.
"What do we do now?" asked Ed. The Pokemon suddenly swings its arm at the boulder, completely destroying it. The Eds were shocked, as was Nemona.
"Wow! That was amazing!" Nemona yells out. "It may be as strong as my Pokemon; maybe even stronger." The Eds continue to follow the Pokemon through the grotto. They soon came to an area that had some wild Pokemon in it. They see a brown weasel-like Pokemon with a tan line of fur going along its back, along with some sharp-looking teeth. Ed pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
Yungoos, the Loitering Pokemon. It spends its waking hours searching endlessly for food. When Yungoos is hungry, its ferocity gains a certain edge." said Ed's Rotom Phone.
"I want to capture it." said Ed. He then pulls out his Lechonk's pokeball and releases him from it. "You ready, Lechonk?" Lechonk looks over at Lincoln and nods. "Okay, Lechonk. Use Tackle." Lechonk runs at Yungoos and charges into him, doing damage. The Yungoos charges at Lechonk and rams into him. Yellow electricity suddenly surrounds Yungoos. "Now use Echoed Voice." Lechonk releases a sound wave at Yungoos which hits it and knocks it to the ground. Ed quickly takes out an empty pokeball out of his backpack, enlarges it, and throws it at the Yungoos. It hits the Yungoos and it gets sucked into the pokeball which falls to the ground and wiggles around for a couple of seconds until it stops and clicks. "You did good, Lechonk." Lechonk smiles and nods in response. Ed takes out his Rotom Phone and looks up his new Yungoos. "Okay, My Yungoos is a boy, he knows Tackle and Leer, and he has the Strong Jaw ability, which powers up his attacks that involves biting." Lechonk begins sniffing the ground. "What is it, Lechonk?" asked Ed. He got his answer when a tiny, brown Pokemon pops up from the ground. Edd steps forward and points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Diglett, the Mole Pokemon. Its skin is very thin. If it is exposed to light, its blood heats up, causing it to grow weak." said Edd's Rotom Phone.
"Perhaps I'll try catching this Pokemon." said Edd as he pulls out his Tarountula's pokeball and releases her from it. Ed decides to return Lechonk to his pokeball and let Edd have his turn. "Okay, Tarountula. Use Tackle." Tarountula jumps at Diglett and rams it. Diglett spins around and sends sand flying onto Tarountula's eyes. "I believe that was Sand Attack. Hurry, Tarountula. Use Assurance." Tarountula jumps towards Diglett and thrusts her front legs into its face. Edd takes out another empty pokeball and throws it at the Diglett. It gets sucked into the pokeball and it wiggles around and clicks. "Splendid work, Tarountula." Edd looks at his Rotom Phone to learn about his new Diglett. His Diglett is male, he knows Scratch and Sand Attack, and he has the Arena Trap ability, which prevents an opposing Pokemon from running away." Edd returns Tarountula to her pokeball. As the Eds keep following the mysterious Pokemon, they hear growling coming from a high ledge near him. They take a few steps back to see what was making the growling sound and they get their answer when they see a big, black, dog-like Pokemon that looked like Houndour, but it was taller, its snout was longer, and instead of having a skull-shaped marking on its head, it has two long, curved horns coming out of it. It also had a devil-like tail as well. Edd takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Houndoom, the Dark Pokemon, and the evolved form of Houndour. Upon hearing its eerie howls, other Pokemon get the shivers and head straight back to their nests." said Edd's Rotom Phone.
"This Pokemon is fully evolved, so it may be too powerful for us to handle. I suggest we avoid a confrontation with it, gentlemen." said Edd.
"Good call, Double-D." said Eddy. The Eds continue down the tunnel after the mysterious Pokemon. The Eds and the mysterious Pokemon go further down the tunnel with the Pokemon smashing any rocks in their way. As they continued, they were suddenly confronted by a pack of Houndours who stand in front of them and started barking aggressively. But a quick roar from the mysterious Pokemon sends them running. After the Houndours left, the Eds and the mysterious Pokemon continued down the tunnel. A few minutes later, the Eds hears Nemona calling out to him.
"Guys! There's something coming from behind you!" said Nemona. The Eds turn and were surprised to see the Houndoom they saw before coming towards them.
"Oh, man." said Eddy. The Houndoom roars at the Eds. Suddenly, the Eds' starters came out of their pokeballs and stand between the Eds and the Houndoom.
"Fellows. This Pokemon is too strong for you to handle right now so we need to get away from it!" said Edd. But Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly just look back at the Eds, then back at Houndoom.
"I think they want to battle, sockhead." said Eddy. Edd looks around for an escape route for them but cannot find one. Realizing there was no way to get away, Edd looks back at the Houndoom.
"It appears we have no choice but to fight, gentlemen." said Edd.
"Ed will stand behind his Pokemon." said Ed. Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco stare at the Houndoom. Suddenly, it releases a spray of fire at the Eds' Pokemon, hitting them all at once and sending them flying to the ground in front of their feet.
"That was Flamethrower!" said Edd as he returns Quaxly to his pokeball. The other two return their Pokemon to their pokeballs. The mysterious Pokemon, hearing Edd's yell turns around and sees Houndoom moving towards the Eds. The Pokemon thinks for a second before deciding to help them. It jumps in front of the Houndoom and swings its tail at it, knocking it back. The mysterious Pokemon lets out a roar, and the Houndoom roars in response, summoning the pack of Houndours from before. The Houndours surround the Eds and the mysterious Pokemon and start barking and snapping their jaws at them. The mysterious Pokemon was about to fight the Houndours surrounding him but looks back at the Eds and sees them also surrounded by Houndours. Deciding that helping the Eds was more important, it jumps over to them and lifts all three of them up.
"Heeeeeey! Up here! Hurry!" Nemona calls out from the cave opening she was at. The mysterious Pokemon sees her waving her arms to get its attention. Realizing she was guiding them to a way out, he leaps up to where Nemona was. Once at the cave opening, the mysterious Pokemon sets the Eds down and Nemona runs over to them. "Way to go. For a second there, I thought you guys were goners!"
"Yeah. That was way too close." said Eddy. The Eds then looks over at the mysterious Pokemon.
"Thanks for helping us." said Ed. The Pokemon nods in response. After that, the three of them exit the cave. As the mysterious Pokemon continued to walk, it suddenly glowed and collapsed.
"Whoa! What's wrong?" asked Nemona. When the glowing stopped, it was back to the way it was when the Eds found it.
"It's sleepy." said Ed.
"But it looks different now. What's up?" asked Nemona.
"Perhaps this is what it looks like when it's low on energy." suggested Edd.
"Anyway, I'm glad you're all okay." said Nemona.
"So are we." said Eddy. Suddenly, the Pokemon gets back up on its feet.
"Looks like it got some of its energy back." said Nemona.
"So, what do we do with this guy?" asked Eddy.
"Maybe someone at the academy would know something about it. Professor Turo might know something about this Pokemon." suggested Edd.
"All right then, boys. Let's go." said Eddy. The Eds and Nemona started heading back to Mesagoza with the mysterious Pokemon following them.

Authors Note: We're trying to figure out a way to blend this story with our other Paldea-related stories, which isn't easy considering that they're in the Pokemon Scarlet universe. If anyone has any ideas, let us know and we'll work on that. Also, we're having Ed take on the Titan Pokemon, Edd will take on Team Star, and Eddy do the gym battles.
